Over this weekend had the opportunity to stay at The Ark Wellness Retreat, Nandgaon (off Paud-Kolwan road). We were joined by 4 other families to this place. The Ark is a delight for book lovers and spa/wellness lovers alike. It is not too far from Pune. We wanted to go for Deluxe rooms but they were booked out so we ended with 2 standard rooms and 3 garden facing rooms. The standard rooms are in the main building of the resort which also houses the small swimming pool at the lower level. The garden rooms were in a separate section about 20 feet from the main building. The 'garden view' rooms were nothing to rave about. They had a small private open air sit-out which we couldn't use since it was raining. The only advantage was that the garden facing rooms were larger than standard rooms and hence it there were one or two kids with a family, it would provide for more space. The standard rooms offered a better view of the mountains since they were at the upper level but they are better suited for couples or couples with a single child. The rooms are named after famous authors from the world over and there was a generous sprinkling of phrases from these authors all over the property. Plenty of reading options from the inhouse library in addition to a variety of board games and indoor games. They also had a TT table and carrom board. All of these facilities came with the stay package. Only the painting board had to be paid for separately which was about 300 bucks per board including taxes. The lunch provided for at least 2 veg mains and 1 non-veg mains options along with dessert. Dinner had a variety of veg and non-veg starters along with the main course. Evening tea/coffee came along with French fries and cheese sandwiches. Food quality for all these meals was excellent and added to the likability of this place. The swimming pool is not too big but good enough for kids to have a splash in the water. Their deck near the cafeteria looks out to a flowing stream which provided a refreshing view of the mountains and the fields nearby. Lot of trees, shrubs and flowering plants in the property which made a good backdrop for a stroll in the greenery. They also had bicycles for guests but most of the bicycles were under inflated so we couldn't use them as much but we were just happy to walk-around. The property and the rooms were clean and well maintained. The staff was quick to cater to random requirements from us. The only two grouses we had with the place was that the breakfast options were disappointing and there was no room service. Breakfast had idli, chutney, sambar, upma, omlettes made to order and some cut fruits. The idli and upma were average and atleast one other breakfast option would have been great. The "no room service" option was OK with us but some of the other families were not as appreciative about it since kids sometimes have random cravings and having the ability to order something on the fly is always helpful. All in all, we were pleased with the stay here since we had some great company and quality time spent away from home. We certainly plan to visit again in the winter since they set up the bbq out in the lawns at that time. A special word of mention for Rohit from The Ark team who was ever so responsive to all our needs and was very nice to talk too as well. The Manager Pushkar was also open minded to our requests and was very cordial.

While the Pandemic fatigue is taking a toll on all of us, we sneaked in a short trip during the downward turn of virus curve. Booking was a seamless. Approach road is rocky ride in the wilderness. Check in was simple and we were allotted the spartan/no frills room in a jiffy. Well demarked spacious parking lot. We had opted from Garden View room but it was no where close to the picture as no seating arrangement overlooking the herb garden. Interesting concept of naming each room after a writer with couple of lines written on the door room. Ample numbers of books to whet your reading appetite. Food and beverages are doing a good job. They make an earnest effort in providing personalized and efficient service with whatever is available at their disposal. Bengali chef is a big bonus. Good place to chill around in open spaces and be one with nature with not a whiff of polluting air. Though its names suggest it a wellness resort but nothing ‘wellness’ related is really followed so much so that dinner is laid up post 8 P.M. which is indeed sacrilege from healthy lifestyle point of view. White breads, fried snacks, nothing organic are severed. So pl. set your expectations. We were to check out on Tuesday and the place was close to empty by Monday and property was in a spree of shutting off the services thus we were left erratic supply of AC and no water in the washroom. The front office was far from helpful and pulling up unbelievable excuses which left a sour taste. A budget resort offering mediocre services.

Thanks for your feedback. Severe power surge in the area during the last day of your stay had crippling effect on power systems and water pumps which lead to some equipment damage and cascading effect shut down supply as reported had to be replaced and rectified. We had our Generator operational to support existing operational services while team repaired and got systems working before checkout. Gardens rooms are located near herbal garden and guests can always walkin to check out various plants. We've noted all your precious pointers and concerned departments notified towards adequate service resolutions and improvements desired.

Ark is located amidst lots of greenery within its campus itself . It is tastefully decorated and I loved the book theme - library, reading nooks, authored rooms etc . Food was simple but tasty. Good play area for children. Overall a nice getaway from busy urban life. The manager is very friendly and helpful.

We wanted to spend someday away from the daily hustle, found this place on trip advisor and we tried it. A place where you can relax, there is a great thought when this place is done for sure. Good collection of books, morning dues in the garden, sunrise, botanical garden, spa, star glazing, quiet places to sit and read books. Define your vacation, then you will love this place. It's definitely not a place to PARTY but it's a place to rejuvenate. Special thanks to Pushkar and team for their hospitality, will surely revisit😁
