We upgraded our room on arrival to the superior with the swing in the window, we loved our stay here!
Breakfast had 4 choices which were good enough. The hotel manager was extremely helpful for anything we needed or asked.
Jorge in the bar was always happy and talkative.
We liked our stay so much we added on an extra night. Would choose this place again if we revisited Monteverde.

Visited Monteverde for one day and stayed at this hotel. Location is convenient-short walk to the center and all the shops/restaurants/ atm/ entertainment. The room was clean, comfort bed. The receptionist is a nice fella who gave bunch of tips what’s worth visiting. Big plus-you can enjoy a sunset from almost every room

This was such an amazing experience at this hotel! Beautiful rooms, comfortable beds, spacious bathroom, excellent service, very helpful front desk staff. They were able to sign us up for so many experiences and they all knew English. It was an easy walk to get into town and find amazing restaurants and cafes. The coffee in town is amazing! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Monteverde.

Room was terrible. TV not functional. Windows and doors had huge gaps to allow whatever in. Breakfast included, but was awful. “Happy Hour” bar prices were ridiculously inflated, for example a 3oz glass of very inferior wine was 2500 colones. Steep climb from centre of town. Avoid this place! I expect any the good reviews this place received are fakes. This place is also called the Mar Inn B&B.

Receptionist was very nice, along with the rest of the staff and room was great value. You can easily walk down into town in a few minutes, but there is a steep walk back uphill. Really good value if you're on a budget. * I would stay here again.

Not really my type of hotel. It is more a budget low room. I was suprised to find a big nice tv and a fridge but no A/C! No hot water during my stay. Really laud environement ! there was bar/night club close to, which made my night really hard. Plus you can hear everything from the other rooms. Totally what i hate the most on vaction to no being able to get some rest. At the moment of reservation you do not really know whcich kind of room you will get as all the photos are mixes! When arrived fro breackfast at 7:20 there was no more juice... Frond desk was helpuf to help us with tours.

I recently stayed at the Don Taco for almost 2 weeks. The staff treated me like I was part of the family. Great breakfast. Loved the balconies. Not a lot of hot water in the morning, but that just helped me wake up.

I came here with a group while studying abroad. We stayed here one night so we could do the canopy tour/ zip lining. Before this we were visited La fortuna waterfall by Arenal. I suggest taking the boat ride and bus ride to get to Don Taco, some of the best scenery you will ever see and faster than taking the other way. Its 3hr 30min from San jose and about 2hrs from Arenal. We followed a rainbow, and I kid you not, the end of it was at the hotel, something out of a dream. The rooms were nice, some had refrigerators. The showers hot and cold water faucets were opposite in my shower. The breakfast is served in between 6:30 and 8am I believe. You can hear the wind blowing strongly at night but other than that no problems. My bed was comfortable but my friends said theres was a lot better than mine. I'd recommend it

Our 2 night stay in one of the cabinas was one of the best experiences of our 2 week visit to Costa Rica. We had an enclosed porch (picture windows with a view of the ridge and the Gulf of Nicoya) that we would recommend. The room was spacious & clean with private bath. The staff was extremely kind and helpful. Ronald provided unsolicited help when the battery on our rental 4x4 went dead, loaning me his tools, driving me and helping me with the battery. He, Jessica and Don Taco were all very helpful & professional, even making reservations at other hotels for us. Would certainly stay here again. A great bargain.

We stayed here for 1 night when we arrived late and didn't have a booking, we chose this place based on the LP review. Bad idea. The room was clean. The water was hot. Free wifi. About a 5 minute walk to central Santa Elena. $45/night. The bedspread was dirty and was quickly removed from the bed. Even though our room was on the 2nd floor, our back window was about 1 meter from the main road, making it loud all night with cars and motorbikes. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everybody coming and going. And when they peed and sneezed too. The main noise started up around 6:30am when the hotel decided it was the perfect time to restring some electrical wire outside of our bedroom. And what a perfect place to put a ladder but right by our window. After a good 5 minutes of them yelling and screaming and trying to fix the wires, I finally said something and they realized their timing wasn't great to do such maintenance tasks. We are going to find something a little more remote and surrounded by nature. After all, aren't we in a cloud forest?
