Food, amenities, service all were excellent. The staff from housemaids and gardeners all the way to the managers were lovely. The general manager Dass was so friendly and helpful and keen to make sure we had everything we needed. A bonus was the nightly live entertainment which was of a very high standard, with music, dancing, and exciting performances of traditional Maasai songs. Also convenient having Oneocean dive/snorkel company located on the premises. Bluebay exceeded our expectations on every level and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for a luxury experience on this beautiful island.

Hotel's Favourite
My husband and I spent part of our honeymoon in Zanzibar at Bluebay Beach Resort & Spa. Everything during our stay was fantastic! When we arrived we were told we got upgraded to one of their junior suites, which was wonderful and so close to everything at the resort. It was so nice to be upgraded for our special occasion. We also had a beautiful palm frond/flower archway constructed outside our door. In the room we were greeted with a bottle of champagne and a letter telling us we could book a complimentary seafood dinner (the dinner ended up being fantastic - delicious lobster and so much other seafood)! All of these things made our stay even more special. Our room was so spacious and the entire resort was beautiful. I got a facial and a massage at the spa, which was also so lovely. The general manager and all of the staff at Bluebay really took care of us the entire time we were there. They paid attention to details and really went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. Special shout-out to Abdul, Joyce, Catherine and Mgeini for being the absolute best! We hope to visit Zanzibar again someday and would definitely head back to Bluebay! Highly recommend to anyone who is interested in staying.

I stayed here with my daughter in August and had a fantastic trip. The hotel is located on a beautiful beach with loungers over looking the sea front. The beach itself is stunning to walk along and has a fantastic seaweed farm to walk to, small rockpools and urchins to explore a an abundance of shells to collect, (you're only allowed to collect the smaller ones). If you have them bring sea shoes for walking in the sea. The pool area was clean and big enough and there were enough sunbeds around the resort that you really didn't need to worry about not getting a bed. The first few days we were here no other guests saved beds at all and they were plentiful. Then a few guests arrived that did save beds and walk off for hours, very annoyingly, but even then there was enough spaces to go around, just maybe not in the preferred spot. It really is better for everyone when people don't do this as was proven in the first few days. The hotel had a stylish yet relaxed feel with lots of Arabic styling. The main area's were beautiful. spacious and had plenty of seating and day beds dotted around. The room was well appointed and large, plenty of space. House keeping was excellent. The restaurant had a huge array of food to eat, there really was something for everyone including a range of local dishes too. I would've been very happy to see more local dishes on the menu as well but the offerings were plentiful and covering all palates I would say. The evening entertainment was very good, some of it excellent, especially the acrobatics and dance acts, both modern and traditional. We used the spa extensively, between us having massages, scrubs and facials. It was a lovely environment and the staff there were excellent, friendly and caring and very good at what they do, The reception staff can't do enough for you and were constantly full of smiles and assistance. And that is where this hotel really stands out from the crowd. The staff. They really are excellent here, you do feel they genuinely care if you have a good time. Matui and Sabrina on reception were so brilliant, patient and helpful, Yaya, Aisha, Lillian in the spa, such friendly, professionals. Zenah and Amina in the coffee shop, thank you for your warm smiles and Zenah for the drink you made my daughter when she was ill, really did the trick and your kindness was very touching, The staff in the restaurant were all amazing but a big thank you to Lizy for making breakfast so welcoming, to Eliza, Dickson, Victor, Adonis and the handsome and charming Boniface to name a few of the restaurants staff that made our meals so relaxing and fun. A big hello to Maiga, king of the cocktails, not a bar tender a mixologist!! Maiga, Hafidh and Jumo are a great trio at the bar, kept us smiling all holiday long. These are to name a few people that make this hotel so special. They are led by the wonderful Dass, who has warmth and charisma and is clearly incredibly invested in making this a gem. We did great day trips from here to Stone Town, Prison Island and Spice Gardens and we also did The Blue Safari. There is an extensive water sports centre that offers snorkelling, diving, all manner of boats, etc. The grounds are beautifully maintained. Honestly there isn't anything that doesn't meet expectations for me. I'd love to return one day, If I could afford it I'd be here every year!!!

