We stayed in a basic room, shared bathroom and kitchen space plus living area, it's a really friendly place, all the staff are lovely, the breakfast was great, good showers and personal service. Every morning John comes out to tell you about the conditions for the crossing and they take anyone who wants to do it out in their shuttle...

While staying at Aventure Lodge, my partner who is coeliac required a gluten free meal breakfast. This was no trouble for them. They provided helpful advice on activities. But there is more. When I lost the hire car's keys everyone went to great lengths to find them. In the end, so as not to ruin our day, Gill lent me...

My husband and I stayed here for two nights to do the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. We booked the hotels Freedom package which includes accommodation, two breakfasts, a supper, a packed lunch for the crossing, drop off and pick up for the hike, t-shirts and certificates when you finish. Such an amazing deal! This was easily one of the best places...

well run lodge by nice couple and support staff. Even though we were unlucky with a rainy day when we wanted to do the crossing we were chauffered to other spots for local walks. Solid meals for walkers. Rooms basic but clean and serve the purpose.

Four of us stayed here for two nights either side of doing the Tongariro crossing. The rooms were very good - very clean with comfy beds and great showers. We went for the deal which included two breakfasts (one cooked and one continental) as well as an evening meal after we'd completed the walk. John and Gillian and their staff...

My husband and I stayed at the Adventure Lodge while doing the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. We got the 'freedom package' which was definitely worth the money! John and Gillian were fantastic hosts. We started the day with a lovey cooked breakfast before setting off to the crossing starting point with John in his van. We were provided with a packed...

We enjoyed our stay here - the room was comfortable enough, and we had a microwave and small table to eat at. The owners were friendly and willing to offer advice about walks etc. However, I'm not sure I would recommend booking the "tongariro freedom package" which we booked - on reflection it didn't seem that great value for money...

Hi there and thanks for your review - the package is truly worth it and if you did everything separately - i.e your own breakfast, dinner, lunch, arrange own shuttle cost, t-shirt, certificate we have worked out it costs approx $50 more - depending of course where you ate for dinner and what you ate. We provide for dinner a...

My friend and I stayed in the lodge for two nights while we did the Tongariro crossing. There was a lovely atmosphere and we were made more than welcome by Gillian, John and the staff. Thanks so much for your review and we are pleased you thought our service was special and personalised as this is what we are aiming for, however we do know we cant please all the people all the time and everyone has different expectations.

We choose this accommodation because of it's location to hike the Tongariro crossing. Check-in was a breeze and after settling in a tray was brought with breakfast for the following day as we were to leave before breakfast would be served. We drove our own car the Ketetahi carpark where a shuttlebus brought us to the start of the crossing....

Hi there and thanks so much for your great review - it is possible to drive your vehicle to the start but it does create huge parking problems and road access jam ups with buses trying to get past people who have parked in a rush and left their vehicles jutted out on roadways.

Comfortable, clean accommodation. Jill did a great job on our evening meal which was included as part of our package - it was delicious and a welcome treat after doing the Tongariro Crossing. John kept us entertained on the bus transfer to Tongariro and it's perfectly located to explore the area. We did a kayak trip to Whanganui from there...
