1 star - the so-called gym. I have never seen such shabby, old, and dangerously rusty equipment anywhere. Perhaps you would see this in a 1-star hotel. Of course, this hotel is for non-athletic families, where adults don’t care about their appearance, and kids won't go to the gym.

Advantages:
* 1 min walk to the beach, clean and comfortable, showers, beach chairs and umbrellas present
* clean swimming pool with warm water, good for times when tides are too strong in the sea
* clean spacious room with air conditioner, private balcony, we were lucky wifi worked good in our room too, heavenly flowers and trees
* amazing personnel, starting with receptionist, to the other hotel staff and the porter, the cook was sharp witted and always full of jokes, restaurant's manager was escorting guests in-person, the cleaning personnel were kindly-hearted and ready to help too
* the buffet was smorgasbord type, with practically unlimited food, full with different types of meals, fruits, yogurts, cakes, cookies and everything else
* coffee is served for breakfast, the personnel always offers a refill
* good evening dj, such a fun party was organized
* taxis and public transportation were comfortable to use

Disadvantages:
* drinking water problem: no water coolers in building
* water that costs 0.50 € at the store costs 3.00 € at this hotel's restaurant

*! extremely rude waitress with curly blonde hair: my grandma carries a small bottle of water with her due to her age. During dinner I got an empty water glass that she'd be comfortable drinking her water bottle's from it. This waitress came, insisted we buy a new bottle, hide ours and to the answer "no thank you we already have water", she aggressively took the glass away. With her temper I guess we should be glad she didn't splash the water on my face. Greek mythology's evil spirits embodiment lol, what even was that!!! Shocking experience, that is definitely NOT the way how you treat a customer.
* drinking water, juice and coffee served for breakfast only, no drop of liquid served for the dinner
* wifi works only in a very limited area
* 20 mins walk till Malia's centre on foot

Overall, I do recommend, a great place to be, we had a pleasant and never to be forgotten stay at Kernos Beach hotel!

Me and my friend have spent 8 days on Crete, in Kernos hotel during our vacation in September, 2020.
The hotel territory is massive and very beautiful, the food was very delicious and the beach very clean.
I have greatly appreciated the measures of precaution for Covid-19 taken by the staff and hotel owners. Hand sanitizing stations placed everywhere, staff was wearing masks on all occasions and everyone was respecting the social distance.
The room was clean and very spacious. The owner and staff very receptive to all requests.
Thank you Kernos team for a great experience and relaxing vacation!

We (2 couples) had a very enjoyable beach stay. Breakfast and dinner were included in our pricing and although we like to venture out to different places for dinner, we were quite pleased with the variety and freshness of the food so we were happy with the half board. The staff are lovely and kind and accommodating in every way possible The hotel is on a gorgeous sandy beach. You can walk into the sea which is clear and clean. Plenty of included sunbeds on the beach as well as around the olympic size pool. The grounds keepers and housekeeping staff keep the large property well groomed and neat as a pin. Fortunately, it was not too busy as yet, so we really enjoyed the space, the quiet and the atmosphere. It is a short 5-10 minute walk to Stelida to your right when leaving the hotel and about a 20 minute walk to Malia town turning right. There are a number of restaurants, bars, shops, etc. In close proximity. We traveled from Vancouver Canada-our first international trip in over two years and Kernos hotel was a great choice.

A key part of our 2022 Greek Odyssey was a much needed return visit to Kernos Beach in Crete. This review is entitled "Home Again" due a previous review in 2019 where we considered the resort a "Home Away from Home" and this visit reinforced our perspective. It was great to see after the challenges of 2020 and 2021 many staff members have remained and their dedication and service remains top notch. The hotel amenities are extensive and will suit most needs and the location is in close proximity to numerous sites in central and eastern Crete that could keep you busy for many weeks. Another highlight is the quality and extensive variety of food for breakfast and dinner that will suit most palates which is included with your room and many options for lunch at three locations. We would like to thank Aris and Maria for everything they do to make our time special including my peaceful early morning coffees as well as the staff at the Kafenion where we ended each day with some great traditional live music. We will be back again, just not soon enough:)

So here’s the story. I live abroad. My original flight to Portugal - my home country - got cancelled because of rising corona cases and I chose to go to Greece instead.

