Jack In The Green is definitively a flashpacker, the whole place feels like a family house where everybody gather to share travel stories. We loved every second of our stay there thanks to the great facilities (Awesome kitchen!!!) and super friendly staff! Thanks again!!!

We didn't pay much so what could we expect? Its not because its the place to be for backpackers that at least you cannot expect a clean bed, this is a basic for any type of accommodation business. When going to bed, we seriously questioned ourselves on the bedsheets. They were not looking clean, we did put our towels on...

Relaxed, very clean and comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful and the double room was spacious. A wood fire was always burning and created a warm luxurious atmosphere. We had been thinking of getting a hotel and were really pleased we didn't when we saw how nice this place was. We give Jack in the Green five stars.

My boyfriend and I stayed one night, and paid $20 each for a campervan site and use of facilities. We had just spend a few nights in our camper, so our intentions were to get warm and clean, and to cook a hot meal. Well, the kitchen was FABULOUS. Big and spacious, with lots of cooking and counter space! It...

We booked in here for just one night along with my son & his girlfriend as part of a "Road Trip" from Christchurch to Hanmer Springs. I have to admit we were a bit apprehensive, (being a "mature" couple" and never having stayed in a backpackers before), but we were pleasantly surprised. The place was very clean & has a...

The hostel is nice and usually clean, also we could sleep quite well. Although it'd be great if you could change kitchen towels more oftenly. On another note, try to keep toilet paper always up, wanted to take a dump in the middle of the night and there was no toilet paper left in one bathroom so I had to...

Jack In The Green feels like home, as soon as you enter the door. A fireplace, cosy and comfy living room, big dining table and big kitchen where everyone makes really nice and good food. This hostel seems to attract very nice and interested people. I stayed here for a longer term and even if people stayed just for one...

We stayed in one of the en-suite rooms and found it to be very spacious and comfortable. We slept like babies and enjoyed the shower especially. We had use of the main hostel building as well which was cosy with the fire going on the cold day. We will be back.

Booked here for the long weekend, due to a change of circumstances we ended up only staying the one night. Stayed in Room 7, which was comfortable and spacious, bed was comfortable and well made. Room was clean and tidy. Felt the room could have been a bit more welcoming with a "Welcome Book" in each room which would have...

We stayed in the family unit with ensuite. Room was very spacious, beds comfy! Quiet area of Hanmer and only a short drive back to town. The manager was friendly and the resident cat was very cute. There was off street parking and a lovely outdoor area to relax in.

Thank Lisa C
