The Kokkini Porta Rossa hotel in Rhodes was an absolute dream for our honeymoon. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, going above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The attention to detail in the hotel was also outstanding, with every aspect of the hotel being immaculately kept and beautifully decorated. We stayed in the Michalis suite and I'd love to come back - except I also want to try the other suites! We were particularly impressed with how the hotel curated our itinerary for every day of the trip. They made sure that we had the perfect balance of relaxation and adventure, and we were able to experience so many amazing things that we wouldn't have otherwise known about. Nikos and Angela are so well connected throughout Rhodes and they made our trip 100x better than if we had planned it ourselves. Overall, our stay at the Kokkini Porta Rossa hotel was a truly unforgettable experience and we would recommend it to anyone looking for an amazing stay in Rhodes old town. You absolutely must stay here!…
I recently had the pleasure of staying at Kokkini Porta Rossa, a lovely jewel located in a restored historical building in Rhodes Old Town. It was a delightful experience made more so by the warmth and hospitality of my hosts (and the hotel’s owners), Angela, Nikos and their son Paris. This is a true 5-star luxury hotel experience, in a class above any luxe chain hotel, with every need and desire of the guest met in the most gracious manner. Each day started with a heavenly breakfast, created by Angela and her assistant, in the hotel’s refreshingly cool courtyard, filled with flowering plants and trees. Nikos provided me with an easy-to-use tablet, loaded each day with a customized itinerary and directions, for me and my friends to use to travel around the city and also the island. The hotel itself has been beautifully crafted, with comfortable, contemporary furniture at ease alongside bespoke furnishings and unique objets d’art. Evenings in the hotel were a delight as well as son Paris played soft and enchanting piano melodies to the delight of myself and the other guests. Kokkini Porta Rossa awakened and engaged all of my senses – taste, touch, sight, sound and smell – in the most pleasing and vibrant environment. My stay was a truly memorable experience, made so by the genuine care and friendship offered to me by Nikos, Angela and Paris. I do look forward to visiting again one day! John D., Singapore…
In the old town of Rhodes, you are transported back in time, and that experience doesn't end when you stat at Kokkini Porta Rossa. This is an elegant affair, a superlative bed and breakfast. We were greeted by the improvisational mid century jazz standards on piano by Paris, the son of our hosts, Nikos & Angela. The design, hospitality and catering (4-course breakfast!) has no peer. The place is a labor of love from a veteran of Rhodes' luxury hotel scene and a polymath amateur machinist...And their brilliant son. Our room was beautifully appointed, well stocked mini bar with ample indoor and outdoor space.
Nikos & Angela deserve the grand prize for service and attention to detail. Our week with them was flawlessly guided by their deep knowledge and love of Rhodes. Their hospitality simply makes you melt. Simply stated, if you don’t stay with them, you will regret it.
We recently stayed here for a long weekend during our honeymoon. I cannot say enough good things about this wonderful place. Nikos and Angela were amazing hosts. They have truly thought of EVERYTHING when designing their hotel. No detail is forgotten. The rooms are luxurious and completely stocked with every toiletry, snack, and comfort you could think of. The breakfast they serve each morning is delicious and beautifully done. The drinks in the evening had us planning our day around coming back to the hotel to sit in the beautiful garden and have a drink. Beyond the absolute beauty and perfection of the actual hotel space, the thoughtfulness of Nikos and Angela is something I’ve never experienced in all of my travels. They have created their own app that shows you how to get anywhere in Rhodes, where to eat, and how to get back to the hotel no matter where you’re at. Nikos took time out of each day to set up a specialized list of tourist recommendations based on our interests and wants. It truly was so much more than a hotel stay – this was an experience where you felt truly taken care of and excited to come back to the hotel each night. I would honestly come back to Rhodes just to stay at Kókkini Porta Rossa again.…
My husband and I and our adult son were lucky enough to stay in the beautiful Kokkini Porto Rosa. We arrived from the airport at midnight and Nikos was waiting for us with a welcome drink and lots of wonderful info about Rhodes. The gorgeous garden area was perfect place to unwind after an entire day of travel. The room we stayed in was beautiful with all the drinks and assorted snacks you could want. There was anything you could need in the room in the way of toiletries etc. Our first morning at the Kokkini Porto Rosa Nikos shared recommendations on what to see, where to eat along with a map and tablet with GPS. That was after a delicious breakfast created by Angela. We would come back to Rhodes just to stay in theiswonderful hotel. Thank you Nikos and Angela for making our stay so special.…
Everything was close to perfection from the moment we arrived until our departure. The personal attention from Angela, Nikos and Paris made us feel we were welcome guests in their own home. The location within the old town is perfect and the garden is an oasis of peace and quiet. Not to mention the setting for the most wonderful exotic breakfasts one could imagine. Our room was large, quiet and comfortable. The complimentary bars were a welcome temptation accompanied by Paris on the piano. Nikos' programmable app made getting around the sights easy and relaxing. Angela was a delightful host with her knowledge of Rhodes, the Anatolian Greeks and Australia. Also to be commended was the excellent guided tour we had with Michailis. Have stayed in Rhodes a number of times and can safely say that the Kókkini Porta Rossa is an experience which should not be missed. …
