Although an extremely bad room it is probably one of the better ones we have experienced in France. Access to the room was up a very dodgy staircase. Couldn't get the room door to open so asked at reception. The lady pulled the door towards her and then rammed her shoulder against it to open! You not strong she said 😂 The room we were told had been newly decorated so goodness knows what it was like before. The bed was comfortable, bathroom exceptionally basic. Toilet tucked back in a tiny alcove then the shower in front. No shower tray, it was like a wet room! Reception lady was very nice and helpful. Evening meal was in a conservatory type area. The waiter was very good and the meal was excellent. We never ate breakfast so cannot comment on that.
The 2 stars are for the shabby dangerous staircase (no lift) worn out landing and warped door. Staff very nice.

We were travelling to the Cote d'Azur with our son and his wife, and needed to break the long journey from Calais. Les Charmilles proved ideal. Even though its closest motorway junction was closed, it was only fifteen minuted from the motorway. The staff were very welcoming. the bar was very French basic, but OK for a relaxing beer after a long drive. The rooms were plain but comfortable and had all you could ask for. The restaurant proved to be much better than we'd expected - apart from the overheating coach trip and us, there were locals eating there. None of us had any problem with the food or the service. And it was all very reasonably priced! As it was cool enough for us to have our windows closed, the traffic on the adjoining main road did not bother us - and as a benefit for being on that road, there is a petrol station just outside the hotel and across a side road. Not all the staff speak English, so be prepared.

The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent and a very good price. Would certainly recommend the hotel if you are travelling and need a one night stay as it is very very close to the motorway exit.
The shower room was very small, and the toilet was a saniflow type system but perhaps we should have booked a more expensive room. We would return again.

As said: a good place for a stay overnight on the way to the south (or the north) . Close to the highway. Very good breakfast, nice people, small but good room. Brown calcium stains in toilet bowl should be removed to mke it perfect!@

Booked in on 14/08 to stay for 1 night (2 rooms - 1 dbl and 1 trpl).

Receptionist was the rudest person I ever said, arrogant and acted as if he is doing us a favor for sleeping there).

None of the rooms had air con. Dbl room on ground floor with window out to the restaurant terrace so cannot keep open.

Triple room stank of cigarettes and a stale smell. We asked to have it changed and the receptionist went ballistic as the corner of the bed was undone and bathroom sink dirty but obviously not from us as we never unpacked.

Booking.com already had taken payment but we still refused to stay there and left. Receptionist threatened to call manager God knows why as they already got their money for the two caves not rooms ...

Dirtiest and the most ran down hotel ever seen. Be aware pictures showed on booking.com do not reflect reality.

Dear Tibster, We are sorry to hear that you didn't appreciate the hotel. Just to let you know that it was the Assistant Manager that took care of you and he has been working her for 15 years, without any problems with the guest. Probably the 3 star standard of our rooms are not the standard you are used to, and we are really sorry about that. Kindest regards Marianne Anciaux Hotel Manager

We used this hotel as a stopover on our way home from the south of France. It’s only good point was its proximity to the A6.
The room was tired and uncomfortable. The shower cubicle and toilet had not been thoroughly cleaned. Although the Logis hotel guide stated the restaurant was gourmand standard the chef was on holiday so only a very limited menu was available. The waiting staff were less than attentive.
Some renovation was apparent due to cabling hanging in the corridor outside our room.
Thank goodness we only stayed one night. Will give this a miss in future.

Lovely staff especially in the restaurant. Really good evening meal with a choice of set menu prices. Room nice and big but quite basic. Asked for a room for 4 adults and was disappointed to find that it was a double and a bunk bed - but no big problem. Wifi terrible. pool a lovely addition that we used before leaving in the morning. Breakfast a very good standard for France with lots of choice for all nationalities.
Certainly good overnight stop within easy reach of motorway and to get into Chalons - probably not great for a longer period

On our way from Costa Dorada to Western Germany, we looked for an opportunity for a break. We found a little miracle close to Châlons sur Saône. As we travel with dogs, it is for us important that pets are welcomed. Prices are in the range of all the other chains. Here, however, one is a family style hotel and not in one of these cages-a-poules. The better, a cuisine very acceptable.

Stayed at Les Charmilles on our journey south. Comfortable room, attentive staff and a very tasty supper. Breakfast had a lot of choice, and was more than ample. Ideal stopover or for an even a longer stay.

Room small but well equipped and complimented by a large very comfortable bed with soft pillows and good linen. Did not use any of the other facilities so could not comment on them. 24 hour desk is great for catching early ferry or arriving late. Reasonably priced.