I wasn’t sure how I’d feel at the Kernos Beach Resort but people here made me feel at home. These are people who understand the importance of olive oil, the poetry of the breeze coming from the sea and hospitality. I missed that. It’s crazy how alike we are despite the language differences.

At the spa meet the highly professional and charming Despina and Irini. I can’t stop recommending them. I feel renewed with the face treatment and massage there.

The hotel room was clean, the balcony pleasant. I slept the sleep of kings for all the restless nights of 2021. I hope to come back next year!

Excellent place for family vacation, fantastc staff, delicious meals, everything was perfect. Me and my wife and our two kids arrived at the Kernos beach hotel during the peak of the high-season. The reservation staff provided us a fantastic doubled - room, sea view bungalow which was very comfort, clean and quiet. The dinner was included in the price and was suberb. The staff was very polite, friendly and the hotel's beach was always clean. We are looking forward to come back, soon. Efstathios

We spent a week at Kernos Beach on a half board basis in a bungalow. The bungalow was spacious with a lovely terrace with 2 chairs, table, parasol and 2 sun beds. This hotel is located on a clean sandy beach with a large pool and a beach bar. The negatives are the beach bar is too small and it was difficult to get a table and there are insufficient sun beds and parasols. You need to get your towels out by 8.00am to secure a spot. The meals were buffet style. The breakfast was very good with a great selection of hot and cold food. The dinner buffet had a great salad bar and desserts but the hot food was very poor. Typical mass catering, kept warm on servers and not a very inspiring selection. We did expect some Greek food. Kafeinon bar was very nice for evening drinks. There are some nice tavernas and shops within walking distance. We would recommend this hotel but on a bed and breakfast basis only based on our poor experience of the dinner offering.

The beach was very nice and indeed sandy. When compared to other hotel beaches in the area, this one was very roomy, not crowded.
The hotel itself is nice, however the room equipment could be better ( hotel provided air dryee cannot be used in bathroom unless you bring adapter, no space in bathroom for more than 2 towels).
The bad is food - the amount of provided food compared to the ampunt od people and space.. limited selection and limited volume for the main course. Fruits and sweets were good.

We had an amazing holiday here with my sons for a week. Brilliant, clean, well equipped hotel, nice room, lovely people, great food. Everyone was very kind and helpful from the minute we’ve arrived until our departure.
Excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner with fresh local and continental food varied every day. All this with a seaview and very kind service.
Great tennis court, gym, mini market, pools, bar and a perfect sandy beach. I would definitely recommend to everyone going on a holiday in Crete.

One of the most beautiful hotel resorts we have ever visited! Very close to the sea, hotel even has own pools which are huge, so we enjoyed not only the sea but the pools too. Food -the best I have ever experienced! A huge variety of meals every single day plus…. amazing hotel staff, very friendly and nice people there, especially Cheff of the restaurant :) Rooms and whole resort is very clean with wonderful little streets or paths with amazing flowers and plants. Not far from the hotel, there are other restaurants, cafeterias, bars so you can visit the centre of Malia and buy souvenirs too. We loved the vacation there, hopefully we will visit it in the future again. We recommend it definitely!
And we send greetings from Slovakia to people we met there ;) Thanks for great services.

Yes, men "should" wear long pants only at the evening dinner as it gives a more professional look. The food and atmosphere is really high class and worth it. When we were there, there was one man who wore short pants and all was okay.

Hello Jacqueline, We are glad to here you are visiting us in July. Please note, that men should wear long trousers, not necessarily Collar shirt, but no muscle shirts. For ladies is can be anything, but the skirt should not be too mini to provoke. Looking forward to welcoming you here on Crete soon. Sunny regards, Claudia
