Returned from 11 great days at Bluebay Resort & Spa Hotel. This truly is a great place with great people, food and atmosphere. Layout of the hotel is amazing and real, meaning, it fits the surroundings like a glove. It’s a good thing that someone didn’t want to put a highrise

you will need the one for Africa that has three prongs - here's what's on the internet about that Tanzania: Electric plugs D & G 230V 50Hz. Traveling to Tanzania you will need to bring both the electric travel adapter D and G. Electric plug D has the official name BS 546 (5 A/250 V earthed). This plug is commonly used in countries colonized by the British.Jun 15, 2014

Good question!! - From having experienced it first hand - I would advise 1. During low tide - in many places it is too shallow to swim - you have to wade in some places and can swim in others. But you can go out almost a mile to the place where the reef breaks - spectacular out there. 2. Bring water shoes to protect your feet from coral and sea urchins - even a wet suit and gloves to protect knees, elbows and hands - we had a great wading/snorkeling experience at low tide - but sure wished we had had protective gear. Be sure to wear a hat or swim cap to cover your head from the sun. 3. The tide comes in FAST! be careful and note the tide times and turn around and head back in the minute you notice the tide turn. This is critical - see next comment - the tide here is not to be messed with! 4. At high tide - the beach completely disappears and it will be too rough and unsafe to swim - you would be bashed on the rocks and seawall - may even be deadly - no kidding - hit the bar and pool during high tide. I suggest the Moscow Mule at the Bluebay Bar - it was delicious! 5. Bring some type of underwater camera if you can - even a disposable one - we saw some great coral, clown fish, starfish and jellyfish - but sadly did not have the gear to take photos. 6. Have fun! look for the cows on the beach at low-tide - makes for an unforgettable photos!

If you have enough time to book before your trip - I suggest to look for CHEETAH'S ROCK on Trip advisor - you book this trip separately directly with Cheetah's Rock - not the hotel - but they fill up about 6-8 weeks out... they do provide transportation to their site from any hotel on the island however - included in the price of your visit - $160 US per person - worth every penny - Cheetah's Rock was the most memorable place we visited in Zanzibar one of the most memorable in the world..

Sorry but we were happy to laze about the hotel so we have no experience of excursions. They were definitely available including proper tour companies and from sellers on the beach - we would never buy an excursion from the beach boys though. Sorry we could not be of more help.
