Certificate of Excellence
Set in an area of designated natural beauty in the foothills of the Clwydian hills Pentre Mawr Country House has a lovely romantic feel to it...set as it is in nearly 200 acres of meadows, park and woodland. There are all the little extras that you would expect in a fine country house at Pentre but it is run on a much softer line. Meals are served either in the Oak room or the formal dining room but with none of the stuffiness. We are delighted to announce that we have received 5 Stars and a dining award from the AA There are two lovely sitting rooms all with comfy sofas and portraits of Graham's ancestors. The hidden walled garden is a lovely place to sit and read or just relax and smell the roses. We are more than happy to welcome guest dogs as we have two collies and two cats of our own here.

This really is an amazing wedding venue. From our very first meeting with Bre, Graham and Lorna we were made to feel like the most important people in the world.

The location and setting are beautiful: a large country house and grounds in the gorgeous North Wales countryside. Y

Pentre Mawr as a venue is an amazing location and is completely unique, however, Bre, Graham and Lorna make this venue what it is. They look after you from the day you first go to visit. On the actual day they are so attentive that you don't have to worry about a thing or look at

We were lucky enough to stay at Pentre Mawr for a family wedding this week and couldn’t fault the venue or our extremely attentive hosts. We stayed in one of the African lodges with an outdoor jacuzzi and loved it! The house is so lovely from the room where we ate the pre wedding

Lovely location - great evening- Lorna was very welcoming and took our luggage upstairs for us. The bed was really comfortable- the room a bit dark and dated and without wishing to be too critical, it was difficult to use the bathroom for make up as there was no shelf to put any

Thank you for your review. I’m glad you enjoyed your evening. It was truly a fabulous party with such lovely guests. You would probably have preferred one of our cottage suites which are ultra-modern. This was a party booking and your host allocated the rooms so I’m sorry that you were not in the room of your choice but it was outside our control. Pentre Mawr is a listed house and the rooms in the main house are furnished in keeping with the period of the house with fine antiques and best quality carpets and curtains. We are limited by what we can do in the house so each room has an electric make up mirror which lights up and can be used on the dressing table to do your make up. Apologies if you didn’t see it as it’s stored in the wardrobe with your robes, hairdryer and iron and ironing board. I hope you found the time to use the double jacuzzi bath and enjoyed that too. We really want everyone to have a super time here at Pentre Mawr and between our traditional 3 rooms in the main house with all the extras like Nespresso coffee machines, double showers and huge jacuzzi baths and our cottage suite and African lodges all of which have private hot tubs we try to account for every taste. Apologies if we didn’t succeed in this case.

Can anyone give me a rough idea of range of prices to hire the venue for a wedding? I know it will depend on details of the wedding but there is no point in going to look if it is totally out of our price range. Thanks :D
I don’t know how much my daughter paid but I know it was much better value than hotel quotes in Betws y Coed, everything was clear, no hidden nasties and Pentre Mawr delivered all they promised and more. Strongly recommend speaking to them and if they are in your reach, use them.

can someone tell me the prices of drinks in the hotel and is the a taxis service available
Any one know if there is WiFi in the safari tents? (not so we can be antisocial but we have a small music speaker that only works with WiFi)
No, there is free wifi in the house but doesn't get past the stone walls.

"Stay in the lodges (Tents) so much fun"
"Any room you stay in you will not be disappointed"
"All the rooms in the house were pretty luxurious and the lodges (tents) very well appointed"
"Don't use the safari tents unless the temperature outside is safari level"
"All rooms are superb. Choose from house rooms with 4 poster beds and jacuzzis or cottage suites and luxurious safari lodges with hot tubs."
