We absolutely loved our stay here! A beautiful garden with hammocks and 35 pet turtles, including George the giant land turtle!! We met Galo when enquiring about boat trips and he told us about this place, which is ran by his lovely mum, Gladys. They were both so helpful and went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. Sitting...

We stayed at the Villa Colombia for a week in August. This Hostel, owned and operated by Sra. Gladys, is just a little slice of heaven! The grounds are so quaint, lots of hammocks to hang around in, and nice gardens. "Jor" the 40-year-old turtle comes to visit at lunchtime when Gladys calls him and he enjoys his lunch. Conchita...

The owner is welcoming and gives advice for restaurants and activities. The breakfast is delicious, it consists of coffee or tea with eggs, bread and a variety of fruits, very filling! The hostel is 3 blocks from the beach, 10 minute walk. The room we stayed in accommodated 3 people with one bunk bed, each bed had its own mosquito...

I was at Via Columbia for a week or two in the Spring (2014). I chose an upstairs room with a balcony in the older, wooden section, but I moved to the newer building. The location (-1.561367528, -80.8108) is not on the beach, but it is convenient to the Malacon, shops, and restaurants. I enjoyed the company of Terry &...

The hostel is very centrally located, just a few mins fom the bus stop and busy main street and a few more mins to the beach. However, the hostel is very quiet and you hear nothing of the bustling street. Our host was fantastic an super helpful - told us everything we needed to know to get around and suggested...

There are some good things about this hostel, including it's amenities and breakfast. It is clean and away from the noise of the beachfront. The staff were friendly at first and did seem genuinely keen to please. However our overall experience was sorely let down by their dishonest practices. First of all, we were quoted price of $35 pp for...

This hostal is about three block from the beach. We moved there after two nights of loud music at a hostal 1/2 block off the beach. This turned out to be a great decision. The private room cost us $20 with peace and quiet. The family run operation was efficient and friendly. They also operate aventuraslaplata whale watching tours which...

Super easy to arrange whale watching family can't do enough to help you! Seeing whales today made me cry with emotion, sooo beautiful!

Villa Colombia in Puerto Lopez is a really beautiful place. As soon as you get inside you discover a green and charming place. There is a kitchen and the son of the lady who owns the hotel organises trips around Puerto Lopez and tours to Isla de la Plata. The lady is one of the kindest persons I met in...
