Non-birders would enjoy the beautiful grounds, swimming hole, and nearby cultural activities. However my wife and I signed up for the seven day all-inclusive birding package, which costs $400 per person / day during the high season. This is a lot of money, enough to pay for a private trip. It was worth it! We got nearly 250 species, in...

My husband and I booked the 7 night birding package and spent the last four nights here (first three at the Canopy Tower and I wrote a separate review for that). Between both places I saw 237 species of birds and 101 were life birds and we only had six full days of birding. Our guide most of the time...

Just transited the Panama Canal and witnessed part of the construction on the new adjacent canal. However, wildlife viewing on this cruise wasn't as expected. However, our two night stay at this lodge was great. Be ready for a long drive from Panama City to this lodge and don't get depressed entering along the coastal area since the El Valle...

The grounds are beautiful. The rooms are insanely large and comfortable. The food was excellent for all the meals. The area had fantastic weather in January. It didn't rain and it was very cool. Our guide for our time at the Canopy Lodge was Moyo Rodriguez with help from Danilo Rodriguez on a couple days. Moyo was amazing at locating...

We have been blessed enough to travel to many beautiful places in the world. The Canopy Lodge in El Valle de Anton in Panama is one of the prettiest. The flora and fauna can't be beat. The gardens are full of beautiful flowers that attract birds. There are feeding stations that attract birds, butterflies and mammals. The food is excellent. The...

7 days of pure heaven. Excellent food, unbelievably good birding guides, a gracious host, cool temperatures and a plethora of exotic birds and flowers. We were up very early every day and on the road in either comfortable vans, trucks or 4-wheel drive vehicles. There were 10 in our group from various places including NYC, Canada Scotland and Florida and...

We booked the Lodge as part of a birding package recommended by friends who have also stayed here? (We also stayed at the sister site-Canopy Tower a part of the package and did a separate review.) We were transported to and from the Lodge by a safe and conscientious employee who drove sanely through some crazy traffic in Panama City...

It's a nice lodge in a wooded area outside the town. Food served in the hotel is pretty good. People are pretty nice in general. But if you don't speak Spanish, communication can be a problem at times. There are some excellent birding opportunities around the lodge. We spent four days birding in the area, mostly on dirt roads. A nature...

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide us a review of your stay at the Canopy Lodge. Your feedback is very valuable to us! You will be pleased to know that we now have a bilingual person at the lodge during non-guiding hours so if there are any questions our guests may have during dinner, we have...

We stayed here on the second part of Mass Audubon's trip to Panama, following a week at Canopy Tower. The Lodge, although not as unique a place to stay as the Tower, has bigger rooms and is a little more "cushy" stay. The food was good, our guides, Carlos and Danilo were great, and our overall stay was excellent. Where...

I chose to take advantage of the Canopy Lodge 10th Anniversary Special rate (which was offered in September of this year only) for the week-long "Birds of Canopy Lodge" birding package. Even though it was the "rainy season," my stay was exceptional. First, special words for the staff, from housekeeping to the laundry to the kitchen to the guides. The...
