I stayed before starting The Cleveland Way. The welcome was friendly ,the staff were all charming and the Dinner and breakfast quality were all good. Served attractively and served hot. The things which let down this hotel were 1) No help to take luggage upstairs 2) Breakfast had no fresh fruit selection and the toaster was in desperate need of...

The room (superior twin) was more than adequate as with the bathroom. It was a bit noisy from the traffic but to be expected as it overlooked the square. The menu was disappointing and the meal was poorly cooked.

A challenge to make contact with hotel by phone, (think no staff to answer phone) and no replies to emails.......poor Dog friendly, but you get a poor quality room, (ours overlooked a rusty tin roof and an Indian restaurant) OK for our one night stay. Great location, clean but uncomfortable bed, good bathroom.

Positioned ideally for our stay in Helmsley and my parents who are disabled where looked after very well, rooms very clean and adequate. Plenty to see in Helmsley and surrounding area, we enjoyed Castle Howard and the Folk museum in Hutton-le-hole, only about 8 miles away. Would stop again.

2nd time at the feathers and its not lost any of it's appeal. Tidy rooms, great food in the restaurant and the bar as well as being very dog friendly. Perfect base to discover Helmsley and the surrounding area from. Will definitely be going back!

This is the 2nd time we have stayed here and again it didn't disappoint. It is a small but quaint hotel right on the market square in Helmsley. We had the same room that we had when we stayed before which was quite small but perfectly adequate- lovely and cosy. The beds are so comfy. The staff are very friendly...

We stayed one night here on a Friday night in May 2017. Apart from a couple of minor niggles and considering the property age we would come back. There is a small car park around the back which is closely monitored, and the hotel is ideally suituated to explore the area.

Just fantastic! From the moment we walked in to the moment we were warmly welcomed. We were a party of 12 celebrating a special birthday and the staff could not do enough for us to make sure we had a wonderful time. Special thanks to Matthew who really went the extra mile. The rooms were excellent, the food good quality...

A traditional hotel with the quirky 'maze-like' layout in the main building typical of older properties, which I personally find much more appealing than modern square box hotels. Room wasn't the biggest, but fine for our stay. Clean, comfortable and quiet which are the key things of course. Three different bar/restaurant areas with very different atmospheres so something for everyone....

From the outside, this looks a smart pub (and, of course, it's a hotel) and inside the bar area appears quite compact... yet the building expands like a tardis. There is a function room and out back there is a large courtyard with tables and chairs, covered by giant canopies (with heaters attached for the cold). The place seemed friendly...
