I stayed at Tanzanite early August and had an absolutely wonderful experience. They took care of me from the moment I arrived at the resort it made my experience extremely pleasurable not having to worry where to go (and I was coming from the farther away City of stone town ) When i arrived I was welcomed with warm smiles, check in process is very smooth and easy . I was then brought to my beautiful room that I stayed, very tidy .Positioned in the heart of station you are a walking distance to all the shops. Cannot recommend this hotel enough I would come back in a heartbeat! It’s very convenient. They organize excursions for you and are very flexible. You get to also experience the low and high tides of the ocean. Very beautiful.

Pictures are old and present totally wrong idea about this so called resort. Restaurant: dirty cutlery, extreem high prices, many thing not available, tasteless and we had to wait 1,5 hours for two wraps and 1 club sandwich. Swimming pool, old, very small (clever how they manipulated picture), Salt water, dirty, hardly any shade. Beach: there is no beach, hard to access water, need water shoes. WiFi: not working properly. Room: after two hours waiting we could go to our room. It smells like a public toilet. Two beds with dirty sheets and 1 desk which must be 60 years old. Empty minibar. Batchroom, dirty and smells like it has never been cleaned. Location: need to walk half an hour (one way) to get to decent beach or to decent restaurant or pay taxi usd 10 (one way). Even though I booked and paid for 3 persons 1 week we left without getting a refund, that’s how horrible this place is. Don’t believe any positive review! Don’t go there!

A subtly beautiful and quaint little resort where the staff and management will do their very bet to make sure your needs are met. Accommodation is lovely and well maintained with such a relaxed atmosphere you are almost tempted to stay put! I would recommend having a good walk about and meeting some locals and also getting a cab to the Nungwi beach side and experiencing the local but cosmopolitan touristy part of the north. Make sure you get to visit Stone Town and the Spice Farm too. BUT... Most of all soak up the relaxation and welcoming ambiance of Tanzanite Beach Resort. Thank you so much to the staff and management for such a perfect stay 🙏🏼

great value Hotel, excellent staff, couldn’t do enough for us. very helpful. lovely views. quieter part of Nungwi but within walking distance of the main areas. loved our time here. direct beach access. Shout out to Fazil and Saloum (apologies if i spelt wrong), and in fact all the staff for making our stay memorable. some points to note. Pool is fairly small and salt water, beach is rocky and breakfast is not buffet (choose items you want and cooked fresh - less waste) but that didn’t stop us from having a most memorable family holiday.

Stayed at this hotel and it was everything I needed and more. My first trip post covid, and it didnt disappoint. Upon arriving I was greeted by Uwe one of the managers there and he literally said 'welcome to paradise' and he wasnt wrong, The resort is on a beach front, when the tide goes out, you see beautiful sandbanks and the most breathtaking views. The sea is super warm even for a morning swim. The rooms are large and very clean, the bed is one of the most comfortable ones I have ever slept on, the first nights sleep there was so relaxing. Breakfast every morning was fresh fruit and juice with a stunning view of the indian ocean. The staff were super friendly and helpful, always with a smile on their face. Free wifi and towels available for the pool area. Already wanting to go back! Thank you for the most pleasant stay :) Karibu

