We stayed a night and booked a cooking course with Maurizio and his sister. The rooms were modern and very clean and great value. The house has fantastic view overlooking the town Modica. Our host couldn't have been more helpful, sorting out problems with bike delivery and guiding our transfer to his house. Highly recommend the cooking course as Maurizio...

We had a lovely stay at Maurizio's hiltop villa located just above Modica city center with gorgeous views. Maurizio is very hospitable and genuinly helpful. Everything is neat and clean. Breakfast is home made and very good. Our only regret is not having time to try his cooking class.

Maurizio is a star, and that is the story of this place. The facility itself is fine. Our room was very clean and everything worked. The terrace has a wide open view to Modica below. Maurizio's family join in making you feel welcomed into an Italian life. But Maurizio adds a great deal to the experience of staying here. He...

We spent a very pleasant week at Modicarte. The B&B is located just outside Modica on a hill with a beautiful view of the city, and it is only a few minutes' driving into town. The room for 3 was spacious and very clean. The owner Maurizio and his family were very warm hosts. Maurizio prepares everything for the breakfast...

Had a really good stay here. Maurizio was a great host and had lots of good advice for us. The B&B was in a really great location overlooking the town but only a quick drive to the city centre. Did a cooking class that was great fun. Maurizio even took us to the local ricotta maker - another great experience....

My boyfriend surprised me with a sicilian cooking class for my birthday during our stay in Modica and for someone that loves to cook (and eat!!!) it was an amazing gift. We arrived at the property which was surrounded by the gorgeous sicilian countryside and gardens full of produce that Maurizio and his family were growing. The kitchen was very...

We were at Modicarte with Tricia H, so all I have to do is endorse her complimentary review. Maurizio was friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were delicious with home made bread and cakes, and the room was warm and comfortable - pity about the weather, but we ate well, thanks to Maurizio's birthday dinner and his recommended restaurants in Modica.

We received a warm welcome from Maurizio when we found the B&B, having bumped into one of his friends who kindly drove ahead of us to show us the way. The rooms were very good and so were the breakfasts. Maurizio made dinner for us one evening so we could celebrate my partner's birthday and he made a birthday cake...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
LOCATION Modicarte's new holiday and cultural centre is furnished in a simple, modern style, and is situated on a hillside, 20 km from the sea, with a panoramic view over the city of Modica and the Hyblean mountains. The design of the complex exploits the natural contours of the 4000m2 of surrounding land, with the buildings arranged on a series of terraces cut into the hillside and enclosed by dry-stone walls, typical features of the Modica countryside, and complemented by outdoor areas shaded by hackberry and carob trees. CULTURAL BACKGROUND The "Modicarte" project was inspired by the cultural traditions and heritage of Modica and the Noto Valley: a holiday centre where nature and leisure, activity and relaxation, companionship and solitude, art and gastronomy, complement each other naturally. Modicarte is situated at the centre of a vast territory in south-east Sicily, where you can also find the splendid Baroque architectural masterpieces of the Noto Valley, protected by UNESCO. Modica is just 3kms away from the Modicarte holiday centre and Ragusa Ibla, Scicli, Comiso, Noto, Siracusa and Catania are also easily accessible. Only 4kms away are the fascinating grottoes of Cava d'Ispica, which consist of trogloditic habitations, little sanctuaries and necropoli, dating back to around 2000 BC. ... more   less
