We were looking for a dog friendly hotel/pub with with rooms and we found the Acorn Inn via dog friendly website. The Inn is located in a very historic village in the centre of Thomas Hardy countryside. On arrival we were met by front of house staff, shown round all public rooms and areas and then our room (kingsbere). Room...

Booked the Acorn Inn for dinner while staying at Summer Lodge. We were immediately shown to a cosy sitting room with open fire roaring and drinks were brought in. This is definitely not a pub which we had thought but that did not matter on this occasion. We all agreed the food was delicious. Would definitely recommend the beef 3...

We stayed at Acorn Inn the weekend of 11-14 November. It is a lovely place, throughout the building you feel as if you have gone back in time but with all the mod cons to make you comfortable. The food was just wonderful, all produce is local, each evening was a gastronomique experience. The staff are friendly and helpful -...

Just got back from a visit to Dorset. This hotel is intimate and very friendly. Chosen by my girlfriend, I was very impressed with everything. We stayed in a room called silverthorn, had an amazing dinner - I had pork belly and she had duck. I did not expect such high quality of food for such a small hotel. We...

Enjoyed a recent stay in this characterful Inn. We had the Evershot Suite on top floor, which consisted of a double and single bedroom, sitting room and large bath / shower room. It was comfortable, cosy and clean. It was a pleasure to relax in the sitting room after a day out. Just beware the slanting ceilings if you're a...

My wife and I stayed overnight at The Acorn Inn, late September. Very enjoyable time enhanced by friendly staff, good food and comfortable bed in pleasant room. Breakfast was all you would expect it to be in a country inn. Will go back for lunch one day.

This old pub is nowadays more restaurant than pub but none the worse for that. We were staying at nearby Summer Lodge and chose The Acorn for Friday night dinner. We ate in the bar area towards the back of the pub as the restaurant area was fully booked (I would recommend booking ahead 2 or 3 weeks at least...

A lovely place to stay in a quintessential English village. I was made to feel very welcome, with free doggy treats available, which was a nice distraction. I was even given a big water bowl in my room, with had some lovely home made doggy treats, even mum spotted the lovely shortbread in a lovely decorated tin, so they didn't...

I had checked reviews and was sure this was going to be a special birthday evening. The service and food was good, however the one thing which didn't occur to me to check was the temperature. Admittedly I was seated close to a window, but the meal was marred for me by feeling quite cold throughout the evening.

Myself and my husband stayed here recently for a long weekend and had a lovely time. The staff were super friendly and efficient from the moment we walked through the door. Check in was smooth and we were shown to our room promptly. The room was very nice, spacious and clean. The en-suite was quite small with a shower unit...
