As an old guest at HONEYWOOD I had to post this review. As usual the hospitality is at a different level, extremely personal and homely. The food is mouth watering ( pls feel free to give personal instructions while placing your order). Staff is very helpful. And the newest addition the fantastic swimming pool with an infinity edge that over looks the forest. The pool is has a sweet picket fence all around it so is very safe for the kids. There is a beautiful tree cover as well so the kids can swim during the peak of the afternoon. ( 2 pm to 4 pm is quiet time) which was a pleasant surprise for my kids who thoroughly enjoyed themselves. it’s a visual and obvious that the owners are making improvements by leaps and bounds at HoneyWood please do keep it up we will certainly be back.

Private great location and peaceful
We were looking for a place with a pool and came accross Honeywood. Very inviting photos and we were happy that the pool was very well maintained with a gorgeous surrounding. Rooms were large. We were a group of 4 families and took 1 villa and 2 forest chalets. The forest chalets are close to the pool and have a lovely view. The villa was large with 2 rooms and a hall dinning. So if you have kids and want some well deserved privacy during your holiday then the villa is appropriate as the kids can spend time watching TV in the hall and even sleep there. The staff provided us with extra beds there. We enjoyed the pool and the Barbeque in the evening. Value money.. Must visit

Returned from a 3 night stay at Honeywood, our 3rd visit and place has maintained its standard despite difficulties of last 18 months of disruptions of Pandemic. Its our favourite as they are always ready to welcome our three 4 legged kids! Nice suites of 2 bedroom, each with attached bath, plus attached large dinning sitting space is very convenient for our full family. Food quality is very good and always freshly prepared for you, though you need to order 2 hours in advance.

Stayed here for our honeymoon in June 2014, firstly you should have your own vehicle to reach this remote place. its very scary at the night time since you are literally cut off from market due to its remote location. no cellphone coverage. owner does not live here and bookings are arranged over telephone. staff include some local boys who cook and serve what is available in their stock. there is no specialist cook here. they prepared bad food for dinner and that too at heavenly prices. when we stayed here it was raining heavily and we do found some unwanted guests in rooms (crabs). there are much better options available near the market place at much more affordable prices.

We discovered Honeywood through a net search for our recent stay in Mahabaleshwar. The location is good and the owner who lives in Pune sounded genuine and friendly on the phone, giving us a reasonable deal. We originally wanted 4 nights but the owner said he could offer 2 nights initially though he would try for 4. In the meantime we arranged the next 2 nights at Panchgani - a blessing in hindsight.

The young lady who showed us to our room when we reached, was warm and friendly. Unfortunately we did not see her again during our stay.

We were the only guests when we arrived. Our room was spacious and neat but with no privacy due to both windows facing the main drive way. There was another room across the passage overlooking the forest but I think there was some work going on though it was given out for the night to some other visitors. The bathroom was decent sized but the toilet seat was stained and I had to clean this with the Dettol that I always carry just in case! The plus side was that we also had access to a lounge and dining area just outside our room and with no one in the adjoining guest room, this was ours for all practical purposes.

Due to the remote location, we ordered dinner in the hotel - their veg. thali. This was another disaster. The chapathis were leathery as though they had been heated up from the previous meals left overs, the vegetable was barely a teaspoonful in a bowl of watery gravy and the dal was overly bland. I complained about the quality of the meal to the kitchen in charge the next morning but was curtly told that what was given was what was there, take it or leave it.

There was no kettle in the room that one normally expects, and though they serve "bed tea" as part of the room rate, this was not forthcoming until well past 8am the next morning. For those who wake early, and who would not want to wake early to enjoy nature at its best in Mahabaleshwar, you will be stuck if you are addicted to your morning cuppa. I can understand if they do not serve at 6 or even 6.30am but surely one can expect a cup of tea or coffee at 7? We had requested an early morning cuppa the previous evening but the man running the kitchen was very firm and curt about the kitchen opening only after 8. There is no chaiwalla, no shop, no nothing around so one is dependant on the hotel's staff for these basics.

