This is a gorgeous hotel nestled in the hills of Waitomo. Best beds in New Zealand super comfy, booked one night but could have stayed for ever. The food was to die for (Get the Crayfish). While it is a little run down this only gave my wife the opportunity to plan all the renovations for when we buy the...

The staff were helpful right from the phone booking through to the final payment. Offering accommodations and adjustments in price to cater for our family needs. This property has seen better times. Is tired and in need of maintenance, but oh what it could be with a benefactor to restore it. The photos are inaccurate, so we were a bit...

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at the hotel. We always find the different and wide ranging guest perspectives valuable. The many compliments are accepted with thanks and the issues are taken into account in our facilities and service improvement efforts. We are going through a refurbishment programme that will take a while to be...

We were a little surprised to learn of the waitomo caves hotels reputation for being one of the most haunted places in nz! The hotel is beautifully decorated, the room was wonderfully spacious for the three of us. We also really enjoyed the free use of the spa!

We had the King deluxe made into twin beds. It was lovely, we had a big balcony to ourselves the room itself is old and worn, yes there was some smell of damp and the wallpaper was peeling in some places, but the beds were EXCELLENT, so soft and cloudlike. The TV didnt work and the internet was slow, but...

I had the fortune to stay in the Waitomo hotel. I have seen very bad reviews. I loved it. It has character and history. Yes it is cold but our heater warmed us. Yes the wall paper is peeling but it added to the old style ambience. The paintings of beautiful Maori above the beautiful stair well are amazing. The...

But a few wrinkles showing. The staff were great but a bit overworked - dashing around the whole time but still being friendly and giving helpful advice. (If the boss reads this he should give them a pay rise!) The public areas are very well preserved and give the place a unique historic atmosphere - the grandchildren loved it. The...

Thank you for sharing your experience of a stay at our charming hotel. We are pleased to hear that the staff were efficient and friendly! We love the comparison to Hogwarts too. We are currently working on upgrading all of the rooms. We agree the dining room is beautiful. Great you enjoyed your breakfast. Do come back and visit us...

This place in its heyday must have been amazing. Its proximity to the caves make it handy but must admit in hindsight with more planning I probably wouldn't have stayed in waitomo township as you can get there, see the sights and then keep going. This place was nice to experience old world charm if just for a night. It's...

Thanks for sharing your view with us. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the experience at our hotel. Certainly not modern interiors at our place but that is all part of the plan! We hope that we can convince you to stay longer next time to really relax and soak in the atmosphere.

This hotel will take you back in time! The locals say this place is haunted and it's easy to see why. With old school decor and creaking floors, this place is amazingly creepy and beautiful. No need to sacrifice amenities though. Every room has tv, blow driers, mini fridge and wi-fi. We absolutely loved the amazing ambiance this place had....

Our hotel is certainly about experiencing travel from a bygone area but less of the creepy description! The wonderful character that it exudes is certainly beautiful. We are delighted to hear that you appreciate the effort we have gone to make guests comfortable with typical hotel facilities. Thanks for the splendid review.

When I called the hotel I said we'll be there early and if possible would like to check in 2 hours before checkin time and the one on the phone said it's all good for us to check in early. Then when we arrived the crew in the reception area told us its not possible. So we just strolled outside...

Thanks for taking the time to post your review on your recent stay. Whilst we do our best to accommodate requests for early check-ins, we are restricted by turn around times - ie, we have to wait until the previous guest has checked out first. I note that you booked our smallest, cheapest room category - priced one of the...

We stopped here the night before we did a tour of the caves and yes some of the areas maybe look a little old but if they did update it it would probably lose some of the character. Rooms were clean and beds were comfy. We had a twin room rather than a double (can't remember what we booked to...
