Detailed Reviews
From the moment we checked into Hotel Des Alpes, Sergio and his staff were helpful and accommodating. They organised a transfer to Monte Pora each day at a time that suited us, ski hire could be left in the hotel each evening which was very handy and staff were on hand for any queries or questions we had. The food was outstanding each evening and they also catered separate meals for one of our group who was gluten free. The hotel has a warm and welcoming bar for drinks in the evening and it also boasts a games room with table tennis and fussball table. The rooms were cleaned every day and there was no problem checking out late on our last day which was very handy as we had a late flight.

This is a lovely family-run hotel. Sergio and his wife were very friendly and helpful hosts. I highly recommend taking the half-board option because the food was excellent morning and evening. Our kids loved it. The hotel is walking distance to the Presolana ski resort which is perfect for beginners and it is a short drive to a larger resort (Monte Pora) for the more advanced skiers. Sergio pre-organized ski rental for us. Georgio (the ski rental guy) was very nice and easy to deal with despite the language barrier. On our last day, we had a late return flight. We decided to skip skiing and go for a walk. Sergio recommended a lite route with great views of the local mountains.

Just to say grazie mille again to Serg and Mel for looking after us so well at the Hotel Des Alpes. Food, accommodation, family-run feel, local knowledge and heartfelt hospitality combine to make this place a no brainier for any visitors to the region.
Genuine people, great atmosphere, couldn't do enough for us.
Thanks again

Our second visit here after a holiday as a family of four back in February 2020. The hotel is ideal for families with a short walk to the nearby slope at Donico, ski school, ski hire and restaurant bar for lunch snacks. The nearby resort of Monte Pora is also convenient for the more experienced skier. This time we visited as part of a bigger group of five adults and five children and had a great time. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, there is a games room to entertain the kids and the food is superb, particularly the homemade pasta dishes! The welcome and hospitality from Sergio and Giuliana is like a home from home, and Sergio is excellent at helping you sort out the logistics of the holiday. Highly recommended

Our first stay with Sergio and Giuliana at Hotel des Alpes and it definitely won't be our last. Wonderful hosts who go out of their way to help. A warm, welcoming stay with comfortable rooms and good food. Beautiful location and easy access to Presolana ski area which was perfect for our grandson. Monte Pora is nearby with a wider variety of trails. We had a fantastic week and one that we will remember. Thank you Sergio and Giuliana!

This was our first ever skiing holiday so I will write this to benefit anyone else who is in the same position. I have not given a 5 star rating like many other reviewers have but bear in mind that I have not yet given a 5 star review for any review.
Booked with the hotel direct and paid a deposit less than a month before travel via Transferwise direct into the Hotels account.
Flew with Ryanair from Manchester to Bergamo, purchased extra allowance on the kids baggage, just a note you can either add an additional bag or increase the limit on the existing bag. In our case (no pun intended) we could either have 2 bags up to 15kg each or 1 bag up to 30kg in both kids names.
We were met on arrival at Bergamo and as there was a large group of us the hotel had laid on a coach to transfer us, smaller groups will likely get the minibus picking them up. Transfer is about an hour depending on the road conditions/traffic. It was handy that the coach continued past the hotel to turn around before the drop off as we got to see how close the slopes were.
Hotel:
Met on arrival by Sergio and family and check in took no time at all. Had room 21 at the back which was ideal for us, double bed (2 singles together) and bunk beds for the boys. Room was large and warm with an en suite bathroom, no bath but shower is more than enough. Room had a couple of radiators which was handy for drying stuff overnight. Also good sized wardrobes to hang all your ski gear. Room also has a balcony which you can see the button lift from if you look to the left.
Below ground floor there is a games room, table football and table tennis. There is also a sound system that you can attach an MP3 player/phone to using the headphone socket. Toilets also situated on this floor.
Ground floor you have reception, the bar and the restaurant. There is Wi-Fi but I found it hard to get any use from it unless you were sat in reception. The hotel was always clean during our stay.
On to Food. Enough choice at breakfast – cereal, French toast, yoghurt, fruit, croissant, eggs and bacon plus a few other things. Same each day but that’s not an issue when there is enough options to vary your breakfast.
Evening meal. Start with the salad bar / potato salad, then a choice of soup or usually 2 pasta choices or as was usually the case soup and 2 pasta choices. Then there is a selection of 2 meat dishes and finally puddings. The soup, pasta and meat course change daily. The food is great after a day skiing and even though I am used to all inclusive holidays were you have much more choice I found myself enjoying it all and being full after it.
Trips. Sergio arranged the transfer for quite a number of our group to spend the day at the other resort covered by the ski passes (Montepora) – didn’t go myself so no review of that. He also sorted out a trip to the village so the Man City fans amongst our group could watch a game.
Sergio allowed us to leave out luggage in our rooms prior to check out (until 13:00). Quick and efficient checkout, don’t forget to hand back your ski passes back to Sergio if he arranged them as there is a deposit on these.
Would I go again? Room already reserved for next year.

Another weeks stay to enjoy the nice easy slopes of Presolana (and the not so easy slopes of Monte Pora this year).
Enjoyed the first sight of the hotel from the coach (pre arranged airport - hotel travel), it's like coming home to a pair of comfy slippers, immediately puts you at ease.
As ever Sergio and family pull out all the stops to ensure you have a relaxed and enjoyable stay, I would never consider staying at any other hotel.
Food - Knew what I was going to get after last year and after a decent days skiing I was glad of it.
Make Sergio aware of any allergies etc and he will do his best to ensure the food is appropriate to your needs or at least warn you what you will not be able to eat.
Stayed in the same room as last year and since our stay last February it has seen a facelift with new furniture and a paint.
Took in Monte Pora this year, Sergio or Lorenzo will arrange transport and a packed lunch for you if you like.
No new jigsaws (you'll get this reference if you stay here).
There is free wifi available but it can be a bit of a chore getting/staying on it. It will drive the Social Media addicted insane. They can just go old school and enjoy the table tennis or bar football in the games room.
If I wasn't still looking for that perfect hotel and service then this would probably be a 5 star review but I've set my bar now and I review honestly based on that.

we spend three days during New Year's Eve. small sky resort of Donico can be reached on foot. this area is perfect for beginners. the village of Bratto is 5 minutes away by car. no shops around. this is a typical small family run place, do not expect anything luxurious, spa or design furniture but expect a nice clean place, quiet and in a green spot. food was OK.
