My husband and I stayed only one night at the Abseil Breakfast Inn... we wish it could have been longer! This is one of our favourite accommodation in New Zealand so far! Our room was beautiful, clean, homely and had a wonderful view. The communal area is comfortable and relaxing and encourages guests to mingle (only if they want). The...

We stayed for just one night in order to visit the caves. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent including many varieties of honey to taste. The hostess was most entertaining and helpful. The local cafe (suggested by our host) gave us one of the best meals we had during our trip round North Island NZ

The place was small & cramped. The bathroom was equally as small & very basic. If you are looking for a no frills place to lay your head it is fine. The area is very rural so maybe it is all that Waitanomo has to offer in lodging but we weren't impressed. The soap & shampoo are over the counter,...

Thank you for you nice comments. I must admit I am easily distracted, as I do enjoy meeting new guests. Occassionally, when guests check in early and the weather has been wet, the room may not be finished at the time of arrival. If, due to distraction, towels are then not subsequently supplied a quick query to either me or...

I called and spoke with John to request a room. Fodor's recommended this B and B so I was excited about the stay. Somehow there was confusion about our family party of 4. John assumed we were 4 adults, even after I asked for a room to sleep us together as a family. He said we needed 2 rooms. I...

Unfortunately the phone call to reserve the room kept on cutting out so that it was not clear that the booking was for a family of young children and not two couples. When they arrived after 8.30 pm and this became known, we immediately arranged for them to stay at the Waitomo Caves B&B Lodge which does have family accommodation....

A lovely stay. The Abseil Inn is very conveniently located for the getting to the local attractions. Helen and John were very welcoming, even with our late arrival. You can watch the sun set from the porch outside the room then walk down the road to the Huhu Restaurant for a delicious dinner. Breakfast was generous, tasty and ran like...

The perfect stay, the rooms were all lovely with incredible views over the Waitomo countryside. Fabulous breakfast with tons of choice and homemade jams, curds and pastries. The lounge has a bookcase full of Kiwi books and films and the iPod has kiwi artists on it. All the crockery is made by a local pottery place which we visited and...

Helen and John run an amazing bed and breakfast in Waitomo. They have a beautiful property atop a hill with wonderful views from the rooms and wrap-around porch. The wooden floors are clean and the beds comfortable. Breakfast is a true pleasure and you can choose options for your hot breakfast. John's "Waitomo Eggs" are a version of Eggs Benedict,...
