Tlacotalpan is a lovely town on a picturesque river. We had a big room on the river side. However, the hotel is a little rundown and poorly maintained - the toilet seat was broken, hot water was intermittent at best - and it wasn't very clean.

I spent one night here in the "suite" overlooking the river, the room is big, the AC was working fine, I love the sound of AC and for me it was not an inconvenience that it was kind of loud (is a very old unit). The room was clean, the hotel was empty, we were probably the only ones there....

wonderful little hotel right on the river. very nice and accomodating staff, they meet your every need. the rooms are very ample, comfortable bed, maybe not enough lighting in the bathroom, but everything is clean, and the air conditioner is awesome. we visited in may, which is not in season, so the restaurant was not open, but we brought our...

This hotel is good price for quality with a lot of ambiance. The rooms are clean, cool and spacious, the beds are comfortable and the staff are friendly and offer good service. There is a staff member who can assist you in English if you don't speak Spanish. Try their delicious breakfasts on the balcony by the river in the...

Even though I was the only one for the "suite", which is a king size bed, I decided to pay the extra money so I could have the balcony and view of the river. My friends and I seem to be the only ones in the hotel even though it was Sunday. So the hotel was quiet and the view...

A few years ago it was a great place to stay. Now the rooms lack maintenance and look bad. The air conditioner was really noisy. Tlacotalpan is a great place to visit and really recommend it. I hope that casa del rio will sort out their maintenance issues

In June, Tlacotalpan is hot, that is gauranteed. Fortunately, at Casa del Río they have a fantastic air condition system that works very well. We took two rooms as we brought our daughter and in both everything worked just fine. The hotel is very beautiful and beeing able to see the Papaloapan from my room is a great experience. Breakfast...

We spent one hot and stuffy night at this hotel. We had been traveling for 8 hours and had already made a deposit which was not refundable. The room we had reserved was not usable because the air conditioner was broken. We were taken by the owner's enthusiastic assistant to all the other available rooms. None were habitable due to...

If you get to Tlacotalpan, an out of the way World Heritage Site, you are adventourous. Hotel Casa del Rio is the place to go. It is a family owned beautiful house by the Papaloapan River. We had a large room with an spectacular window on the river. Breakfast in the terrace was great!! It is not the Ritz, but...

The room (the 'suite') we had was bare, no extra furniture (like armchairs, table), although the bathroom and shower were good. Fortunately the windows (overlooking the river) shut tight, thus prventing thousands of mosquitos from coming in. Breakfast was very simple, and over-priced. Beware of sundowners on the 'terrace' by the river - mosquitos again. There must be better options...
