Extremely poor service, rude staff members, breakfast which is included is tasteless and unacceptable. The most annoying part is there is no WiFi. If you have any service except BSNL, you will not have any range, and there is no WiFi so for any emergency you are out of contact.

MTDC Resort Mahabaleshwar is a beautiful and absolutely peaceful property located in a serene and natural environment. It is a very old property that reminds me of the british colonial architecture. Stay there if you are a nature lover and not a "luxury seeker" because you wouldn't find any luxuries there. Food is delicious, and staff is a group of very simple but extremely warm and courtious people who will mesmerize you with their helpful nature. The only two things you will desperately miss are Mobile Network (there is absolutely no connectivity) and WiFi, which I actually considered as a blessing for me.

We were positively suprised with this place. The rooms are huge, clean, well maintained. Perfect place if you like basic but well maintained rooms, away from mad rush. Like other MTDC properties, this resort is huge. It is spread across 40 acres of land parcel and caters to all segments of society. Though ony few categories of rooms are available as they are recently renovated. We have wide optins to choose from. Heritage rooms, heritage suite, executive suite, family rooms, writer room, etc. We had booked executive suite.
MTDC resort is 2kms away from Mahabaleshwar bus depot on Mahabaleswar - Poladpur road. Rooms are extra spacious and extremely well maintained. Linen was spotless and interiors well maintained. There are two restaurants in the property that offers good food. Though not a Woww, but nothing to complain about either. Room service is available, but can take time as the restaurant is 5 mins walk from the executive room. In fact we would recommend Shreyas hotel for good food which is not too far from MTDC. Its multicuisine restaurant and menu is exhaustive.
Only thing we felt needs improvement is the outdoors. Though the rooms are extremely well maintained, outdoors are neglected. Considering the area of the property, it is difficult to miantain, but still some basic well maintained garden and kids play area can do wonders.
If you are looking out for property with mesmerizing views, huge swimming pool, indoor games, then this property is not for you. But if you are not a party animal, like to be close to nature, love silence, then this is for you. It is just not like typical hotel gives a different feel all together. You have to be there to feel it. Especially in rains..its mesmerizing. This place is definitely on our list during our next visit to Mahabaleshwar.

This is probably the best resort to stay in Mahabaleshwar. It has vintage construction, with some rooms constructed in the 19th century. We stayed in Writer's suite, which is a luxury room. it has a living room, a bedroom, a reading room, changing room and bathroom. Changing room has a closet and a mini refrigerator. The resort restaurant is nice and provides tasty food at reasonable prices. Room service is provided, but takes time. Buffet breakfast is free, but has limited items like Idli, Poha, Brad-Butter and Tea-Coffee. Overall, this place offers value for money. Enclosing some photos of Writer's suite.

i had stayed in the property quite some years back and posted a review titled "Avoid if possible". i literally have to eat my words given the transformation this property and the authorities have undertaken. i booked into a Writer's Suite which was effectively a 2 full and 2 small rooms for a great value. The first impression on entering the room was the remarkable change in cleanliness, improved furniture's and completely renovated bath and washroom, the latter matching any 5 star property. the suite as is obvious from the number of rooms was huge, the extra bed provided again in line with what one gets from most top hotels. the significant other change in the property was the approach and service by the staff who were actually trying to help out in any possible manner. the only minor issue we faced was the complete lack of network on the private operators network inside the room (in a way forced us to have a real good break). the restaurant Venna had plenty of options, has been given an overhaul including the smart menu book !!! Overall one of our BEST MTDC stays and a place which one will surely come back. hence am changing my title from the previous review. Compliments to the authorities

Property is great. But the people managing the resort know nothing about hospitality.
Would give 4 stars for property only But reduced 2 stars due to restaurant and service.
The property is huge and it's not feasible for you to walk their restaurant from your rooms if you're travelling with a small kid.
They do provide food at your rooms.
One morning its was drizzling (Not raining, but just light drizzle). When called for breakfast the person on phone flatly refused to provide it at rooms. He said because of heavy rain they cannot provide at room. You need to come to restaurant. They run a resort in a high rainfall place like Mahabaleshwar and yet are unprepared to deal with a passing morning drizzle (light rain). Just keeping an umbrella would not hurt anyone.
On the day of Checkout a person knocks the door saying Checkout time is 9:00 am. And we were reminded every 30 minutes to vacate the room. 9:00 am Checkout is absurd. And if such is the strict rules they should tell us before hand or atleast mention in the mail that we get upon booking.

This is undoubtedly best place to stay at Mahabaleshwar. Barely 2 km from city market and shopping street, surrounded by trees and dense forest, it offers peaceful stay close to nature. Sunset point is closeby about 1.5 km. There is restaurant which serves breakfast, I will recommend you to try Sonali restaurant near Rajbhavan which is walking distance of about 400 mtr and offers excellent food. Cottage rooms that we booked were modern and spacious. Huge balcony to seat out enjoy the forest view and have your tea. Beware of monkey's though. They snatch food and even open sliding windows to sneak in room. Keep windows locked. I had nice long morning walks in the huge property. There is no wifi in room and cellphone network coverage is poor and available only at one spot in front of reception. Data simply doesn't work and I had four days of digital detox during my stay. Will recommend this stay for all those who are looking to escape busy hectic city life and relax for few days.

We stayed between 26-28 Sep'22 and incidentally 27th Sep was World Tourism Day :). They felicitated us and ensured that our stay was comfortable. Although monkeys and other animals were there but the level of hospitality and value for money was far ahead from that. Thank you.

Very old property Managed more or less well, No body is answerable for any queries- There is no range for mobiles so urgent communication is not possible They don’t provide wifi - if you plan work from home like renting place then forget All the property is covered by plastic in monsoon so feeling of suffocation is there,
Plus point is rooms are very big and they kept property clean

The MTDC at Mahabaleshwar has over 100 rooms, spread over an expansive and utterly wild, green topography. Tariffs are INR 4000 per night on a weekend for the higher range rooms--we stayed at the Heritage Room, which was great, with heritage furniture. The Venna Lake is close by. Their restaurant is named after the lake. We loved the food too. The monsoons made the place even more magical. All the MTDCs are undergoing a major revamp so be sure to check them out on your next visit.

It depends on the type of room. In standard and similar rooms, 2 people can stay and 3rd can be accommodated with some extra charge.
However, the family room is like a 2 bedroom apartmenr with 2 bed rooms with king size bed, 1 hall, 2 toilests and 1 store. It can accommodate 4 people and against some additional charge, 2 more can be accommodated.
The cottage room also accomodates 4-6 people
Yes, definitely. The rooms are cleaned everyday by the staff. Filtered water is available in the rooms, but you may have to buy your own mineral water.
Only thing is not to let the child play outside alone, as there are monkeys in the campus. Let an adult accompany the toddler.
There are more places to choose from in the Mahabaleshwar area.
