This time last week I was enjoying a sundowner at Nile Safari Lodge, the first ever lodge to be built on the south bank of the Nile in Murchison Falls National Park. It still boasts the best view of the river and from the dining area, we could see several elephants, hippo and waterbuck. I remember when I first visited...

It was my first return to Nile Safari Lodge for several years. Only two weeks earlier I had passed by 'incognito' while in the area but staying at another lodge. Since then were the rope wrappings on the rails renewed, signs repainted and the lamp posts given a distinct black and white new coat of paint. The gardens presented themselves...

Upscale lodge with lovely individual cabins, looking out over the Nile River, able to see elephants and Hippos from our cabin. Refreshing swimming pool, great staff. The chef was very creative, loved all of our meals. Everyone was so kind to us. On our final night, the staff sang songs to us in front of the campfire. Just for my...

I learnt Nile Safari Lodge is the oldest of the facilities in the area and we went there for a quick site inspection, since we were staying at Kabalega Wilderness Lodge. My first impression of the lodge was good. I liked the view and the ambience I imagined. However, it seem the place has suffered considerable neglect and is not...

I visited this lodge in early October and was looking forward to this trip but Alas! Only God knew what awaited me... I had prebooked a room with a travel agency which was quite poor at planning so when we got there we had to bargain for a room....on getting into the room... it felt like I had got into...

Stayed a couple of days with friends if February. From the balcony across the river the elephants and bird life was fantastic. Cool pool after a hot day out was really refreshing. Good food and helpful staff.

This is my 2nd trip to the Nile Safari Camp. The first time 5 years ago was fantastic....I couldn't wait to get back there and show my friends this magical place! On arrival in the evening it was just as beautiful as I remembered! It was hot, but began raining and we had a wonderful meal and first night. The...

Beautiful location. Have a drink on the balcony overlooking the Nile. Swim in the pool to cool off and take in the view. Staff are wonderful and always helpful. The food is lovely. Rooms are large with balcony and good sized bathroom with iconic exterior shower (hot & cold water delivered to a tank!). Could have stayed weeks!

We had a great two nights stay at the Nile Safari Lodge. From our balcony we had an impressive view on River Nile and even saw an elephant passing by at the other side of the river. The food was excellent and we always had a choice of different menus (including a vegetarian dish). Although the lodge had a loss...

Wow we had such a great experience over here. The people were very kind and did everything for us. Love to go back once! Every day we could choose for diner fish, meat or vegetarian. We even could ask for a warm shower! They made a campfire in front of our seats and really enjoyed the good food during the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nile Safari Lodge has an iconic reputation due to its unique location in one of the most beautiful settings in Africa. It is here that the mighty River Nile takes centre stage. The lodge allows unhindered views of wild Africa at its most magnificent. Built on an elevated rise on the banks of the River Nile, Nile Safari Lodge surrounds you with the Africa as you always dreamed of. Herds of elephant, hippopotamus, crocodile and other large mammals are regularly sighted from the lodge, as the Nile flows majestically by. The lodge is also famous for its bird life, and is one of the few places from which the elusive shoebill stork can be spotted. While Murchison Falls National Park provides you with exciting animal and nature encounters, Nile Safari Lodge extends this experience, combined with GeoLodges down to earth hospitality. ... more   less
