I stayed here with my teenage son for 1 week. The room was clean and light although the water pressure for the shower was very weak and it took a while to get wet!! The hotel is in a wonderful situation however. It is easy to get out and about without a vehicle of your own as the beach and...

We have staid at this hotel many times since May 1990 so you could say we are good customers, we love the hotel and the staff have always been friendly and professional. Last week we tried to book a specific room for 2 weeks in September but were told we could only state "family...

I am sorry that you chose not to stay at the Cliffden hotel. We can always guarantee a particular type of room, but guaranteeing a room number can create problems. At time rooms have to be taken out of service for emergency repairs, or other circumstances beyond our control. We will endeavour to meet any guest requests, but cannot guarantee...

Me and my family, of which we have a 7 month old baby, it was the worst experience ever due to excessive noise from above, Karen the manager being very unhelpful and rude to my husband, ignored calls from our room to the point we were cut off. We were asked to move our car of which is fair enough...

I find myself unable to thank you for your review. I have responded to your husband initial email personally. Your husband was not interested that where his car parked posed a serious risk of injury to our visually impaired guests, and the car he refers to did not pose a risk. Your husband very aggressive and would not allow me...

Very poor quality accommodation and room was smelly and dirty. Would definitely not recommend it. Breakfast was very low quality and breakfast buffet table was a joke. Cheap and nasty and definitely in need renovation. Felt more like a low grade youth hostel. The only good thing is the setting and grounds but these do not compensate. Poor sleep due...

We stayed here for our holiday. We knew that it was a Vision hotel. Our initial room was stuffy, dark, cramped and dirty. It overlooked "the close" but the noise of traffic from Dawlish Road was horrendous and non stop. I live on a busy main road at home but this was worse. The shower was over the bath -not...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Cliffden Hotel was built as a private House in 1815 for Sir John Strachan on 35 acres of grounds adjacent to the Dawlish Road. The original gardens were built in the Regency style gardens, with smooth lawns, shrubberies and trelliswork and wall-plants against the lower storey of the house. The House was purchased by Guide Dogs for the blind and converted to a hotel which offer accommodation to both blind, sighted and partially sighted guests. The hotel now sits in 7 acres of landscaped gardens, and a short walk through these private grounds brings you to the glorious seafront at Teignmouth. ... more   less
