A delightful old fashioned hotel. Quaint bedrooms with really good mattresses. The staff were friendly, helpful and always smiling. The Food - just outstanding and I will have to diet to get into some of my clothes again! This is the perfect location for one's visit to the Battlefields with masses of photographs and memorabilia all over the hotel. Super...

I've stayed at the hotel on numerous occasions for business and really enjoyed my stay. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, the food is also very good. They have nice home cooked meal options for the evenings and breakfast was cooked to your request.

Established in 1886, this hotel is ably owned and run by Motsie Bezuidenhout (no, she hasn't been there that long!) and the kitchen and dining-room operate smoothly under kid gloved iron hand of Norah (now in her 46th year of service). Although an olde world inn, the hospitality is clearly of the 21st century: welcoming, hospitable with a wanting-to-please style....

Friendliest management and staff! Definitely a place to visit! Rich in history and character. You feel right at home in a beautiful building. Every single face has been a smiling one since I set foot in the hotel!

The Royal Country Inn is part hotel, part museum! The artefacts around the hotel are interesting and certainly make for a unique location. The bar is also quirky, with good service and a wide range of drinks available. The restaurant meal we had in the evening was good quality, although the breakfast was only average. The only disappointing thing was...

We stayed at the hotel as part of a group. We were all blown away by the quality and variety of the food. The public areas are very pleasant and are decorated with paintings and articles about the Anglo Boer War which is appropriate for a hotel from where you may/would take a Battlefields Tour. The staff are very friendly...

Stayed there overnight in December 2015 (apologies for tardiness in writing a review!) and found the management and all staff to be extremely helpful, friendly and pleasant. Besides a lovely breakfast, also ate our evening meal there on recommendation of our battlefields tour guide - their curry was to die for! Just a really lovely experience staying there - felt...

A friend and spent five nights at the hotel and shared a comfortable family room (two adjoining rooms with bathroom and TV in each room). We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel and they all the meals were outstanding. Lovely caring friendly staff and nothing was too much trouble for them.

We were a large group (45) and the service could not be faulted. The rooms are a tad twee but that added to the charm. The lady of the house excelled and the menu for breakfast and dinner was comprehensive. So was the food quality. On the last night (of 5) the buffet was changed to a la carte just...
