Plenty of parking with easy access to the hotel, this wonderfully convenient hotel was clean, warm and welcoming. Check in was a breeze, the delightfully old building didn't belie it's age in any way with the room managing to be both spacious and cosy, with a very large, clean bathroom including a good range of toiletries. Breakfast was served efficiently...

We checked in on a damp, rainswept Sunday evening in November with our dog, after tramping Hadrian's Wall! We got a really warm reception and equally warm accommodation, attached to the main hotel, consisting of a small downstairs sitting room, with underfloor heating and shower etc with a cosy twin bedroom on a mezzanine floor. We choose to book a...

Stayed one night on business. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the station. I was given one of the rooms at the back of the hotel next to the car park. It was on a split level and reminded me of a mini cottage. Small lounge area and bathroom downstairs with twin beds upstairs. Minor and I mean...

A truly friendly and most welcoming hotel, perfectly located for visits to the Roman experience, Fort's museums and walking the Hadrian's wall. The staff are brilliant the room we stayed in was lovely and the bed so comfortable. The food was excellent and very plentiful but save room for the fabulous breakfast.

This hotel was recommended to us by a friend and it was every bit as good and more. We only stayed one night as we were taking part in the great north run. We had a lovely suite for 3 adults. Very comfortable, clean and well furnished. We had an evening meal in the restaurant and the food was amazing,...

Although the guest house was friendly and welcoming and the breakfast was good, I found the room to be small and squashed. The staff were very helpful with storing our bikes for the night and had saved a table in case we wanted to eat there.

Haltwhistle is a quaint town and the Centre of Britain Hotel is the Jewel in the crown. I stayed one night and was located in a suite of rooms with a sitting room, huge bedroom and bathroom, with bath! I ate an evening meal and breakfast there and both were freshly prepared, tasty and served in huge portions. Christine is...

Beautiful historic hotel. All the staff are great, but Christine (the manager) is outstanding and a credit to the hotel industry. Whole place is Immaculately clean. Great menu choices and all the food we had was delicious, with generous portions for big appetites. Will be back again.

Stayed one night whilst walking the wall, room 2 at front of hotel with a spa bath. The room was huge, clean with a very comfy bed. The staff were friendly and helpful and a credit to themselves. Would I stay again, definitely and for longer. We ate across the road at the Black Bull, it was fantastic great food...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This is Haltwhistle’s most historic building. The oldest part of the hotel was a Border Reivers' Pele Tower, dating from the 15th Century. Later it became a Manor House, Excise Office, Coaching Inn, Post Office, Temperance Hotel, Pub and Cafe. In 1997 we completely refurbished the building, finding many archaeological and architectural features - many of which have been included in the presentation of the reborn Hotel. The result – a combination of modern comfort & Tradition. We have a total of 12 bedrooms, all individually designed many with original architectural features. All have private bathrooms and are equipped with TV, radio, direct dial telephones, hospitality trays and hair dryers. We have a secure car park at the rear of the hotel with direct access to the rearSo, there is something for everyone, but most of all a warm welcome with a relaxed style and atmosphere to make you feel at home. ... more   less
