We loved our last visit in 2019 which was for 4 days and quite honestly, that’s all you need here. Our 7 days was too long.
Ko Samet is a lovely island with some great bays and a laid back Thai atmosphere.
The Grand View Resort is on the beach but beware that at high tide, the beach disappears. At this time of year it is generally back to beach by mid morning so just time for breakfast, which is more than adequate and served outside on the sand (leading to the beach), which is also the area used for lunch and evening dining and the bar.
Lunch and evening menus are varied and if very good quality.
The staff are generally very good and happy to assist.
The rooms could do with a makeover. Whilst being very comfortable, signs of age are creeping in. The new build rooms under construction will answer this and they look very nice from the drawings we saw.
Being a small Thai Island, usable water is piped into the resort each day and it is not unknown for the resort to run out of water during the late morning/early afternoon before the supply boat pulls in and unloads.
If you go for a weekend and only eat at the resort, be prepared for a fire show on the beach each night. It is very entertaining but once seen is enough.
Best go and search other restaurants on the bay (3 available) or take a 2 minute walk to the next bay (turn right) where there are many more.
All in all still a very relaxing place to be but not for too long.

We really loved the beauty of this spot on the island. The beach has gorgeous soft sand and the water is clear turquoise blue.

We had two garden villas which turned out to be very close to the sandy beach and had lovely views of the ocean.

While the location was great, overall it is expensive; more than you would expect to pay. There is no pool or gym so not really a resort. No on demand English language movie channel.

Rooms were clean and reasonably modern; linen fresh and beds comfortable. The beach towels are due for an upgrade.

The breakfast buffet was nice in a lovely setting overlooking the water. Coffee was nice.

We ate most meals at the onsite ocean front restaurant - feet in the sand and under fairy lights - and really loved the massaman and Penang curries. We tried some other venues on the island but decided this was the tastiest and cleanest.

The staff were very nice.

We would recommend this hotel which is easily reached from Bangkok. The trip from BKK airport took 2 hours each way by private taxi plus 15 minutes on the private hotel speedboat.

The resort was comfortable and quite quiet. The room was spacious and clean with a large bathroom. The buffet breakfasts were excellent but the restaurant was fairly expensive, but there were bars and other restaurants on the beach, which was attractive and well equipped. The staff were very friendly and helpful and were exceptional when our daughter was taken ill. Would recommend booking a shared speedboat at reception on departure.

I dont know how this place is when its more people here and no covid situation but at this time I love this place. Clean beUtiful beach with a nice home reef just outside. There are just enough sunchairs so the beach does not feel cluttered. The staff is very friendly and helpfull. You can borrow both snorkeling gear and kayaks. The food in the restaurant tastes great and just a small walk away is a minimart and a bigger beach with more restaurants and bars. The rooms are clean and well kept. There are also alot of small details that Inreally love they thought about like a flashlight in every room if you want to go out when its dark. Hairbands for the forgetfull girlfriend in the free toiletrees. A beachbag marked with your roomnumberbto bring stuff in to the beach. I warmly recomend this place. Clean friendly and relaxing. I will gladly come back.

We stayed here to relax for 4 nights, had a family room (nr. F1), the only room type featuring separate beds (which were very comfortable). The main attractions were: its proximity to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (2 hour taxi ride to the port of Ban Phe, followed by half an hour speedboat ride directly onto the resort's beach, where you're awaited by staff and an official who collects a fee), the good restaurant (extensive menu, good quality food), tables are literally on the beach. Plus the private beach which was peacefully quiet (but we were in a quiet period, very early February, not many rooms were occupied). Staff is friendly and helpful, house keeping was very good. The Flamingo bar is on the beach. Breakfast buffet was not very special, but okay. On this beach are also several other restaurants (outside the resort), plus places to rent a scooter. We went discovering the island on a scooter, the only worthwhile spot is the sunrise/sunset point at the very end of the island (not far from the resort). In the busy season the main town on the island must be a hell (hundreds of rental scooters). Everywhere on the island we noticed rubbish dumps, some burning (very smelly), everywhere along the roads lots of waste plastic, it really starts as soon as you leave the resort entrance. Not good! We therefore recommend to stay in the resort on the beach to relax. It's a pity that the sunset is on the other side of the island. In a busy season it might be far less peaceful here.