The rooms are fine. The sea view is nice. The garden is alright. The pool is small, but okay. Most of the staff are nice and polite. The manager, Uwe is a super cool guy, who can be of great help when nobody else seems to be able to control a given situation. Simon Kiwale is another staff member we enjoyed being serviced by! The local owner was there with his family and that gave it all a nice and friendly touch. With that said, it's a shame there's no real beach there and the pool area might be a tad too small. The bar/restaurant personel are not the fastest or the most service minded, unless Uwe is present! Note that the bar closes as soon as Uwe turns his back on it at night, so you never really know at what time it's open. The kitchen is not the best and the dinner buffet is on the best of days; boring and on the worst days; hard to find anything you'd actually wan't to eat. Which brings us to the "highlight" of the place; Fazhil...! Fazhil is Uwe's right hand, a little charming cartoonish character who will assist you with whatever he can - for a fee... Don't let his cute little stereotype get the better off you, cause that little fella was more like a vlllain just to stay in the Disney universe. We had him planning 3 trips and one was bad and then it just got worse! First trip; Stone Town and Prison Island. A $240 waste of time really, especially Prison Island, where the captain of the boat tried to keep the island entrance fee to himself. On the way back to Tanzanite the van driver had a personal errand for about an hour! Second trip; Private Dhow sunset cruise another $240 experience. First Fazhil tried to get us on a Dhow with about 25 other quest. We pointed out that it wasn't really private. We waited for awhile and then he got our private boat, which was basically a dingy with a puny outboard motor. This time we pointed out the lack of Dhow and then we gave up the idea and went for a dinner to avoid the buffet back at the hotel. Next day Fazhil actually managed to get us on a private Dhow and was fine. Third trip; Mafia Island a $3000 waste of time and money we wish we didn't do! First off we got picked up late and by the wrong driver to go to the airport. In the airport we found out that instead of a 2 day stay at Mafia we had to stay for 3 days. There was a lot of trouble in the airport about the connecting flight from Dar and we spend a lot of time and frustration solving that, with no help from our booker; Fazhil. We made it to Mafia though. Fazhil had booked us into the most basic huts on the beach ever! Straw mattresses, no AC etc. Next morning the whale shark hunting began and what an awful experience that was! We don't recommend anyone to participate in that! When we came back the staff was changing some of our rooms, helping themselves to packing our personal belongings and starting to move them to another room. We decided to leave and go back to Zanzibar and did that without the assistance of Fazhil. We booked into another hotel in west Nungwi beach area. The next morning Agent Fazhil shoved up at our hotel to "clear things out" as he put it. We explained what happened and he said he would take the trip himself so he knew what his guests are paying $750 for per person - Good idea. He invited us for a complimentary buffet dinner at Tanzanite, which we narrowly escaped. He insisted on paying us something back so he decided he would transport us back and forth to a restaurant we had a booking with the next night, the place is called the Rock and it is a couple of hours drive away. We thanked him and he left.Of course the next morning Fazhil sent us a text saying that the free ride was now $80. We told him he was a funny little hustler and said goodbye.

My husband and I spent almost 2 weeks in Zanzibar in January 2022. We have stayed at 4 different areas of the island, in 5 different hotels, Nungwi and Tanzanite Beach Resort being the last one. While Nungwi is well known of its beach clubs, parties and night life, Tanzanite Beach Resort provides you with a quiet, friendly and beautiful environment for a very reasonable price, a place where you can feel yourself home. We stayed in one of the resort's 20 or so bungalows (all with balcony, facing the ocean). The resort has a large, lovely garden, nice pool, and a nice restaurant with a great Italian chef. (Thanks for that amazing Penne all' arrabbiata, Marco). Our room was really spacious and comfortable, with air conditioning. Yes, the place needs some tiny refurbishments here and there, but nothing major really. It has everything what one needs for a wonderful holiday and it would deserve more than only 3 stars. (Yes, there is no TV in the rooms, but who needs that in Zanzibar anyway?) The wifi is little patchy, but again, this is Africa. :) The beach is beautiful. When there is low tide, you can walk miles in the sand. Make sure though to wear beach shoes when going into the water as there are lots of sea urchins. If you feel like eating out, there is a nice local restaurant close by, called the Seafood Kitchen where you can have fresh seafood every day. The Nungwi Aquarium, where you can swim with sea turtles and feed them, is just a 10-minutes walk. Uwe is the most amazing, efficient and professional general manager I have ever seen. I couldn't have any request he and his team haven't fulfilled right away or in a short time. They have done more than it was expected: giving us a great rate, allowing early check-in, late check-out, we could choose whichever bungalow we wanted to stay in (Lillian showed us at least 6 of them), they were moving large and heavy mattresses in between rooms to find the best sleeping option for me (I have some lower back issues). My husband had to leave earlier, leaving me alone for the last 4 days. Even after he's left, I couldn't have felt safer and more looked after by the resort's team. Thank you Uwe! Thank you Lillian! Thank you guys!

My very first stay in the beautiful Zanzibar was made extra wonderful by the warm welcome and care of the staff of Tanzanite beach resort. Every single staff member was so helpful and actually cared that we had a best time from the moment we arrived! They honestly advised on the best spots, times to head out, negotiated best prices for us and safely transported us wherever we needed to be. The resort is stunning and kept in great condition at all times. If you were ever worried about food... let me tell you! Your jaw will drop every day for the exquisite dishes that arrive on your plate. 12/10 for every meal we ate! The chef was phenomenal- he made our birthday so special with cakes and dances! You name it! The resort felt like home and this was due to all the amazing staff! We appreciate you and will always remember you - Mr GM, Chef Dennis, Smiley Simon, Kind Fazhil, Funny Nelson, Sweet Aaliyah, Rukaya, Lovely Lilian, Rashid and all jamming waitresses!!!
