Detailed Reviews
I visited The Tudor Lodge for two nights, whilst my partner took her mum to Portmerion - and I truly believe that I've unearthed a little gem.
Sometimes you hear the saying, you get what you pay for. However on this occasion, this couldn't be more wrong!
The Tudor Lodge was homely, welcoming, hospitable (map provided for local eateries, requests met no problem) and the room was extremely clean.
As my partner was up the road with her mum, I just went for a single room, priced at ÂŁ44 a night with breakfast. Even cheaper the Booking.com! The room, although not massive, didn't need to be. The room accomadating bed, flat screen TV, desk with chair, bed side table, wardrobe and en-suite bathroom with shower was delightful. The shower was divine and a dream, I only wish we had one at home like this. The room also accomadated a radiator and the bathroom had quality toilet paper, a heat rail for towels and fresh towels daily to add.
Breakfast was nice, offering full fry up, cereal, juices and fruit etc. There is the option to slightly twig the breakfast too, say for example scrambled egg on toast etc instead of a fry-up.
I can honestly say, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, will put it on my list for places to stay in the future should we be down again (I'm sure we will be and the prices still be great) and I'd definitely recommend it.
Pros:
Shower
Lovely comfy quality carpeted room
Low Price
Cosy
Central
Negatives:
Non
The room was very clean, I think I spotted one thing under a table. Sides, shower, floors, tables were spotlessly clean, which is a must for me.
I can't recommend this lovely accomadation highly enough.

We stayed at the Tudor Lodge towards the end of a five night trip around North Wales. So we had stayed at a few places before this one, and therefore something to compere with.
Out of all of the places we stayed this one had the most nice touches. The family who own it obviously take pride in what they do, and do everything to make sure that your stay is a pleasant and memorable experience.
The rooms are nice and modern, the breakfast was very good, but the things I noticed most were the little things. For example there was a huge modern fan tucked away inside the wardrobe. When we visited it was August, storms were brewing overnight and it was humid. There were little Tudor Lodge Chocolates laid out, the soaps and creams in the bathroom felt upmarket. All of these little touches make a difference. Only one other place that we stayed at that week had made any sort of effort like this.
Also if you are thinking of visiting Portmerion village, just down the road this would an ideal place to stay. We had an early cooked breakfast(delicious) outside in the courtyard and were the first ones at Portmerion, we had the place to ourselves for the first 15 minutes, which made for some very special pictures.

We were going to a Wedding in Portmeirion and we wanted to stay nearby. We intended to explore the area after the Wedding Day so booked a Deluxe room in The Tudor Lodge for four nights. Our welcome was warm and lots of information offered by the friendly person on duty. The room was spacious with plenty of lighting and a comfortable sofa and chair. The temperature in the room was perfect and there was always plenty of hot water. Everything was immaculately clean. The bed was kingsize which we are used to at home..
We were given a front door key with the bedroom key so we could come and go as we pleased.
We were asked to fill in our breakfast time and food choices andhand it in to reception before 8.30pm so when we went down in the morning the service was very quick. The coffee is delicious and the food cooked perfectly.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay there again when in the area

Just returned from a lovely stay at Tudor Lodge in Porthmadog.
Location
The hotel is a fantastic location in Porthmadog, close to the high street, harbour, shops and restaurants. It is also in a prime location for exploring Mid Wales, including the beautiful coast and Snowdonia. The property has a mid sized car park with electric car charging points.
Hospitality
Clair, Steve and their family made us feel very welcome and were attentive to our every need. Anything we needed we just whatsapped them and they brought it to our room. They had a large drinks menu which can be delivered to the room or had in their lovely outside courtyard space. We really enjoyed chatting to Clair and Steve and they gave some great local advice!
Rooms
The room was beautifully decorated and had very comfy beds. The shower and bathroom was lovely and spacious. The room and bathroom was spotlessly clean! The rooms have kettles, tea and coffee, bottled water and toiletries.
Breakfast
Due to Covid you need to pre choose your breakfast items on the order form and give it into reception before 8:30pm the night before. The breakfast selection was wide with a good range of cooked and continental options. The breakfast was really tasty and cooked with high quality ingredients. We sat and ate our breakfast outside on some days which was beautiful!
Overall a stunning property in a great location with fantastic owners! Would definitely recommend for anyone wanting a relaxing stay in Porthmadog.

