This charming hotel/pub on the River Wey at Eashing, near Godalming was absolutely full of character. The service from all the staff was fast, proficient and friendly. The recently made-over room was tasteful and interesting in that (given its ripe old age) the floors were tilting but the bathrooms very modern and spotless. The meal, alas, did not quite live...

We are regulars at the Queen's Head in East Clandon, but decided to give the Stag a go as it's part of the same group. Lovely location by the river, but food was very average and not a patch on the Queen's Head. I had to send my starter back as it was cold and my fishcake main contained very...

Dear MW0108, Thank you for your review. Its great to read that you are a fan of the group and enjoy trying the other sister pubs. I am sorry we did not live upto your expectation on this visit. I remember you well as I spoke to you a couple of times through out your meal. We are always striving...

Food OK but salad covered in mustard not as described on menu. 20 minutes to clear table after finished. Waitress said look into it but didn't bother. Shame..........won't be back. Expensive food but not shown in service.

Dear David M, Thank you for taking the time to post a review. I am sorry to say you caught us over a difficult weekend. Maintenance issues with our kitchen extraction meant we struggled to produce the menu at our usual speed. My apologies for the lack of description on your salad. I was under the impression the complimentary coffees...

I was in the Guildford office today, because a leaving lunch had been organised for one of our colleagues who's off to pastures new. Some discussion ensued, to try and avoid the trend of overpriced food nearby - and we decided on The Stag, with a lovely riverside setting. Round these parts, of course, a car is necessary, and we...

Being right off the A3 makes it a great stop off for a bite to eat, friendly and quick service. Food was decent, we both had the roast beef so did'nt really test the menu but it was good! Will be returning when we have more time to really sample the menu and relax,

A really nice and cozy alternative to staying in central London if your schedule allows. The restaurant serves great food. During the summer it must be fantastic to sit outdoors and enjoy a drink after a long day.

The pub's setting, next to a watermill, is nice. The closeness to the A3 motorway (and the noise from the motorway) less so. The pub interiors are clean and bright, but lack character. We had a bottle of New Zealand sauvignon blanc (passable), and as the kiwi stuff ran out, a bottle of Chilean sauvignon blanc (about as exciting as...

Best food! Great staff and service! Good choice of beers and wines. Perfect atmosphere, nice quiet room, nice location, nice green place, quite good train connection to Guildford and London. Perfect place for family weekend or vacation. Would definitely recommend.
