A hidden gem. Delightful to find a clean, quiet hostel with free breakfast and an immaculate kitchen dining area. The breakfast is delicious: fresh fruit served with pancakes, ham, toast, jam, one morning and and eggs and bacon with juice and coffee! The kitchen is clean and they welcome guests using the kitchen to make lunch or dinner. The fridge...

Cheap, very clean and close to all commodities of Santa Elena. Small common kitchen with everything needed for cooking. Somewhat noisy from outside traffic, but this is difficult to avoid when staying in urban area (I sleep with earplugs). I strongly recommend it if you travel on a budget.

We had a great stay here, the owner was very helpful in setting up activities for us, the kitchen was amazing and the breakfast was delicious! our room was right beside the kitchen so we were worried about the noise but it wasn't a problem. good location. only complaint was that I confirmed with the owner that we were leaving...

We booked a room at this hostel on the strength of the room photos and reviews. On arrival we were allocated a tiny room with thin foam for mattress right next to the main communal areas. When we pointed out the photographs of the room we booked and asked to be allocated a room of similar quality, the hotel staff...

This is just one of many hostels at Santa Elena where most of the hotels are fairly expensive. However, Cabinas El PUeblo was a good value ($40 for a private room for two with a private bathroom). It is more like B&B than a hostel. The breakfast was outstanding (bacon, eggs, toast, cake, fresh fruit, juice and coffee) and included...

First, I did not travel Feb 2016, but had to make a selection. It was Feb 2015 but I'm occasionally reminded of this place, so it could be under new management. The lodging looked great, and community kitchen had everything we could have wanted. We dropped our bags and went for groceries. When we came back, power was out--a tree...

We rented two rooms - one with 2 queens and one with a queen and a bunk bed for 5 adults and everyone was very comfortable. The rooms are modest but clean and efficient. Breakfast was great and we LOVED the coffee which we ended up buying to take home with us! The family was very helpful with making reservations...

This was our first stop in Costa Rica and we had a very good experience. The staff was extremely welcoming and even upgraded us to a room upstairs with a cool view because they were not that busy at the time. My girlfriend and I stayed in a double private room with a queen bed (bunk beds we didn't use)...

We arrived on a dark rainy Saturday night by bus. The owners knew our arrival time and showed up at the bus station to pick us up!! Freddy helped negotiate the best family price for zip-lining with 3 different companies and arranged everything for us. Amazing caring people! Our family felt safe and cared for. The shared kitchen is very...

We have slept there two nights and it was nice and really close to the 'center'. The stuff was really really nice and friendly, the breakfast delicious and the kitchen very clean and well equipped. The room we stayed in was quite small and dark (it was the one located in the corner, unfortunatelly, the other ones were much lighter!!)...
