The accommodation is fine. Clean, reasonably spacious etc. Breakfast was quite nice with some local dishes put on in addition to the standard bread, cheese and ham. Issues for me were the initial check-in.....reception was closed at 5pm, and phone calls not answered when made to try and get entry. Not much of an apology either when we got in eventually, although that might have been lost in translation. The town feels fairly run down, and dinner options on your doorstep are fairly limited.....we ended up having tapas in a small bar around 100m down the road. There is one restaurant around 50m from the hotel, but seemed quite formal. I was hoping for a Cava country experience, and didn't get it. Maybe i didn't try hard enough. More

We stayed at Hostal del Priorat on our way back home to the UK following a six week road trip through France and Spain. Even though we read as many reviews as possible there is always the chance the end result is disappointing. Not the case at the Hostal. It is situated in a quiet village with a lovely courtyard garden next to a great local tapas bar and a restaurant. Off the beaten track but we had no difficulty in finding using Sat Nav. In hindsight we wished we had booked additional nights as enjoyed it so much. The rooms are airy, very clean and bright. The bathrooms are spacious with up-to- the minute fittings. There are six bedrooms but due to the time of year we were the only people staying which to us was an additional bonus. The breakfast was good with excellent service. Highly recommended. More
