basic room with metal bunkbeds that make noice every time you turn in your sleep. Not exactly a good night sleep. small but nice and well equiped kitchen. 2 big bathrooms with a shower, common room gives the chance to make contact with other travellers.

We stayed here as a family. Four of us sharing with a French couple in a six-bedded room. Plenty of space. A sitting room with television and kitchen. Good wet rooms. No noise. We had a lovely time on the beaches nearby. Get breakfast in Mallaig before you leave as we drove for ages trying to find breakfast when we...

I've been traveling the scottish highlands for few days with a bicycle, that day I rode from Stirling to Mallaig which is quite a long distance! The Mallaig Backpackers Lodge (The Tea Garden) was like heaven for my tired legs. Confortable, clean, awesome showers/bathroom, very kind staff, very close to the ferry and not overcrowded! I loved the place and...

A very cosy and homely hostel - there is even a little snug just off the kitchen with sofas and a tv! The hostel is very easy to find, less than a minute to the station. There is bike storage round the back which was great for me. The bathrooms are the only modern part of the hostel, which was...

Rooms good-kitchen fine. Not really enough room if full but as it was just 4 of us, it was perfect. Lots of pubs and coffee shops nearby. Our favourite is the Seaman's Mission café-good coffee and a second hand bookshop attached.

One of the best hostels that I've stayed in. It's well laid out, comfortable, clean, very near the station, friendly people and good value for money. Only one niggle, there's an automatic tap in the wash-hand basin. While this may save water, its short duration wasn't any good for rinsing my razor. While I was there, one person who slept...

Super, will go back. Clean, cosy, safe, central. Seems to have the balance right for backpackers touring the west coast and islands. Close to ferry and train. Eyed the lounge as a meeting point. The wet room works week but beware the right hand room does not drain quickly enough and you need to use the mop to stop a...

I liked this hostel. As the first into my dorm I found the most comfortable mattress. Another girl said hers was very uncomfortable. It was quiet and the shower was amazing. Bathrooms obviously renovated but why they did do toilet separately, I'm not sure... At least the large bathroom. The kitchen is well equipped and the common relaxing area had...

I stayed here for one night. Very clean and good facilities. I was in a 8 bunk dorm, which might have been a problem if one had snored/been otherwise noisy, but there was only one other, very quiet, person in the room. Staff are very helpful. I like the fact that they make a big thing about being eco-friendly. Free...
