The Gloria Palace Amadores Thalasso & Hotel garners accolades for its impeccable cleanliness and spacious rooms boasting remarkable sea vistas, despite occasional decor and maintenance issues. While the noise level receives mixed reviews, with some disturbances noted, the hotel's amenities – including diverse dining options and the Thalasso spa – are widely celebrated. Guests appreciate the serene atmosphere and prime location with easy beach access, although a few find the entertainment lacking.
Service is lauded for its friendliness and professionalism, though rare lapses at reception are mentioned. Opinions on value are divided, with some guests questioning additional costs.

Detailed Reviews
We arrived home yesterday after a 10 night stay here at Gloria Palace. We originally came here 13 years ago on our honeymoon, and then last February (2019). We love it here, and we were really happy to be visiting again this year. We were pleased to see that they are starting to improve the ‘free’ gym with some new equipment which was desperately needed. I do however find it strange that as a guest of the hotel you have to pay to use the spa gym which is 8.50 euros - hence we always used the free gym. We love the hotel, it has special memories for us; however, the rooms are a little dated. Also, this year, we found that some days the cleaning wasn’t as good as last year. The soap and bath gel/shampoo was not replenished, tea bags weren’t left, dirty cups not washed up, and a dirty cloth was left in the room on the chair. A couple of the cleaners also asked if we wanted our room cleaned ‘tomorrow’ even though we left the ‘please clean sign’ on the door every day - almost like they didn’t want to do it. We are very tidy, but we would still like the basic stuff done every day in the room. Obviously, the Calima caused a lot of dust everywhere which would have been a nightmare for the cleaners. The lifts are slow, but it seems they have always been like that. The key cards were a nightmare - we seemed to be constantly going up from the 7th floor to reception because the key cards were not working. This was really annoying as even when they gave us new cards and I went back to the room, the cards didn’t work and I then had to go back to reception three times (six walks to the lift, six lift rides). We had a service guy come out twice as well to sort it out. The food at the hotel is very good, plenty of choice for everyone. The waiters/waitresses were all very pleasant, in particular Mounir who remembered us from last year and was always very attentive and smiling. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. We will stay here again definitely, as overall, we do like the hotel, but it would be nice to see the rooms updated and the cleaning improved i.e attention to detail.

From the moment we were greeted at reception to our departure time one week later we knew we had picked the right hotel for our holiday. We booked half board which was sufficient. It gave us the opportunity to explore the local restaurants at lunch time. First, the meals. One member of the party is wheat intolerant and this issue was catered for, no problem. Great variety for both breakfast and dinner with lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. Nice touch: we saw that there was a children's meals section where the kids could fill their own plates - all sized down too. Restaurant staff were so professional and friendly. All in all it was a pleasure to dine in. Good selection of wines with the added option that we could take the bottle back to our room and finish it the next day if we wanted to.
Our room was spotless and very private - a stones throw away from the pool (just up one flight of stairs). Very spacious. Super balcony with an incredible view. Huge bathroom. Just one small issue: the hotel suprisingly did not supply body lotion in the bathroom. Something I have come to expect from a luxurious hotel. Remember to bring your own. There are two outdoor pools in the complex and the hotel supplies pool towels for a small deposit. These are big and soft so leave your towel at home (it will give you extra space in the bag for shopping in the new shopping mall in Puerto Rico).
All in all, this hotel ticked all the boxes for us. Many people we spoke to were returning visitors so that says a lot about the place. Hopefully we will do the same next year.

We spent a lovely week here soaking up warmth and sunshine. The hotel is situated on a cliff overlooking the sea with easy access by lift to the coastal promenade. It is ideally situated as via this promenade a few minutes walk to the left sees you in Puerto Rico with its sandy beach, marina and ferry linking to places along the coast. A short walk to the right takes you to Amadores beach - great for swimming and also eating in the restaurants that line the beach. Our room was excellent, very large with a sofa and two arm chairs and an attractive balcony. We asked for a quiet room and the hotel accommodated this request well. We could walk down just one floor to the access the promenade. The maid service was of an excellent standard. The breakfast and evening meals were good and the excellent staff very friendly and attentive. The spa was wonderful, as were the massage therapies, although some repairs and maintenance were needed with the ravages of steam and water on wooden structures, etc. The swimming pool in our section was excellent in size, cleanliness and every week there is a fashion show around the pool. The evening entertainment was varied and of a good standard, we particularly enjoyed the Spanish dancing group. We booked an island trip via reception which was a great experience except for the 60 seater coach and the 75 minutes of pick-ups! The hotel should try and book a company which uses smaller coaches (e.g. 30 seaters) or mini-buses. We saw these around the island, particularly the company VIP. Overall, an excellent stay.

