On our last day of a second wonderful stay at Gaskbeg. Can’t fault the home from home cottages which are equipped with everything you could possibly need. Lucy and Ewan are such lovely people who are there if you need anything and happy to tell you a bit about the animals and life on the farm. The location is ideal for lots of adventures up the stunning mountains and the surrounding lochs. Thanks for making us feel at home. We will definitely be back!

Great holiday in this very comfortable and cosy cottage. On arrival, it was one of the cleanest cottages we have ever had. We had a wonderful time exploring the area - lots of walks for all abilities - and the coffee shops! Lucy made us very welcome and was always available to answer any questions or suggest local trips and walks. Highly recommended.

This is our third visit (consecutively) to Gaskbeg and our second stay at Bail Na Cnoc. It feels like coming home. The house is spacious, warm and homely. Our two girls just love the outdoor space and the freedom we allow them that they don’t get at home. We sat watching them sing and dance to their hearts content on the front lawn from the warmth of the dining room with a cup of tea in hand. We made tea every night in or on the Aga. Washed our clothes and had them dry overnight in the laundry area. And relaxed in the living room each night with the fire going. The wildlife out and about around the farm is wonderful to see. Opening your curtains to a sheep at eye level on the hill beside you is odd but fantastic! Lucy as always was welcoming, warm and helpful and we love our chats. Our two girls talk about ‘Lucy’s house’ all year long and ask when we are going back. Whilst we don’t know the answer exactly yet we do know that we WILL be back! It is our family’s happy place. A special place that we just love. Thanks again Lucy.

We had never visited the Highlands before and I really wanted us to have an 'outdoorsy' holiday. I somehow stumbled across this farm and its cottages whilst trying to familiarise myself with the area online. What a find! I'd worried that with two adults, a 2 year old and a 5 year old it might feel small. How wrong could I be! (We stayed in Allt Bronach) The cottage is a fabulous size. When we arrived I actually squealed with delight at it as I was literally perfect. Lucy, the owner, came over to introduce herself to us on the first night and basically gave us permission to wander anywhere on the farm during our stay (with a few safety rules of course!) We found the cottage incredibly comfortable and cosy. We prepared dinner in the kitchen every night with great ease as it's so well stocked with utensils etc. The beds were very comfy and had luxury bedlinen on them too. Having the two single beds convert into a king size bed was a great feature as with a little one it gave us peace of mind at night that she wouldn't fall out! The washing machine was very handy and there's an airer to hang washing on to dry. The wifi was really good (except in the twin room but that wasn't a problem) We loved sitting at the outside table listening to the little 'stream' and we could hear it at night too which was lovely. We wandered around the farm, up the hills behind the cottage and Lucy invited us over to see a newborn calf which my girls loved. We even had a sheep give birth to two lambs just outside the kitchen window too! The views out of the front windows were gorgeous and we never tired of them.

The cottage is about 10 mins drive from a Co Op at Newtonmore (nearest shop) and there's a petrol station there too. There's also a post office, a few shops and coffee shops plus a couple of restaurants. A bit further along is Kingussie with more shops and a bigger Co Op, takeaways etc. You literally drive along this same road, the A86 each day and it runs through little villages along the way which makes it a lovely drive.

We visited lots of places nearby including Kinloch Laggan (with a beach and pine forest, stunning), the Highland Folk Museum, the Highland Wildlife Park, Landmark Adventure Park, Loch Ness, Inverness, Loch Morlich, the Cairngorm Mountain Railway......we were out every day! It was an absolutely brilliant week long family holiday in a perfect setting that left us wanting more. So much so we are trying to work out when we can get back up there. I feel like we've found a hidden gem and I feel lucky we got to stay there.

Another awesome stay at Gaskbeg! We stayed in ALLT NA CRICHE this time. There were 3 of us and there was plenty of room. This is a 2 bedroom, one bath, living, dining and kitchen with a washing machine. It's convenient to Aviemore and an hour and a half from Inverness. It was August but we even used the electric stove to heat the living room one night.

It's a working farm - so keep that in mind. And if you like the outdoors this is the perfect place as there are plenty of walking paths on the farm it self. Lucy and Ewan are gracious hosts - and this truly is becoming a home a away from home for many of us in my family.

This was our second stay at Gaskbeg, the first being at Bail nan cnoc last year and Alt na Criche this time.
Cottage was big and spacious, clean and warm.
Teenagers beware, broadband only available in the front of the house.
It is isolated being seven miles from Newtonmore but this adds to the experience, it is possible to buy a takeaway in Aviemore and get back with it still warm !
We will definitely return , but book in plenty of advance as they go fast !

Stayed at Gaskbeg in one of the two cottages. We picked the one more suitable for disabled people as my elderly dad was staying with us.
Must say that the cottage was immaculate, really well equipped and in a lovely spot. Lucy who runs he cottages is lovely.

It's well out of the way right in the middle of the most beautiful countryside you have ever seen. Fantastic walks on the farm behind the cottages up to the mountains and a beautiful waterfall.

It's well out of the way of any local amenities so you will need to drive or take a taxi to get to the nearest villages but that didn't bother us!!

We would definitely stay again and would certainly recommend it.

We stayed in Allt na Criche from 22nd May till 23rd June 2015 and the cottage was like home within a few hours, feeling like a favorite coat.
This cottage is adjusted for less mobile or disabled guests and the wetroom is very convenient, with extra railing and handle in the shower area and handles on both sides of the toilet, that can be folded upward if necessary. The ramp towards the entrance is also very convenient, since luggage tends to move on wheels as well nowadays. The tiles at the back of the cottages are non-skid.
The kitchen is very well equiped, with a very quick reacting cooker and oven (which saves energy), a washing machine, a dishwasher, a refridgerator with a small freezing compartment (very handy to have things in store), all cutlery and cooking utensils you could need,
Bedrooms are spacious, beds are fine, cupboards spacious and lots of room in corridor cupboards for other luggage.
The dining room has a huge dining table and fine (high back) chairs.
The sitting room is the best spot for wifi, which then works fine. In dining room wifi may not always work perfect.
The host family is very kind, warm and polite, helpful in any way possible and more
The lawns are very well kept, the waste bins are very regularly emptied.
This cottage is very quietly situated on the estate of Gaskbeg Farm in the Cairngorm National Park and perfect for trips to Fort William (Ben Nevis Range etc.), Aviemore, Inverness, Pitlochry etc.
For us this was an extraordinary experience full of happy memories.
Of all our stays in Scotland (and elsewhere) over 27 years, this was Really IT! Never better!!!

Have stayed in all 3 holiday homes during the past 5 years. They are all very comfortable, well equipped and a delight to stay in. Gaskbeg is a wonderful place to relax, brilliant scenery all around and great walks from the doorstep. Owners, Lucy and Ewan couldn't be more friendly and welcoming. A perfect place for a perfect holiday.

Contacted Lucy to help set up a surprise for my friend who was staying at the cottages.

She was quick to respond, helpful and honest. She helped me arrange the most wonderful birthday surprise and asked for nothing in return.
Friend said the surprise was perfect and loved her room.
