This place greatly exceeded my expectations. Not only was my room comfy, clean, artful and modern - a little luxurious even and with a GREAT view - but the atmosphere of the place was hospitable, with a common area where people could hang out, play games chat and/or use the kitchen, it had a back deck with also with a great view, beer and wine was available, and the hosts were warm and helpful. I also enjoyed the truly international clientele and feeling of 'make yourself at home.' Recommend this place wholeheartedly!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view - that is the side away from traffic noise, and also more beautiful.

Camino Verde is a great value for the price. The location is central to the shops and restaurants in Santa Elena and less than 15 min drive to the cloud forests and other popular attractions in Monteverde. The hospitality of the staff is excellent, they are very kind and attentive. They help you plan and book the tours and attractions you want to try and the price is much cheaper than booking online, by the phone or in person at a tour office. The breakfast is included in the price of the room and it is made to order and very delicious! The common shared balcony view is stunning and the rooms are clean, the bed is comfortable and there is hot water for showers and good wifi. We have traveled extensively internationally and stayed in many bed and breakfast and this one cannot be beat for value and hospitality. Highly recommend!

Cute and comfortable bed and breakfast. The entire property is well kept, all hosts are friendly and helpful, the kitchen is open for use during the day, and every morning the service staff cooks breakfast. I will recommend Camino Verde to all my friends and I’ll be sure to revisit on my next trip to Monteverde.

The room we stayed in was very small; the room was for 3 people but I don’t know how we would have fit a third person or another suitcase in the room. There was virtually no storage space in the bathroom. The shower didn’t have a door so water would get all over the floor. However, the shower pressure was excellent and there was plenty of hot water.

Breakfast starts at 6:30 am but most morning hikes pick up at 7am. Even if we arrived for breakfast at 6:30 on the dot, we didn’t have enough time to finish our breakfast since it was made to order. You also can’t use the kitchen in the morning so that was a real drawback. The staff is always cleaning but there were ants on my eggs one morning; I think they came from the pepper shaker.

The deck is nice but it was so windy that you really couldn’t enjoy the view. We asked for restaurant recommendations but we had much better meals at Taco Taco and the Treehouse than the restaurants they recommended.

The Camino verde B&B was wonderful. Check in was easy, the rooms were comfortable, and we’re within walking distance of town for food, grocery stores, souvenirs, etc.. I rented a car, and they also have a dedicated parking lot 50’ from the hotel. Breakfast is included in the cost, and it was simple & freshly made each morning: eggs, plaintains, fruit, toast, etc.. we’re all available. This place comes at a great price, and I’d recommend it to anybody passing through the Monteverde region of your Costa Rica trip.

Liked · The staff were incredibly friendly, the free breakfast is top notch (waaay more than just toast and fruit), and the location is hard to beat (5 minute walk from "downtown"). The beds were comfortable and the rooms themselves are sized nicely. Wifi is strong and consistent, and the common areas are great!

Disliked · I'm not sure if this particular area of Monteverde is always windy at night, or just in a given season, or even if we were just unlucky for our two night stay, but the seemingly 40+ mph winds rattled the roofs outside our rooms. We were on the lower portion of the hotel (rooms 17 and 18) and had a hard time sleeping because of the noise from the shaking building late at night. Constant banging from 1AM-7AM. It really marred the stay, because otherwise it was a great visit.

We stayed at Camino Verde in Nov 2021 and had the perfect time. The BNB had stunning, well-kept grounds, a large community balcony in the back with breathtaking views, wonderful staff that could not have been any nicer and were extremely attentive, and the location was 10/10– walking distance to the town for dinner/drinks. There is ample on-site parking that is secured and safe. We drove about 15mins to get into the Cloud Forest Nature Reserve Monteverde. I would highly recommend this BNB for anyone playing to stay in the Santa Elena/ Monteverde area!

The drive to Camino Verde from San Jose was a challenge even with our rented 4X4 as the mountain roads are narrow, and serpentine but the view is spectacular. We were told conditions improved when they paved most of the roads so at least that. The B & B was charming and located minutes walk to "town" where the shops and restaurants are. There is a small parking lot and some street parking. The staff at reception are most helpful with anything you need. They know the area and helped us build our itinerary based on weather conditions, location etc. We felt at home right away as we sat on their amazing wooden porch overseeing the green mountains. There is coffee waiting for you and the dining area is clean, comfy and nicely decorated. The reception made it sound like he was offering us an upgrade to a nicer room but the room we got was facing the road and we heard the traffic all night. There is also a lot of wind noise at night, I barely slept. The room itself was large, spotlessly clean, decorated tastefully and well maintained. The mattresses were clean as well as the linens and towels. The bathroom was large and clean with a hairdryer and their very own exotic shampoo, soap and conditioner. (which can be bought somewhere) . Breakfast was great as they had coffee, cereals and granola, fruit, choice of egg served in a few different ways including pancakes. There is a late afternoon popcorn waiting for you when you return from your busy day seeing the local sights which we totally enjoyed. I would definitely return.

Our 4 night stay exceeded our expectations including these excellent qualities: Our room was comfortable, clean, cheerful & it was cleaned each day; the desk staff were incredibly helpful with a list of possible tours & activities; every guide & tour they recommended was terrific; combos of tours were good value; they try to make sure guests get to do what they want to do in the time they have; they know best guides, restaurants, sites; transportation & tours with discounts; the central dining area & kitchen was available to guests to relax, eat carry in or chat; the breakfast had choices all delicious & wait staff remembered what we liked & took interest in us. Our trip was so much richer for both the excellent advice, the help getting tour tickets & transport & the lounge plus popcorn available each evening. The Camino is located downtown which makes it convenient to walk to restaurants, the bank, shops and get transport to sites. We could enjoy without a rental car.

We had a great stay. Reception was very helpful in helping us choose from different tours that were reasonably priced! The bathroom was newly renovated and clean and we appreciated have breakfast included so we could get out quickly before a tour we had scheduled. I would recommend!
