Had a first hand review from a colleague before booking this. Must say I chose the best homestay possible. Aunty is one of the finest cooks I have come across and believe me I am quite a food critic. She had even arranged local transport for sightseeing on our request which made the trip hassle free. Also must say, do not miss out taking a couple of recipes from her and enjoy the warm hospitality.

Had a nice stay like home and well maintained. A memorable holiday staying in home stay combined with Homely food (Which is very rare on a Holiday). Before start of Journey we had concern about food for my aged orthodox father but this was not an issue once we tasted the food provided by host. The hospitality shown during stay will be remembered for ever. Very safe place for family & Accessibility to tourist spot. Thanks Mrs Jayashree & Mr. Ananth.

The host and hostess are extremely nice and welcoming. The place is well maintained, reachable, just 1 km from Raja's seat, bus stand and good places to eat. Breakfast served by aunty is delicious. The property gives you authentic feel of living in a hill station. Special mention to the spices shop just 100 m from the place where i could buy lots of stuff to take away. A very good experience for my family.

My home stay booking for Coorg stay was done by CLEARTRIP. Since I had a bitter experience and aware of idiotic work of cleartrip for my Bangalore stay, I contacted Alpen Glow in advance of my arrival. I was informed by Alpen Glow that no accommodation for me since their house is full which they have communicated to Cleartrip. Based on my repeated requests, Alpen Glow has organised alternate arrangement though it is not same as Alpen Glow. .Really thankful to Alpen Glow

I booked this place only because of positive online reviews. After visiting the place, yes, it was a correct decision. Location: The location is spot-on. It is around a kilometer distance from main KSRTC bus stand. Most of the good restaurants are around this bus stand and hence it is easy to reach out for food. The place is quite safe as well. Hospitality: Very good hospitality. They serve good breakfast in the morning. They also arrange local sightseeing at nominal cost and the experience was good. Amenities: Home say amenities are decent. Hot water for bath was available. They give drinking water in containers promptly on request. No hassles in checkin or checkout. Overall, the experience was good and I would definitely recommend this place!

We stayed at this homestay from 19th early-morning to 21st noon. We had heard a lot about homestays but had never stayed in any until this. Therefore we were looking forward to the homestay experience with great anticipation. However, we were in for a disappointment. This homestay consists of an extended family's 3 homes, one adjoining the other. We were put up in the first home. The room ,furnishings and linen were just basic and ordinary. The worst was the bathroom which had a run-down look with chipped floor tiles, old sanitary fittings, malfunctioning taps. At least, hot water flowed-in ! Another thing is that for the 2 days of our stay, there was no housekeeeping or room cleaning. Among other things, breakfast was just OK. They did arrange for a car to do sight-seeing at a price of Rs 1600 per day. We used the car for 2 days and Mr Rehman, the driver, was quite knowledgeable on Coorg sights. The homestay is located in a quiet part of Madikeri.

Room Tip: The owner has a homestay in his coffee estate, near Abby Falls. That may be a better place.

The few things that we liked about this home-stay is the fact that it's inside a coffee plantation, is surrounded by greenery, and has a wonderfully cordial caretaker (Mr. Sitaram). Also, a friend of the host came us to guide us from the Madikeri to the homestay. He provided us with delicious dinner and breakfast. Also, there is a boiler type water heater that is used to provide hot water in the washrooms. A morning walk is superb around the home-stay with lovely birds chirping. However, few things that we thought could have been better are, 1-->There was no telephone connectivity or the internet (wi-fi). The connectivity was available only at some distance from the home-stay 2-->The homestay is around 15 km from Madikeri with bad roads for around 1 km stretch and no street lights. This aborted our plans to venture out and come back after sunset 3-->There was no cable TV connection 4-->Would have been nice if someone showed us the coffee estate. As it was the first time, we went to Coorg so we were not able to figure out much on our own. 5--> Also, there are a lot of adventure related facilities like a swing, mini pool, rope-walk that needs a bit of upkeep. There was a team invited to renovate the kitchen, etc. of the Homestay. So hopefully, it's all set for a facelift. Overall, it's good for people who want to come in a group and can do away with too much phone and internet connectivity, just relax and enjoy with friends and family.
