What a treat this place was! And just the special experience I was looking for to bring my trip to a close. I treated myself to this place for 2 nights & was okay extra lucky to get the upstairs balcony room. Wow! I slept so well & felt so incredibly relaxed here. As others have said it’s at the quieter end of town which I liked & you can mingle with other guests of you like or you can have your own space, no pressure. All of the other guests I met were friendly & warm. Natalia was so helpful & a delight to speak to, always responded quickly to any questions! And get dog Linda is an extra special addition to the hotel. Was so amazing to watch & hear the sea & walk straight out on to an incredible part of the beach. Was easier to go out when I had the rental car but I handed it back a day early & so when it rained a taxi was necessary, even if only for what would be a 15 minute walk to a restaurant because the track gets super muddy in the rain. It’s also 30 min walk along the beach to the first ATM at the bank. That said I’d rather be away from the busy part & so it was fine for me. Was able to get a vegan ‘oat’ breakfast which was tasty. Thanks Natalia I’d love to come back one day!…
Absolutely perfect location- you can’t get it any better. Staff makes a delicious breakfast and is so kind and hospitable. Natalia Is so helpful. We were so grateful for her helpfulness & insight about the area. Room was great & clean. We hope to be back soon to Casa Cecilia
I stayed here with friends for a week and you really can't beat the location. I might stay here again if I'm back in Santa Teresa, but there were a couple of things management and the owners should know: The women who make breakfast and clean the hotel/rooms are amazing. Very kind, always smiling, very polite and quiet. The breakfasts were great. Best eggs I've ever had. I echo every good thing that's been said about this place in other reviews regarding the hammocks and the ocean. Multiple people staying on the property ignored the no-smoking rule, and one person was bold enough to smoke on the upstairs balcony and in the beach chairs consistently. I ended up having to ask him to stop smoking, but he argued that he had been staying there for two months and nobody else had asked him to stop. It should never be up to the hotel guests to enforce hotel policy. I finally saw the manager at the end of our trip, and they said they couldn't always be on site to enforce rules and genuinely thanked me, but who was this guy? He who could smoke in this non-smoking hotel for two months and management doesn't care. One of my friends had to ask a different set of guests to turn the music down, after quiet hours had already begun. Maybe these guests missed the posted sign about quiet hours, but again, this is something the hotel staff should be enforcing. Not the guests. These guests also had a multi-color strobe light flashing from their balcony, but to each their own. The bed: the pillows were the worst pillows I've slept on in I don't know how long, the linens were just barely as wide as the twin beds, and the mattress was very firm. I would bring my own pillow next time. There was mold in the bathroom, if that sort of thing bothers you. Not a deal breaker, but board games and playing cards would have been a nice touch. There's nothing to do in this hotel during the inevitable rainy green season nights. I'm a budget traveler. I don't usually spend more than $50 a night for a hotel when the exchange rate is so highly in my favor and I like to be comfortable. I've been in my fair share of bad hotels and this one isn't bad. This is a 2 star hotel, brought up to average because the grounds are so gorgeous, but it's very bare-boned and almost amenity free.…
My daughter and I loved staying at Casa Cecilia! We loved the calmness and simplicity of this hotel right on the ocean. Thank you Natalia for being so welcoming and for taking care of this place. We will come back for sure! Sara
Do not have words for how good this place is. The location is perfect, outside of town and quiet. The Last Olas room has a private balcony and it is facing the beach and Suck Rock (right rock break) which we could check from our bed... Insane setup. Natalia the host is sweet. The ladies who work here make delicious breakfast. The ocean can be heard at all times and makes for a great night sleep our king size bed. Hammocks on the beach. Cold water machine. Shared kitchen. Resident cat. Very clean and well designed place. Polite guests. Can't wait to return!
Shhhh! I love this place, I return as often as possible for the simple bliss of reading ALL day long in a hammock 100 yards from the surf. The simple well kept property is made exceptional by its location and its staff. Casa Cecilia is at the north end of Santa Teresa on the best end of the beach. Macarena and Natalia take every opportunity to ensure your stay is the best it can be--from the made to order breakfast, advice on local eats and treks, help on travel logistics the service is exceptional. The hotel has lovely grounds and is neat as a pin--I can't wait to return!
This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed in the pictures don’t do it justice. Check in was easy everything is done on codes so no keys which is nice. It’s right on the beach with hammocks and loungers. Beach towels supplied as well. Nice continental breakfast. Only wish we could’ve stayed longer!
Coming back to Casa Cecelia is like coming home...To the beach. The hotel is more than just a hotel and a location (though both are great), it is a feeling. Someone described it as a “boarding house in all the best ways” and I couldn’t have said it better. We have made lifelong friends over homemade (to order!) breakfasts overlooking the ocean and bonfires on the sand. Don is like the cool and welcoming cousin/uncle that holds down the fort while we all do silly things like live and work in cold places. He remembers how you like your eggs (and that I hate Papaya), your favorite restaurants and even visiting a year apart he makes it feel like you didn’t miss a thing. We truly enjoyed spending more time with Rodrigo on this visit. He is fun to hang with, a great surfer and just a cool dude. He also knows where to get great wine! We have already booked for next year and are counting down the dias. Please don’t change a thing. …
Casa Cecilia is perfectly situated just a mile north of town, away from the busy dusty streets. Our family of four experienced a week of comfortable accommodations and quality service. The atmosphere is tranquil. The sunrises and sunsets are amazing. Free breakfast was perfect. If you are looking for a great place to call home for a week, this would be just right. If you want a place to rage and party, this would not be for you. For the most part, it's lights out at 10pm. Like I mentioned, it was perfect for our family. The amenities are many and the issues were nonexistent. We will return.
We have been returning to this lovely little gem for at least 7 years, need I say more?! BUT, I will! It is a wonderful small hotel catering for those who like to be more off the beaten track. If you surf you will love it. Breakfast is served 50 metres from the waters edge so you can check out the waves while you eat. There is always something to catch and more often than not it is awesome! Don is the manager who has a passion for surfing and will share local knowledge and surf with you when work allows! He makes a mean omelette too! Santa Teresa has lots of eating places with endless choices of cuisine or you can cook your own back at the hotel. It definitely earns my 5 star rating!