 · My wife and I do not normally holiday in guest Houses, however, it would be difficult to not call The Tudor Lodge anything other that a very smart small Hotel. From the welcome when we arrived to the farewell when we left there is nothing but praise for the professionalism and courtesy shown to my wife and I.
They have coped extremely well with the Covid 19 situation and we were never concerened at any time that we were compromised. It is evident that it is family run as the atmosphere at all times is relaxed and an energy flowes through the whole place.
The food is everything we could want for, both in selection and in quality, plus of course quantity. I requested an item not on the menu and there was not a moment's hesitation is saying yes it would be possible. The cleanliness of the comunal areas was first class, and you can not fault the rooms. All the topletries you would need were in the room and my wife was particularly pleased with the quality of the hairdryer(so much so I have been given my instructions for Christmas)
I would certainly recommend The Tudor Lodge to anyone wishing to have a holiday in North Wales and wanting a central location. I will certainly return.

There was nothing we did not like, apart from having to leave.

This was our second visit to the area and stayed at Tudor Lodge again and was not disappointed 🙂 A very warm welcome from the staff make you feel at home and nothing ever seems to much trouble. Very clean throughout, in fact spotless. The room was fantastic and the whole place feels homely with lots of photos taken locally hanging from the walls. My wife had the continental buffet while I had a cooked breakfast which was cooked to perfection using top quality sausage and bacon, with a choice of eggs and accompanied with mushrooms, vine tomato, baked beans and a hash brown. What’s not to love ? For us it was a last minute getaway to recharge the battery’s, chill out and take in the beautiful surroundings and it certainly did that. Would whole heartedly recommend and can’t wait to return again.

We stayed in the Tudor Lodge hotel in Porthmadog for a six-night stay whilst exploring Snowdonia. We had booked the hotel through an online booking website and were impressed by the reviews on this site. The hotel’s location suited our plans for taking the train to Carnarvon (ten-minute walk to the Harbour station), and also visiting some other attractions in Snowdonia by car.
We drove to North Wales and the Tudor Lodge has a very good amount of car parking for guests. Arriving late afternoon on a Saturday, we were met by our hosts and given a full briefing before being shown to our room, we found our hosts to be friendly, helpful and approachable. The room was well equipped with double bed, bedside units, wardrobe, dressing table and a good number of electrical sockets. A flat screen TV gave access top Freeview channels. The hotel offers free wifi and we found this to be of sufficient speed to do browsing of websites and also uploading photos taken during the day. Tea and coffee making facilities were provided and milk was available from a small fridge in the wardrobe. A hairdryer was also available in the dressing table drawer.
The ensuite bathroom was equipped with toilet, sink and shower cubicle and was a reasonable size with room to move about. The bathroom had a heated towel rail but this did not appear to be able to be switched on and off by the guests. The bathroom was provided with towels and flannels and also some liquid soap toiletries. Both the bedroom and the bathroom were spotlessly clean and we slept well here during our stay, though there was some noise from the room above.
Breakfast was served in the downstairs breakfast room and had a very good choice including cereal, porridge, fruit, cold meats, cheeses and a full English breakfast. We tend to have a large breakfast in the morning to see us through the day and the breakfast here was amazing, certainly one of the best we have experienced in our travels.
All in all, a most enjoyable stay in a beautiful part of Wales, we thought it was hard to fault any aspect of our accommodation. We would certainly visit here again if we were to stay in Snowdonia and would (and in fact have), unreservedly recommend it to others.

Our first night away since lockdown commenced in March 2020 for our 17th wedding anniversary. Sadly could only stay here one night as they were fully booked on the previous evening - and I’m not surprised !! This is a really nice, comfortable family run hotel in the centre of Porthmadog. Easy walking round the town - we walked to Portmeirion about 3 miles but it was easy to do. The owners were so accommodating and pleasant from the first phone call. I far prefer, when possible, to book direct with family run hotels, that way there are no big corporates getting a nibble of their precious profits in these days where every £ counts. They even put a card and chocolates in our room. Great shower, comfy bed, nice towels. The food was freshly prepared and served with a smile. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel. Good luck for the future.

We stayed here on a walking holiday, and it was ideal for transport to Snowdon, and surrounding areas. The accommodation was above and beyond. Delicious, varied breakfast. What we liked about it was the attention to detail: - i.e.. Guest & Room fridge, fresh milk, powerful shower with easily adjustable heat control, and maximum volume of 15 for the television, so as not to disturb others.
