Well I was supposed to go see whales in Samana, so I drove the winding road from Hato Mayor to Sabana Del Mar, a risky proposition if you are not used to dirt roads, twisty turns, and cliffs, but beautiful nature scenes. We missed the boat to Samana so we decided to drive to this paradise getaway that the locals...

We went to this place for lunch and to spend a few hours, what a place, I can't say enough of how beautiful the grounds are, the water falls, just breath taken. We had a great lunch here and the food was great, the service was also good,

This is the nicest place to meet nature up close. It offers boat trips to the Haitises, you get to meet two caves that were used by the indians first inhabitants of the island. It has lovelies natural pools. You can also do Zip Line. There's a great fried fish called Minuta, try it. I haven't stayed for the night....

This place was great... until we tried to deal with the management people AT ALL. First, they charged us a bunch extra when they discovered that we had four people for 1 room with two double beds, rather than the two people we had booked for. Same room, same beds, much more expensive. Fine. No meals are included until you...

We choose accomodation in Altos Cano Hondo, upper part of this resort. The rooms are very nice, with beuatiful view into the surroundings. You can swim in the river, which builds cascade of pools. The restaurant is great, food excellent. The hotel is located only approx 800 m from small port, where you can rent a boat and do the...

There are two parts to this hotel, which operate somewhat independently. We chose the newer, upper part, which was a good choice as we had a room with a beautiful view. It also meant that we could escape from the day trippers, who are an unfortunate feature of this place. The location of the hotel is charming, surrounded by countryside...

There is a river going through th hotel, in cascades running to the central pool. The restaurant is quite big with nice views of the cascdes an pools. Our room was a bit higher up, but dark and without much of a view. There was a working bath with hot water in the shower but not at the sink. The...

My husband and I wanted a quiet retreat for a couple of days and we were not disappointed. I read books and found places to sketch around the property while my husband went to the Parque Los Haitises and kayaked in the bay. The room was lovely with a lovely view of the bay and the park. The decor is...

For those that wrote a negative review, I have to wonder if they actually read the website? It does a great job describing the property, location, and amenities. If you were expecting it to be different than advertised, that is a problem with your expectations, not the property itself and you shouldn't have given bad marks for that! I'm not...
