Serene Woods is a home away from home in the lap of Mother Nature. The location of each cottage is beautiful! The staff- Priya, Chinmay, Alvin, Ashok, Sahil are very polite and well mannered. The chef -Buddhadev did a wonderful job. The food was simple and tasty. The room was large and very comfortable. We will surely go back! Thank you for everything!
Hopeless.... Not recommend Odd location, approaching road is in bad condition and risky too. Meal is just basic and overpriced. Understaff set up.... Insects can be seen onside the rooms.... Property is not maintained
3 of us school friends stayed here for 2 nights as we were to attend a wedding nearby. This Serene woods is beautiful. So many birds chirp the whole day incl the whistling thrush. The cottages are clean, well designed and all amenities provided. The breakfast and dinner that we had here was yummy and the staff were loving too. The nature walk inside this 15 acre coffee estate was refreshing. Remember to carry your own booze as this place does not have a bar. The booze shop is 1 KM away & but before you reach.
Our third visit to this small paradise place. Its green/ lush and beautiful. The rooms are big/ clean and inviting. The balcony is just awesome. Dining area with the outdoor sitting and the white noise of the water fall is mesmerising. And top that with the sound of the Malabar Whistling bird it becomes perfect. Raju the Chef is churning out tasty food although the breakfast buffet can be enhanced a little with a few more options. The kitchen was open to us for sharing north Indian recipes like BREAD PAKORA and BREAD ROLLS. SO if in future you find these on the menu remember me. Thanks for a wonderful 3 nights 3rd visit. See you soon again god willing.
I love home-stays, but am not a big fan of scaled-up homestays that sort of fall between pure homestays and proper hotels/resorts. My fear is you neither get the warmth of a home stay nor do you enjoy the luxuries of a resort. However, Serene Woods has bridged that gap very well. The outstanding service takes care of the warmth and the understated, earthy make up of the place brings its own charm. I went with my family and we had a fantastic time together. Location: Located in Madikeri, this is just a few kilometers away from the town (shops, restaurants) and yet far away from them not to be disturbed by noise of vehicles etc. In fact, you can clearly hear the 'dawn chorus' in the early morning and the crickets at night. Of the 3 nights / 4 days that we stayed there, we spent most of our time at the estate and only stepped out for dinner and coffee a couple of times. Setting: It is gorgeous. From one of our rooms, we had a beautiful view of the hills and the valley far away. There is a waterfall inside the estate itself. From the dining hall, you can see the hills and the valley within the estate. You can do the estate walk. Be mindful of the leeches when you go for a walk. Food: The chef stirs up some really amazing food. Even if it is not on the menu, if you have something in mind, do ask for it. He may be able to surprise you with it. Whatever he made was delicious. My kids found the Kodava cuisine in the restaurants spicy. So, the food at Serene Woods was a welcome change - they loved it. And so did we. They don't serve many Coorgi dishes yet. But we had our fill outside (Recommendation: 'Coorg Cuisine' for lunch/dinner and 'Big Cup' for coffee) and hence, that wasn't really something that mattered much to us. Service: Out of the top drawer. And that made all the difference. Everyone we interacted with - from the 2 boys (Mitesh & Ashok) that were omni-present, Wayne, the manager (Thimmaiah), and the owners (the Bopannas) - they were all courteous, friendly and very-very generous with their time. Price: I would categorize this in the mid-tier. Food is very reasonably priced given that you are eating inside the resort. Bottom line: I would highly recommend this to anyone that wants to have a relaxed break away from the buzz and yet have the easy access to civilization in the town, should you miss it.…
Serene Woods is located just outside of Madikeri, the main town of Coorg. It is located amidst a beautiful coffee plantation, surrounded by hills and jungles on three sides. It was a rain-soaked trip. Beautiful weather, rain and mist all around made it even more romantic. Thimmaiah proved to be a wonderful host, a cheerful, glib-talking, energetic and suave man who mingled with all members of our extended family and kept us entertained throughout our stay. Wonderful hospitality and good food of Serene Woods helped us make some good memories.
The place is so beautiful in the woods and the people there were so welcoming. Each and every staff member was so sweet and hospitable. I would definitely recommend this place if you want to stay in Coorg.
The view from the room was excellent with greenary all around. The facilities were too good and rooms very clean. My son had wonderful time in play area and same caters to adults alike. Manager was very good and ensured we had a pleasant stay and all our requirements were met. Staff was courteous too. Breakfast spread was good catering to all veg /non veg choices. Manager recommended us to try local cuisine for dinner which was wow.. Highlight of our stay was the mesmerizing green serene view from the rooms which made us be more in balcony then room. We definitely recommend the place to families who wants to have relaxing stay close to nature. We met with owner who was very humble and knowledgeable person and shared culture and rituals followed in the region.
Hi everyone After reading all the review I booked the room for my family. I can say the most pathetic stay I had in my life. Food was stale they make compulsion for breakfast which is just worst dinner is even worst. My first day dinner was masoor dal, beans bhaji, rice, curd, fish fry which was limited papad and pickle. They will call and show that they are very honest aske food preference. After saying we love nonveg food only one dish, so i decided not to make my mood upset in order food alacarte menu which was even disaster that made me very upset. There is only one person who does all work he is at reception ,serve food, pick the plate etc. Cook is rude, look very unhygienic. Property only looks good in the picture . Light are not proper, Electricity went so many times during night time, they are charging so high I paid 22k just imagine the service and food. Pls request don't book here . I wonder how so many people have give good review may it's put by the property owner friend and family.…
As the name says this is one of the most serene and tranquil places I have been to. Heading during monsoon to the hills has its own charm and when u wake up to verdant mountains and rains you know this is closest to bliss! Though Mr. Ponappa was not around he had a fantastic team led by Darshita and Chef Tom. They took great care of us and the dishes the chef brought in was top notch. The rooms are very clean hygienic and spacious. They open up to large balconies with beautiful views. As a family we enjoyed their game area where you can spend time playing indoor games, sipping aromatic coffee and gazing around. It’s location on Chethalli Road makes it very non commercial and thus tranquil. If you would like to go around the town it’s short drive. Great places with lovely memories to live and create. Highly recommended.…
