We had the best best BEST time here. The staff couldn't do more for us. The soft white beach, the gorgeous swimming pools, super food and excellently maintained resort made this spot an absolute gem! It's not over crowded and very true to nature so no big lights and raciness - just pure relaxation and rest! Thank you Stanley, our...

We enjoyed our stay at Hakuna Majiwe in beautiful Paje. The beach huts are located right on the beach and feel like a hidden gem amongst the touristy Zanzibar beaches. Bed was comfortable and the AC was like heaven after coming from the hot and humid Malawi. We really enjoyed the free tea and coffee that is always on offer...

The welcome at night was good but the hotel was something of a disappointment. The family bedroom had a fan and air on but lacked a tea maker and fridge. The towels were tired and not changed during our visit. The area for clothes was basic with no drawers or wardrobe. The food lacked variety and was the same every...

Hakuna Majiwe is in a stunning location just steps from a peaceful beach. The rooms are lovely and spacious and have everything you need - mosquito nets, fans and even hot water. In particular I found the staff very helpful and accommodating - no request was too small and they kindly let me check out several hours late so that...

We stayed here over Christmas and had a truly wonderful time. The General Manager was very kind and managed to squeeze us in at short notice as we had booked a different hotel further down the beach which was awful. From the first time we walked down the beach to see the hotel until the moment we left, you could...

The hotel offers good experience for people wanting the electric/sporty vibe of Paje while keeping your stay calm and isolated. The hotel is located 20-30 minute beach walk from the main area. I would recommend you to rent a bike and you can ride it in the beach on low tides. Hotel is sacious and very nicely decorated. bongalows are...

My daughter and I spent 4 nights at Hakuna Majiwe. First and foremost I cannot say enough about the staff. They went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and well looked after. They were really wonderful. In that way we felt totally pampered during our stay at Hakuna Majiwe. With the right expectations, this lodge offers a...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Dotted between the palm trees of Zanzibar's South East Coast, along an unfurling swathe of postcard-perfect coastline, sits Hakuna Majiwe, the Place of No Stones, a site so idyllic that we named our hotel after it. The 21 luxury cabanas of Hakuna Majiwe Lodge are spread out along this quiet, palm-fringed beach, each leading straight out onto the hourglass-fine sands and jade waters of the Indian Ocean. The cabanas pay homage to our host culture, mixing thatched roofs and wooden floors with the intricate ornamental vidaka plasterwork of the Swahili Coast to create a space that is both shamba chic and authentic in style. Walk-in dressing areas, artisan four-poster beds and generous bathrooms ensure that style is complemented by the comforts expected on your holiday. Be it a private honeymoon retreat or hosting your family in our dedicated 5 bed suites, comfort and privacy are always guaranteed. And at the heart of the tropical splendour of our spacious grounds sits the Tradewinds Restaurant, from where our hard-earned reputation for can-do hospitality has been forged. An evolving menu of Swahili-Zanzibari cuisine using locally-sourced ingredients is freshly prepared with International flair each and every day, paired with carefully-selected wines and juices, to create lasting culinary experiences, worthy of your visit. Private dining, with butler service, is always available for those seeking intimate memories to dine for. Jungle Spa and landscaping our expansive, palm-lined pool sheltered in the abundant tropical splendour of the Hakuna Majiwe estate. With a kite school for the more intrepid guests and an excursion centre for the more curious wishing to explore the island, there is always something to do if the relaxation becomes too much. Our home is where our heart is, though, and Life is Always A Beach at Hakuna Majiwe. ... more   less
