Detailed Reviews
Arriving in Porthmadog on the last leg of our walk on the Wales Coast Path we decided to make Llwyn Derw our 'home' for a few days as we explored the Snowdonia region. We could not have chosen better. This lovely home is only a short walk from the Wales Coast Path from either PortMadog or Borth Y Gest. The owner is himself an avid walker/cyclist/mountaineer and gave us lots of ideas, advice and maps for planning our excursions including setting us up to join a hike with the local mountaineering club, a high point of our visit. The house is lovely especially if you are a fan of William Morrris. The garden which you are welcome to explore is a significant permaculture landscape with vegetables, fruit and berries along with beautiful flowers and shrubs. The rooms are comfortable and beautifully decorated. Breakfast was prepared with high quality ingredients and well prepared. Most significant of all was the Welsh hospitality, our hosts could not have been more kind and helpful a perfect end to the end of our walk in this wonderful country.

B&B in country house 1 km from town center, at walking distance (sidewalks but uphill). Friendly and helpful host, providing information and (walking) maps. Spacious room. Best breakfast we had on our UK tour. Nice garden, we were lucky with a sunny day to enjoy it for some hours.

My husband and I have stayed here 5 times, first visiting in 2004 and we absolutely love staying here. The house itself is beautiful and full of character. The rooms are spacious and have everything you need to make yourself at home during your stay. The breakfast is lovely and the most of all the hosts are brilliant. The B&B its self is a short walk out of the centre of Porthmadog and not far away from Black Rock Sands either.

We booked to stay here for 2 nights but left after the first night. Although the house is big and in a nice area, the room and breakfast was very disappointing. We had a double room which was spacious but the bathroom was tiny. The shower was grimey and when taking a shower the water would not drain away. This resulted in standing in dirty water ankle deep. The room was very cold and we had to wear clothes to bed. There were many cobwebs around the room, the tv did not work and we could not connect to the WiFi. Breakfast was very disappointing- undercooked eggs and toast was simply warm bread.

Wonderful little B&B, and a nice place to try practising a few Welsh words and phrases! Very handy if you want to do car trips around the area - Caernarfon / Conwy / Dolgellau / Snowdon / Beddgelert / Harlech / Llwyn peninsula... Run by a very friendly couple!

We stayed at this b&b for 2 nights. The owner is very kind and friendly and makes you feel very welcomed. Our room was large with lovely views. Bright and clean with a big shower en suite. We had a four poster bed and a single bed, which were very comfy. The cooked breakfast was great. There was a kettle in the room with tea coffee etc which is always good to have. Very enjoyable stay and would recommend to anybody.