Breakfast was sheer stodge. The choice was toast, eggs or poha. We ordered poha thinking it would be good since it is a local Maharashtrian dish. Poha is the simplest and fastest item to prepare and really difficult to get wrong for even the most inexperienced of cooks. Whoever made the poha at Honeywood ought to be ashamed of himself. After that experience we wisely decided to partake of lunch outside. Again due to the remote location, we had dinner the next night at Honeywood. This time, we opted for chapathi sabzi instead of the thali and we cautioned the cook about the vegetable. The vegetables were much better than the previous evening but the chapathis were still like leftovers heated up. Ironically, the restaurant is called Fine Dine. Fine Dine? Nothing could be further from the truth.

When we checked out the next morning, the same man from the kitchen was quite rude, questioning our decision to check out. He phoned the owner complaining that we were checking out when we were supposed to stay for 4 nights. This was the last straw. The owner was genuinely nice when we spoke on the phone and we were eagerly looking forward to this stay. I am sure we would have had a good stay had the owners been present. It is a pity that this one staff member created such a negative impact, so much so that I would be loathe to consider coming here again.

The plus point:
The location is good, with dense forest cover around, near Kate's Point. The rooms are spacious. Not sure about wifi as we had our own dongle which had a good signal - a tall mobile tower is very nearby!

I pride myself on being scrupulously fair in my reviews. I can not emphasise enough that the owners Mr Chinoy sounded genuinely interested in ensuring that his guests have a pleasant stay. My piece of advice for what it is worth is that the man running the show in the owner's absence, needs strict supervision if not outright replacement with someone more service oriented.

To begin with, you would feel like being in your dream home. Let me try to put forth my opinion in bullets:

Pros:
1. Location: Right in the heart of the forest, away from the concrete Jungle of city. Serenity and Peace is what you can expect and would certainly get there. All that you would hear is birds chirping and natural waterfall.

2. Staff: Courteous and Responsive to say the least. I have innumerable examples for this. Petrol in my bike went out, they got it for me from market. I didn't like the room and it was upgraded in minutes.

3. Amenities: Luxurious would aptly describe what you can figure out based on my photos too. I would say you would feel extremely comfortable while you stay there.

4. Pricing:
It's extremely competitive as compared to other bigger brands of Hotels and Resorts at Mahabaleshwar. I would say it's bang on Value for Money kind of Hotel.

Cons:
1. Location: It's located 4 Km off the main road and that's the only thing that can bother you, if you are not on your own vehicle or don't like peace else it's literally Mini-Heaven.

I can genuinely not think of anything else that would be a deal breaker. You would have the time of your life while you are there. They have earned me as a loyal customer and with so many awesome moments there I have also become their brand ambassador (unpaid though 😅).

Regards,
Pramod Tiwari.

Every hotel seems overpriced in Mahabaleshwar... though there is never any guarantee for service or quality.
Honeywood on the other is an excellent place. It is perfect for families travelling in large numbers... the rooms are very spacious and spotlessly clean.
The service is prompt and Mr. and Ms Chinoy take personal care on every front. The food is simple and delicious... just like home cooked food.
We were there in December and Mr. Chinoy suggested a barbeque on the lawn. Nothing like an angeeti in the biting cold!
All in all an excellent place to stay at and a great experience.

This property is one of the few remaining that maintains the charm of old style Mahabaleshwar. We had a room with a balcony and a forest view. Meals are made to order and the portions are generous. Lovely omelettes, biryani and barbecue. A very laid-back and tranquil experience. Did not have air-conditioning, so may not be ideal in the summer months-they do have pedestal fans. It is located in Old Mahabaleshwar and the quiet roads make it ideal for long walks. Avoiding wet bathrooms and better linen would be my suggestions.

Decent place away from all the hustle bustle, property is small, with very few offerings in terms of food & activities but the staff makes up for it by their dedication & services
We loved it since the idea was to relax
room could have been better in terms of ventilation etc.