This was our 10 night relaxation time following a 6 night Safari in Kenya. We had a room upgrade granted as it was a honeymoon stay which was a lovely touch. We arrived late but were offered food before going to our room. The resort is stunning, beautifully maintained. Our room 128 was great, possibly needs a little updating and some touch ups here and there but on the whole certainly no complaints. The pool area is lovely and so is the bar area and reception a welcome relief from the hot sun. What can i say about the beach, simply stunning, exactly how i imagined it to be, there are no loungers on the beach at this resort due to high tides but there is a beach sand area adjacent to the pool and beach which looks over the turquoise sea. The water is bath warm and crystal clear, if your wanting to walk out into the sea you will need beach shoes due to the sea urchines but plenty of soft sandy areas if you dont. There are "beach boys" who will come and walk along the beach with you offering trips, also the guys asking for you to look in their shops along the way,,, we were hesitant at first but after looking in the shops and speaking to the locals they are lovely and there are some great deals to be had. We did one trip with the hotel and one on the mango boat with the beach boys, both were great and yes we did see the dolphins. Our stay here has been simply amazing, but made all the more amazing by the incredible staff who work here, from reception to housekeepers to bar and waiting staff and the gardeners, pool staff and the activity crew they are just the happiest, lovliest staff we've ever come across. Victor, Dickson, Lizy Catherine, Mbaraka Hussain, Abuu, Sabrina and Joyce EVERYONE needs a Joyce in their lives, the people who have stayed here will know what I mean. (happy wife, happy life) These are just a few of the names that have stood out for us making our trip so memorable. So a huge thankyou. During our stay we had a cancelled flight home, this was dealt with by reception and also from the hotel manager, again thankyou. Will we return - OF COURSE, Yes Yes Yes and will i tell everyone about this little piece of paradise.....Maybe, maybe not but only because i want it to be my piece of paradise. We Will see you again Thankyou to all of the hardworking staff

This resort really is a attribute for Zanzibar and the staff and facilities make the stay enjoyable and relaxing. However, be on the lookout for the "beach boys" and "fake" Masaai, they can be annoying.

Recently stayed at this resort for our first wedding anniversary and it was just wonderful. The beach and views from the resort were gorgeous. The grounds and gardens of the resort are well maintained and immaculate. We stayed in room 124 and it was perfect, out of the way and quiet. I do have to say, the bathrooms are quite outdated and the drain in our shower could be a bit smelly at times. We struggled with low pressure from our shower on our last couple of days. When we reported it to the reception staff I am sure nothing was done about it as it was still low when we used it again. The male reception staff weren't always the most friendly from the infrequent interactions that we had with them but I do have to say that the rest of the staff who worked in the bars, restaurants and grounds were always so attentive and helpful. A special shout out to Joyce who kept us laughing and topped up on delicious cocktails, to Mgeni, Lizy, Dickson, Catherine, Adam and so so many others. Thank you for your friendliness and great hospitality. The food at this resort is also just so delicious. We were all inclusive so ate most of our meals at the Makuti restaurant (where we never had a bad meal) but did pay a couple of times to eat at the Bahari Grill which was outstanding. It was pricey but worth the quality of the meals. If you love watersports there is plenty to do as the hotel has a dedicated team to show you the ropes, from diving (and lessons) to kite surfing etc. They also organised group activities daily which you could participate, such as village walks, volleyball, darts, and water aerobics. The beach boys can be nuisance but if you don't entertain them and politely tell them no several times, then they will leave you be. There are also security guards on the beach to assist you if you need their help. If you are thinking about booking the resort then defintely do. It's not quite got a 5 star feel as it claims, but we do think we got what we paid for and had the loveliest, relaxing holiday.
