I had been searching for a homestay in Coorg that would have the best views of the hills and after a lot of research chanced upon this quaint house on booking.com which had awesome pictures . Though I was a bit wary as this was a standalone house away from the town , all my fears were allayed when i visited the place . If you want a quiet rejuvenating stay listening to birds and soaking in the hills , this is a great place to be . Has 360 degree views of the rolling hills from all rooms , away from the crowded city centre( however just a 15 min auto ride away ) is located on the top of a 3 level coffee estate that was bought by the owners family from the British. The sunrise and the clouds on the hills seem a stones throw away from the balcony from where everywhere you look you see the rolling hills . Everything was perfect from the delicious homecooked food , attentive caretakers and huge rooms that were very tastefully done . Right from the shower panels to the curtains and upholstery , everything is of great quality. There is a vintage four poster brass bed in one of the bedrooms and the bathrooms are as big as a room. The owner was very helpful and sent us a car to pick us as we arrived early in the morning and helped connect us to local cabs for sightseeing, even gave us his personal wifi device . If you love nature , this is an awesome place to be ...…
When we were doing our last minute booking for Coorg in December 2017 we came across this relatively unknown but beautiful looking property with lovely pics, though not a single online review was available at that time...however we got a positive feeling when we spoke to the hosts and decided to take the plunge. It turned out to be a great decision and our stay there was beyond our expectations. It is a short drive from the town, however in a lot of ways it is a world away. There is no hustle bustle and the view is amazingly foresty. An ancestral property renovated to a well equipped modern place, it still manages to maintain all the old world charm....home-cooked food of great variety, extremely friendly staff (which to our surprise was also well-educated), wonderful service, beautiful and well done nursery made our holiday perfect. The hosts were friendly and gracious, and we would credit the relaxed ambiance that they provided to the fact that we immediately hit it off with the family staying in the adjoining room and ended up combining our trip with them. The hosts also made a beautiful bon-fire for us on one of the evenings and even gave us a good portable WiFi connection. We couldn't have asked for more, and if we ever decide to be in Coorg again we are definitely going back to them.... Highly recommended to friends and all! …
I'll start with saying this not your typical Coorg home stay and has so much of rich history. Tucked away on the hill side just off the Mercara/Madikeri highway to Chethalli away from the noise of passing vehicles makes it as quiet as it has always been. You can hear the sound of the wind blowing the leaves and chirping birds. Fortunate enough to be the first ones there when they opened up this place for public. The lower floor has the reception, dining room, kitchen and rooms for the owners to live where every room has a fireplace as a few decades ago it couldn't be done without it. The upper floor is for guests, Massive rooms with AC(which you don't really need), TV, Attached bathrooms and balconies with a view of unending mountains! On a clear day you can even see the top of the Namdroling Monastery all the way in Bylekuppe(An hour drive) The mornings are picture perfect be it rain, fog or a clear day, The nights sky is filled with stars and very quiet. The homemade food was delicious and big in quantity. They also have a great Coffee Estate whose coffee used to be shipped to the Buckingham Palace during British Occupancy. Feel free to loose yourself around the Estate(wear trekking shoes) If you love nature, You will love this place. Thanks to the owners for making this incredible place available for the general public.…