The Ao Cho Grandview Hideaway Resort offers a glance in Paradise. I have never enjoyed a more perfect beach with cristal clear seawater at welcoming warm temperature. The resort provides a wide variaty of free activities for its guests, as kayaking or snorkeling, it furthermore provides showers well integrated in the resort close to the sea and has a bar & restaurant (both with menues that leave no wishes open) directly at the shore.
We've mainly enjoyed resting at the shore and swimming as well as the restaurant & bar.
All staff is friendly and helpful and the resort cabins provide the impression of staying in a private bongalow while being very well cleaned and equipped with air-conditioning, mosqitonets as well as showers.
Also not to be left out is the breakfast buffet that provides a wide variaty of dishes, fresh fruit, cereals, bread, coffee, tee fruit juice as well as freshly prepared omelets and pancakes.
All in all a wonderful experience!!

We just spend 4 days at Ao Cho Grandview and it was one of the best holidays ever. While allowing for the current COVID situation, the hotel was still amazing. Personal touches here and there. Very friendly staff. We stayed at an Ocean View Villa and the view was amazing. Very large spacious rooms with all the needed amenities. Great WIFI reception all around. Food was delicious and they even served breakfast on our balcony one morning which made it extra special. Great advice from hotel staff on where to go, what to do. Ao Cho bay, which borders on Lung Wang bay is, after exploring the island on motorbike is THE prettiest bay on the whole island. Crystal clear blue waters, white sandy beaches, it was an amazing time!! Have already booked my next holiday there next month.

Staff really helpful and rooms more than adequate with great views. Excellent location but probably would not stay for to long without hiring motorbikes to get around and explore. Personally staying in one resort for to long I find gets a bit repetitive but as we had motorbikes it made it the ideal location for us.

Beautiful setting! Nice accommodation however no restaurants only one bar! Need to travel for amenities outside resort!
Bath does not work has no water flow and hot water not working! Only shower is good!
No real coffee capsule machine only dried freeze cheap coffee!
Breakfast is nice, they deliver to your room!
Lack of space for clothes !
No mosquito door sliding mesh.
No shop on site for little things.
But beautiful place kind staff, just needs attention to detail to bring it up to high class luxury.
It’s the small things that matter when you are on holiday!
This place can improve, just need to spend more time money and effort to bring it up to match and compete with the other luxury hotels standards near by the same location.
Eg:- Samed Tanmarand resort! This place is perfect! Wonderful high standards. Resturant and cocktail bar too!
Been also rated best food and cocktails in koh samet. Actually k must agree!

Decided to stay closer to the beach this time at this resort and that had its pros and cons , nice view of the beach short way to walk to the beach but you have dogs sleep on your lounge chairs outside your room
Wet and full of sand and will grab any food you have on your balcony, the same friendly dogs stick their heads onto your table at breakfast, lunch and dinner. We asked the staff who the dogs belong to they said no one but they still treat the dogs with a lot of respect, we like dogs and have dogs our selfs at home but to have dogs begging for food at your hotel table and sleep on your towel and clothes on your balcony is nothing I would wish on any guest no matter how many are ok with it. It’s not hygiene and it’s dirty to have in a hotel. Staff is wonderful and the place is amazing but remember not everyone is ok with dogs and cats this should be respected... or put up a sign saying this is a dog hotel where dogs eat and sleep with guests then people would be aware and if and if they did not like that they could have a choice to go somewhere else.

Dear frodes739ม Thank you very much for taking the time to share with us your feedback via Tripadvisor during your recent stay at Ao Cho Grandview Hideaway Resort! I am pleased to learn that you have had overall satisfied during the stay with us, At the same time, to know that our private beach location has met your expectation, as well as our staff associate, has provided a wonderful service which will encourage our team to go an extra mile. I have noted your observation pertaining to the stray dog as mentioned. Obviously, the stray dog issue is having had all over the world trying to fix. But this depends on many factors, including government organizations that have to play a role in helping as well. As entrepreneurs, we help treat homeless animals as much as we can help. However, we appreciate your feedback to help us consider and improvement to take place. Once again, thank you for your valued patronage. What ferry do I take from ban phe pier
Answer from Matteo B
Florence, Italy21 contributions14 helpful votes
Take a Speed Boat, you'll arrive in only 20 minutes instead of 1 hour and a half, it will cost you 350 baht and it will leave you directly on the Beach you want. Don't take Chokkrisada ferry, it will leave you in another beach, close to Ao Cho, but you have to carry your luggages on the sand for 500 metres..........