From the moment you arrive at the red door inside the walled town, you are promptly met by Paris and Nikos as they help you with your luggage and guide you into the lovely courtyard whereas Angela gives you a cool glass of hibiscus tea with biscuits gracing on the tiny silver round tray to settle in. Nikos then goes over what your interests are and sets up itinerary plans on their provided tablets for you to use. What an amazing kick off for your stay at the lovely restored inn! The Katina room was lovely and I will let Nikos show you all these incredible surprises in the room for your use. The bathtub was perfect and the bedding is a dream- I hated to get up! There's something special about the bed and the pillows...The inn has been lovingly restored and you can see all the artitifacts plus art displayed around the grounds. They go beyond and above their hospitality to ensure you are welcome and that is the epitome of the Greek hospitality with their offerings to you...oh my goodness. One of the best I ever experienced with all of my travels- I am still thinking about the level of hospitality service and all the details were left unturned for you. Just amazing. In the evenings when you return from your outings, you are handed a glass of wine (of your choice) and you savor in the atmosphere or meet with other guests in the courtyard/ library before your dinner reservations. Just lovely. The breakfasts in the courtyard. Wow. What. a. feast. The presentation is lovely as you can see how much thought they put into presentation and the each course is just simply divine. It was always exciting to see what each morning's breakfast would bring and I am still salivating over the dishes to this day. Nikos' restaurant recommendations were spot on and I immensely enjoyed the food and ambience very much. The suggested activities were great- the enchanting garden park is not to be missed; as well as doing the 1.5 mile walk atop of the defense wall wrapping up front of their inn at the end and the Jewish museum was worth a visit. I learned so much about the Jewish community on the island. It was incredibly helpful to have the provided tablet with directions and the tidbits of the activities. Who else offers this kind of service around the world? This is one of the reasons why they stand out because of this. Nikos, Angela and Paris truly make you feel like at home away from home--and being part of the family! It's all these little details and how they make you feel which makes this experience so exceptional and you must book this lovely boutique inn- do it. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for everything. Such an enchanting memory. …
One of the nicest places we have ever stayed. Kokkini is a small hotel with only a handful of rooms and each is spacious and beautifully decorated with a uniquely authentic feel. It is right inside a medieval walled city gate on a quiet street. Angela is an exceptional cook and her multi course breakfasts were the best food we had in Rhodes - worth skipping dinner so you have a big appetite in the morning. Nikos helps you plan every day and provides great suggestions for what to see off the beaten track and where to eat - and will organise it all for you if you want. Really fantastic
A lovingly restored building filled with interesting & beautiful antique furnishing’s and objects this boutique hotel is one of the finest we have ever visited. Located in the old city just minutes away from one of the city gates. Call ahead for car service to the front door. Modern bathroom fixtures, perfumes and toiletry supplies provided. Climate controlled rooms with European style windows for ventilation. Free open bar in the room or downstairs with selected liquors, wine etc. In the room: illy espresso machine, suitcase scale, iron & ironing board, bathrobes and slippers, beach bag with towels & water bottles (bottles to take home). A good quality bottle of Prosecco in the fridge along with snacks and other drinks. A small safe, 24 hour charging for several devices (taking your key shuts off everything else) Beds are very comfortable. Electronic Pad for your stay with custom app for navigation to suggested restaurants, attractions, museums etc. and all around the island if you want to rent a car. Wifi is reliable. Multi course fresh breakfast every morning with tea, Espresso or French press coffee and fresh squeezed juice. Breakfast is served on china with silver and linen in a beautiful courtyard. OR a go bag of food on request if you want to venture out before 8. The owners son plays beautiful piano downstairs in the afternoons. The owners Nikos and Angela are available all day and via phone or text any time. Advice is available for anything you want to do, there is an arrival interview with Nikos where anything you want to do is discussed and planned, then custom recommendations are uploaded to your rooms electronic pad. Location is away from the congested tourist streets yet convenient to the old city center (plan to do a lot of walking). Although it is located on a busy “street” where illegal car and scooter traffic is frequent the windows are soundproof. The ancient walled city of Rhodes is rather touristic in spots but clean and welcoming. The port serves numerous cruise ships so timing your visits to some attractions is wise The streets are full of friendly cats who are somewhat annoying when begging in the open air restaurants. Most shopkeepers and resteraunt employees speak passible English. There are many fine restaurants and bars. Several small museums, a castle and multiple archeological sites/historic structures that are easy to find. The city wall is worth the 20 minute walk which ends across the street from the hotel. A variety of tours and watersports are available. Ferries depart daily to nearby islands. Beaches vary from rocky to sandy most have chairs, umbrellas and bar service. The sea is warm and beautifully clear in season. There is a town beach within walking distance. We toured the island in a rental car arranged by the hotel. Well worth the trip to ancient cities, beaches, churches, a country resterant and a natural spring.…