We booked a sea view room with Jet2Holidays, when we arrived the receptionist told us the room we were booked in was on floor 2 room 2005.When I looked at the hotel plan I saw the room wasn't on floor 2 but minus 1 ,I queried this very politely with the receptionist I was told I was wrong she was right.
We went up to floor 2 with our suitcases looking for the room it wasn't there, we came down via the lifts where a man previously seen at the reception desk passed ,I asked him for help his curt reply was" I am busy"no help there.
Back to reception to be told our room was on Minus 1 floor which turned out to be below the pool area where we would be overlooked ,next to the play area and a walkway to the tennis court ,on the right was the night entertainment .The room faced a brick wall not a sea view, there was decking in the front of the room which people walked up and down until the early hours.we were told if there was any availability we would be moved the next day .luckily there was but the attitude the next morning at the reception desk left a lot to be desired we were not offered an apology or help moving .at that stage I felt ill I had a headache something I rarely have .
Room 2005 would have been lovely if it had been on a higher floor and not below ground which made it cold and dark with very little storage for clothes . The room we were moved to had lovely sea views the only good thing I can say about the bathroom was the toilet had a brilliant flush ,not impressed with the 6inch crack on the bath .it was a very bad start to our holiday which upset me greatly. the lifts were frequently very slow or out of order.
It was very misleading to say the lift took you down to the promenade after 3 lifts in different areas of the hotel it took you down to a coastal walk which was hilly in parts not suitable for people with mobility problems as we have, we are aged 78 and 74 years olden feel we could have been treated better by Gloria Palace.
On the plus side Eva a receptionist was lovely and the dining room staff were so nice ,friendly and helpful they couldn't have been better. We have stayed twice before
in the Gloria Palace San Augstin with no complaints.

My pal & I enjoyed Christmas at this hotel last year and were so impressed we returned this year too. If anything, it was even better. Without exception, all the staff appear dedicated to helping visitors to enjoy the experience, from reception to room cleaners. The food is to die for, with loads of choice, and the Christmas Day dinner was exceptional, the choices catered for every taste, every country and religion.

Great location, very spacious rooms with excellent balconies (incl two sun beds) and super views to the ocean. The spa was great, clean and with excellent service. Sun beds by the pools available at all times. The bathrooms desperately need updating as well as the pool areas and the snack bar by the pool. The fitted carpet in the room should be replaced with hard wood floor or similar; the carpet smelled like a wet dog! We had all inclusive, the buffet was ok but very repetitive. Drinks were good quality, original brands. Being a 4 star hotel it was a bit surprising that all the plates in the restaurant were missing chips....
We had experiences of both great and poor service here. Some of the staff members seemed totally bored with their jobs and did not pay any attention to clients. Some were very polite, smiling and attentive. Sent a room request 8 months prior arrival, but they could not meet the request... The reception staff did not give us any advise on hotel practices, for example that one should book the hospitality room on departure day in advance. They told us about the room, but never mentioned that booking is obligatory. Neither did they tell us that all inclusive was available on departure day even after checking out the room.
Nice hotel, needs refurbishment and for the staff a little bit of attitude improvement.

