Overall first impression was very good, the new owners have done a good job decorating with warm colours and Nordic type furnitures, quality goods and attention to details at the reception and landing area, the Restaurant furniture is also quite nice. The Hotels provides 2 electrical charging points and 8/10 car space with free public car park nearby. Friendly and welcoming couple, the building on the left is original late 18th century the right handsome is more modern. The "old" building decoration is nice, lots a classic pairings reproduction, small tables and seats...all done with good taste. The rooms are nice and cosy, the front door are heavy (and fully fireproof, good heavy doors) and the beds are OK. So far so good. Now on the downside, the hotel terrace could be great, but a bit on the cheap side and not always as clean as I would expect. Not to mention that it's full of cats and some of them are quite sick, this is a real issue as we had guest who were allergic to cats and the owners were not helpful in this matter, we wanted to use the terrace for a drink and to relax we could not, same issue during breakfast when we could not access it due to those cats, this is not an issue for most but frankly not acceptable when this is the only option available (in the evening they have no restaurant so we would have liked to use this to eat some snacks and have a drinks but Nope! In addition there are signs mentioning that you cannot eat in your room...Hopefully you Love cats if not stay away. Good points: + Most of the rooms on both building are clean, well decorated and quite confortable. + The Breakfast is good value at 6€. + Electric charging points. + Located near all Bars and restaurants. To improve: - Having multiple cats arounds during Breakfast and in the terrace is a no go sorry. - Some rooms do not have AC, lighting in some rooms is an issue on the Old building (no ceiling lights). - Outdated bathroom and poor amenities. Overall, a very pleasant hotel, but not suitable for everyone a shame as the owners are putting a lot of effort into making this a cosy place.

The receptionist was very receptive, and gave a very good impression. The rooms were a bit small, but very comfortable and well kept. So for sleeping, we were very happy. It is located right on a busy road, although on the 3rd floor, we avoided being too close the noise, we did feel that we may have been breathing some less-than-healthy air. The town seemed to make a lot of effort to promote a image as a happening place, but one notices these things, and judges that they’re “trying too hard”. We were lucky to be on the far side away from the bands that played until late at night in August – all a part of the “happening place” striving effort. We were late to reserve in the summer, so we ended up here and used it as a base. In the summer that worked because we were on the motorcycle. Going to Porto Vecchio with a car in August could make you cry.

On the main road a Corsican Travel Lodge. No real sea views but clean and basic. Loveliest welcome from owner. Restaraunts around basic and narrow menu. Beach 500m away small but swimable, no pool at hotel. Good stop over Bastia to Bonafacio visa versa.

We had a perfect night there. The carpark is just in front of the hotel, the harbour and the restaurant are at a short walking distance. Our room was on the modern part, obviously recently renovated. We were on the road side but we could not hear a noise thanks to the good windows. The hostess was very welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was good. Only one "not so good" point: the coffee is terrible.

The hotel is on the main road arriving in Solenzara from the south. Quiet and clean, with all the comfort you need. 5 minutes from the port and a small cute beach. Surrounded by restaurants and bars that serve local food and product.

Stayed here two nights during a guided bus tour through the beautiful island of Corsica. We had room 24 which was on the 3th floor. It's a nice large room with twin beds and a nice bathroom with a large walk in shower. Breakfast is very good. You are in France, remember. ;-) Staff is very friendly and interested in your findings. The only negative point is that the elevator is only available as of the first floor. I would certainly return. The only

This hotel was very well located since it is near the port. We were in Solenzara for two nights which was too long since there is not much to do there. We asked the front desk for some information about day tours and activities to do around there and they had nothing to suggest. The hotel was clean and they have a luggage room to leave your bags if you need to wander around the city while you wait for your bus. The breakfast is very expensive so we didn't try it. We paid for a comfort room which is supposed to include a balcony with a view but we didn't get a nice view..

The hotel is located on the main street but is not noisy. Rooms are very clean and the reception is very kind. Two items to be improved: missing a minibar in the room and the wc is separated from the bath. Walking is possible to reach easily the harbour, the free beach (could be improved) and many interesting restaurants.

The hotel has 2 sides, a new one and an old one. The elevator is located on the 2nd floor, so you have to carry your bags yourselves one floor up and down. How strange. We were given a room on the old side looking out on the road. Small, ugly, and the bathroom was tiny and old. At 2 in the morning the music was still going on LOUD, LOUD, across the street; we called the nightwatchwoman and she gave us a room in the new side in the back. Much larger, even though the decoration was pretty bad (brown everything) and old. Bathroom was of a decent size. We were with a touring group and in the morning we were given basic French breakfast fare: bread, butter, jam; that was it. I complained to the manager that we needed some fruit at least and she gave me ... one apple. Meanwhile, the guests who were not in a group were given a much better breakfast. Would I go back there? No. And the touring groups shouldn't either.

Response from Louysa O, Propriétaire at Hôtel Maquis et Mer
Responded 17 Jun 2015
Bien cordialement
