Detailed Reviews
Pros :
1. Nearest to Bus stand.
2. Restaurants , shops are easily accessible.
3. Less Cost and fixes within budget of 1000-2000 INR
cons :
The Major one is HOT WATER not supplied after 10 AM, they have timing 5-10 AM only.
which means whenever u check in,
you dont get hot water given the chill climate the place has.
1. Bathrooms dont have seperate hangers to hang your towels atleast.
2. Rooms have a dirty smell when entered but done away with room perfumes.
3. Food options are limited but the Poornima restaurant provides delicious food.
Bottomline :
Chitra is a HOTEL to stay if your budget is within 1500.
Stay for Two days is recommended but not more than that.

The hotel is really nice, hardly 5 minutes from the Madikeri bus stand and a couple of kilometers from few destinations like Madiekri fort, Rajas seat and Omkareshwar temple. The rooms are good for 2 people, however it will be crowded with third person in the room. The service is good. Overall a nice place to stay.

We stayed for 2 days. Rooms are neat, clean, large and comfortable. Its very good for the money we pay which is around 600 for a double bedroom. Staffs are kind and courteous.
We were staying in a four bedded family room and were supposed to check out at 4 pm. But the bus leaves from coorg only at 11pm. Manager gave an option to shift into a double bedroom for four of us and as we will be sight seeing during the checkout time the hotel staffs offered to do the luggage shifting themselves in our absence.
Its 5 min walk from the KSRTC bus stand in the amidst coorg market. There is a good, though small vegetarian restaurant opp to the hotel (popular guruprasad). The hotel also has a spice shop and a good restaurant of its own.
If i visit coog again i will definitely choose to stay in this hotel as its cheap, comfortable, accessible and has good staff. Once can stay there with family without any problem.

Booked the room over phone. We were asked to transfer one third of the total cost. Room with 4 beds cost Rs.990/- per day (6PM checkout). Cheap price in a hot tourist place. Checkout time was flexible. Staff were nice. Comfortable stay. Hot water available from 5 AM to 10 AM only. Will be helpful if provided in the evening too. The restaurant was good and there also staff are good. Good Budget Hotel.

We stayed at this hotel during December `14, and found it to be comfortable for stay. The booking was done over phone, and they asked us to transfer some amount in advance.
The room was fairly ok when it comes to hygiene/amenities. What mattered more is the hotel's proximity to the bus depot and flexible check-in time (we reached at 4am).
The staff is cordial and will even book a cab for you for a reasonable price. They have a list of places to cover. We could cover most of the important spots in a single day.
All in all, a decent place to visit.

My friend who checked in d hotel on 16th November'12 booked a room for me for next day nd d hotel guys agreed it and noted it down... I checked in next day Saturday morning 7.30 nd paid an adv of 1k.. they gave me d receipt for d same with arrival date as 17th nd time 7.30am.. all well... but wen I asked for checkout on 18th Sunday morning, they charged me for 2 days fare!!! The reason being fare is from d time my friend booked d room for me!!!! They gave me a bill with d total charge of two days nd changed arrival date as 16th nit at 9.30pm!!!!! They managed to take d first receipt frm me nd hidden it smewhr!! BecAuse it had d actual date n time of my arrival...???
The management behaved very badly nd didn't even show d courtesy to say sorry for d confusion but rather behaved as sme barking dogs for money!!!
I was left wit no choice but pay d money as I didn't have whole day to spend...

This hotel is centrally located near to the bus stand & in Madikeri town. The Hotel has a restaurant however when we visited in Nov 2011 the restaurant was closed; however this is not of a major concern as you'll find many restaurant about this hotel which are walking distance. The rooms are large & clean. The staff in the hotel is very courteous. I'll highly recommend this hotel to anyone who want to stay in Madikeri town & needs restaurants/ shops/ market at a walking distance. The only downside is, you do not get any valley/ nature view as the hotel is located in the central town. The prices are extremely reasonable & a standard double room costs INR 600 per night. Indeed Great Value For Money Hotel In Madikeri.

This hotel was my only option as it was open for check in at around 2 am when I arrived. The fact that they check you in, they do it like it is a favor. Right from the time you check in, you have to get used to hearing the word, 'NO' from them on even a simple think like a 3 rupee shampoo or a soap. They can bang the phone on your face when you call for room service too so mind that or just ignore it unless you have an option to check out and find a new place.
The other horrible thing I hate is the wide range of uneducated non-courteous folks they have appointed in facilitating room service. Imagine you are tired from the previous days trek and tired and planed to wake up at your own leisure and you head a continuous knock starting at 6:30 onward. You ignore that and stay in bed and you can be sure, you will get another round of knocks in a couple of minutes. You may ignore to chose but be certain, you will be woken up even if you are in the death bed as they are masters in accomplishing their mission to wake you what to ever. I thought it was OK even then, but the worst is yet to come. These knocks can be heard all through the day as they believe it saving electricity and the only to do that is to switch off the room connection if they figured out you are not at your room. In case you are, then you face this inconvenience.
It gets even worse as the room service guys are not trained at all and look like they are forced to do their job and take out their frustration on the customers. They just don't listen to you whatsoever and linger around you when you check out the hotel and expect a tip. wah wah!!
Another thing I noticed while being served an order for room service, is that every single representative of the hotel facilities tried to barge into the room no matter you are blocking their way for them not to enter and the thing I hate the most is their inquisitiveness on peeping to see who is in the room. its not once, its not twice but during my stay for 3 days, it was nothing but a very very offensive behavior from the hotel folks. My mum and aunt who were travelling with me were also targets in their respective rooms and complained of the knocks bad behavior and horrible bathroom.
To add more, you have an A+ grade of dirty bed spreads, blankets and the super unhygienic bathroom maybe cleaned about 10 days ago. They do not have towels, no soap or shampoo they offer not hot water at 10 am.
It only gets even worser when it is time for check out. You can get bills that you have not placed an order for and too pathetic when they tell you that the so called below avg rooms that you adjusted yourself and bore the horrible facilities are priced at a kingsize 1500 to 2500/- rupees. At the time of check in, it can be a different rate but during check out, they can tell you that the guys who helped in the check in was a kid or was not aware of the price and he offered a wrong less price instead. hahaha!!
My friends also faced the inconvenience of stuff missing from the room, earphones and phone charger missing.
So, in a nutshell, my suggestion is a STRONG No No for normal human to check in to this place.