+1
We returned to the Gloria Palace for a 5 night stay. Booked direct with the hotel as we have done on previous visits, seem to get the best value doing it this way.
We chose to stay on an All Inc basis as this offers best value for money as drinks can be pricey.
Hotel has had a full refurb whilst closed over the covid lockdown. Rooms are now tiled throughout and bathrooms very tastefully decorated.
Both pools have been completely re-tiled and now both infinity pools looking out over the ocean (awesome views)
Whilst we were there the lifts were being reconditioned and seemed to work a lot better than on previous visits.
Food is as to be expected with a vast array of options, I’m sure the even the fussy amongst us will find something to eat.
The hotel has placed a lot of hand sanitiser stations around all parts of the hotel, although we did find a lot of these were empty by mid morning and were not replenished till the following morning.
Service around the upper pool snack bar was poor, it wasn’t clear whether you had to wait at the bar to order food or remain seated, but we waited approx 15 mins before our order was taken, after this we used the restaurant for lunch.
All in all we had a lovely stay and will definitely stay again.
If you require a transfer to the hotel from the airport, it’s definitely worth contacting the hotel in the first instance (€110 return family of four)
Thanks, looking forward to returning.

This was my 9th visit to this hotel. Absolutely wonderful. I have made many friends over the years who are also repeat guests. The rooms are very spacious and the beds are comfortable. Eva who looked after the room did an excellent job. The activities laid on throughout the day run by the entertainment team are fun and I would like to say a special thank you to them. The location of the hotel is perfect with a lift down to the coastal path and easy walking distance to Amadores Beach one direction and the shops and restaurants of Puerto Rico the other. Reception can be very busy at times and can be a little frustrating when you need to queue to have your room key or wristband reset. Lovely stay.

Arrived at the hotel at around 12.30pm on the 6th of September, reception staff were brilliant, very friendly and got us checked in quickly, our rooms were ready which was a bonus.
Our room was gorgeous, spotless clean, view of the ocean, large balcony with a small table and two chairs and two sun loungers. Rooms have a fridge and complementary bottles of water, rooms cleaned and towels changed each day, a note to leave on the bed when you want your bed linen changed.
There are two pool area's, one has a playground and entertainment the other was quieter, both had infinity pools, always plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas, we stayed at the quieter pool.
We were half board, but after the first day decided to upgrade to all inclusive, it cost €29 per person per day, this covered lunch, all drinks and snacks so was a no brainer, even having lunch and water would almost cover the daily charge.
I can be a fussy eater and always found something to eat, there was such a variety, freshly cooked meats and fish at the cooking station, an array of dishes at the buffet, salads, breads, and of course sweet treats.
The snack bar at the pool served fresh pizza, toasted sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, we ate at it a couple of times and it was tasty, great to get something small to keep you going.
We attended the evening entertainment one evening and it wasn't great, but we strolled down to Puerto Rico in the evenings and found plenty of entertainment to keep us happy, taxi back cost less than €5.
The walk to the beach is about 10 minutes either way, but the pool and view are so nice we only went one day.
Every member of staff in this hotel are friendly, welcoming and do their best to make sure you are looked after.
I would definitely recommend this hotel, and am looking forward to booking and visiting again.

My friend and I stayed here for 4 nights over a long weekend. The hotel is huge with 4 accommodation blocks joined by the central reception area and bar area below. It is a complicated place to get around until you get used to it. You go UP to the first floors and DOWN to the 7th floors. We did enjoy our stay, most of the staff were friendly and the pools and bar areas nice too. 15 mins walk to Amadores beach with lots of shops snd restaurants on the beach. 10 minute walk to Puerto Rico beach, shops and restaurants. We found the local restaurants quite expensive so full board at this hotel is a very good option.
Bus 91 from airport is €6 and goes almost directly to Puerto Rico bus station but you have to take a very short taxi trip to hotel as there is no pathway.
Pros:
Large rooms with nice views and large balconies
Friendly staff
Nice common areas
Centrally located
Heated pool with some activities (sea is freezing)
Excellent choice at breakfast buffet and very tasty, extremely busy at peak times
Cons:
No signage to tell you what floor you are on or directions to anywhere e.g even spa entrance does not have a sign on the door
Lots of towels on sun beds to ‘reserve’ them but nobody actually on them for hours and hours. This should be addressed.
Lots of trainees on reception desk who, although friendly, didn’t know the answers to any of our simple questions - annoying and very time consuming
Massage in spa was not very good.....another trainee!
Thalasso pool was cold
Temperamental, slow and squeaky lifts that got stuck a few times
Euros 55 in a taxi each way which takes 28 minutes (unless you get bus 91).
