We stopped by the Convent to see what I think is the largest private collection of tiles in Portugal. They are magnificent. The convent was bought by a family in the mid 1800s after the religious orders were expelled from Portugal. For more than 100 years, it served as a vacation home for the family. Now, fortunately for the public,...

This is a "must-do" in case you are passing by Redondo. Ask for a short tour/ explanation and a visit to the church and rooms. If you can't afford accommodation just go for a meal or some afternoon coffee. Bring comfortable shoes to have a walk around the hilly "Serra d'Ossa".

It felt like a privilege staying in a hotel that's more like a museum, in the best possible way. We spent three nights here for a friend's wedding and the staff were friendly and professional. It felt like a family-run outfit. The hotel was peaceful and in a great location, albeit quite a drive from Lisbon. Room and communal areas...

We stayed here for 5 days at end of August and the first few days of September 2016 for our daughter's wedding.. It is a magical place with incredibly welcoming staff who found nothing too much trouble. The word 'convento' in Portuguese is misleading as it means 'monastery' for monks or 'convent' for women, in this case it was a...

You will find that the hotel, itself, is not a top hotel. However, what we have here is much more than an hotel. You will have the experience of discovering an hidden treasure in the middle of Alentejo. The building (a very ancient convent) is stunning with fabulous tiles and the tranquility and beauty of the hotel will guide you...

Actually, we stayed 2 nights at this Poussada/Museum and we loved every minute of it. The rooms are made of the original monk cells and are quirky, beautiful and comfortable with 'oldfashioned' marble bathrooms. Everywhere you look and go, inside and outside, is spectacular. The reception provides you with every information you need to explore it all. But you can...

We have just stayed three nights here. It was a high point of our two-week tour of Alentejo. The surroundings are beautiful and peaceful, and the convent itself is breathtaking. It's not really fair to compare it to the pousadas, it is a privately owned hotel with a distinct personality. It's not as polished as the pousadas, but that doesn't...

On a rugby trip with a team of veterans this was our base. One of the most spectacular places I've stayed, on top of a hill surrounded by forest, this restored convent is a real 'get away from it all' place. Well worth exploring the nooks and crannys as there are terrazas and swimming pools, lounges and sitting rooms all...

Such a lovely find! On a stormy day in Portugal, we were greeted with warm smiles and a warm room! All details lovingly attended to at this mountain retreat! We love the rustic restoration process! All around are cork oak, olives, oranges and lemons (we even picked a few with permission of course) 🌹. The staff were all warm, kind...
