The location of this hotel is fantastic, right on the gorgeous Nungwi beach. The views from the restaurant are to die for. The staff here are friendly and quite professional and their seafood was absolutely amazing. However, the rooms were a bit of a let down and did not quite match our expectations as they lacked some basic stuff you would expect in a room considering we paid more than 100 USD per night.Overally,we had a really amazing experience in Nungwi.
Zanzibar is Muslim place how they allow tourist to move nude with ladies bumps open and breakfast time ? Can anyone eat ? And what an example to family people the dirty place if in qatar they follow their culture and in Zanzibar beaches nude??? Even restaurants???? No one wants to see bumps while eating. No respect!
The bathrooms were moldy and smelled like urine. The bedrooms had fleas due to all the cats roaming around. We left as soon as we could. However, The staff at the restaurants and the cleaning ladies and front desk are great!!! Location beautiful … but not worth the hassle
Great location, pleasant outdoors and good service at the reception, but there were a lot of bad things there. Our room was not clean at all, bathroom was full of black mold on windows and around the shower. Window did not have any blinds or curtains so everyone passing by our bungalow could see us. Also room service was not good, every that something was missing: from towels to shower gels and shampoos. Each day we needed to go to the reception asking for stuff. Pool was nice but not very clean and it closed at 6 p.m. each day.
So we stayed here for one week as a couple in the pool view rooms, the rooms was nice, sufficient for what we needed and good value. There was some damp in the bathroom but that doesn't really bother me as such, I can live with it for the sake of a week but some people might not like that. The pool area - lots of loungers and always nice that they aren't over crowded, we could get a bed any time of day. Average size pool, fine, did the job. My only complaint about the pool was its under several trees and for that reason there is lots of debris on the service of the pool that you have to often swim through. They need to be skimming the pool I would say on the hour so that it doesn't build up. They were a little lax with it. Spa/shop/market - They had these on site, I wouldn't have called it much of a spa it was pretty small. Also they charged a lot for the services, if you walked further afield you could get a massage for around 70 percent less. The onsite market they had was very expensive, I think the imported crisps were like £5. The beach area - This was in one way the best bit about the hotel and in another sense the worst. Just outside the hotel is a beautiful white sand, turquoise paradise. It looks stunning however you can't really have a relaxing time and sit on it as you will be harassed without exaggeration every 20 minutes. I have never in my life been anywhere with as much harassment as Zanzibar and its unbearable. I came to the hotel and stepped into the beautiful setting and within less than a minute I had someone trying to sell me a trip, someone trying to sell me a keyring, someone else a massage and someone else some artwork and one guy tried to sell me a coconut and drugs. The hotel allow a bunch of beach boys to sit at the bottom of the stairs where you have to descend to get to the beach (unfortunately not a unique feature to this hotel) you feel like you are honestly running the gauntlet. They are very dodgy and one couple organised a taxi with them and they were robbed of all their belongings on the way to the airport. One of the guys kept asking us when we were leaving and flying home. Do not divulge this information. It was disappointing to see that they allowed them onto the hotel grounds, I saw only on one occasion someone harassing a couple to buy a trip. Restaurant - The service wasn't great here, you were often waiting a while to put your order in. The food was really expensive all things considered and it wasn't really great. The views from the restaurant though are wonderful and they did have entertainment (although again the performers come round for tips which can get irritating, potentially unfairly as you just begin to feel like a walking ATM in Zanzibar, isolated it would probably not be worth a mention). Overall I think its great value, the location is fantastic (maybe one of the best on the island), the view is phenomenal, the pool area is great, rooms are good considering the cost. I would go back and I would recommend because the price is good for what you are getting. There is also a lovely cat who is really friendly, she is a little tabby with a scar behind her ear. Please love her and feed her if you see her (you can get tuna and cat food from the local supermarkets in the square near the sign for a bakery. Tuna is 3500 Shilling and the large cat food is 5000.…
Good location, options for sea view bungalows, busy place and more lively, what I don't like is restaurant system, which you have to pay for each meal you have separately and I prefer to have my account settled once at the checkout so I don't have to carry cash on me while I am there for beach activities and fun time. The breakfast is reasonable. The fares through the hotels booking apps are fluctuating. You can get the same room for two different prices in the same app.
Rooms are basic, but clean. A bit stingy with towels, as a family of 4 we only got 2 bath towels and no hand towels. Staff is friendly and helpful. There seems a bit of a sewage problem as the washrooms in the room were smelly. The pool has chipped tiles which is an issue with smaller kids Pool towels you only get at the reception. Would be more convenient to have a set up next to the pool. The breakfast was a pleasant surprise, with a variety of different foods and fresh juices So was the restaurant. Food was great and the waiters were super helpful Overall our stay was good. There’s many activities and food options around
This property is right at the beach. It has a restaurant where you can chill on a meal or drink. It's a clean hotel, the staff are responsive with excellent customer care. Most definitely i refer it to my contacts.
Surprised to read bad reviews about the staff, because for us they were outstanding- so friendly and happy to talk. I personally think that if you are friendly and polite to them, they go the extra mile. If you rudely bark orders at them, understandably you probably won’t get good service. The location is brilliant, very near nungwi town and it’s on the beach. The only let down for us was the room quality. The more expensive sea view room that we were in, was not of a good standard and the bed was very uncomfortable. The cleaners did a good job. The food on Zanzibar isn’t great unless you’re a seafood lover, but Amaan was one of the better places that we found to eat in the area. For the price and comparing to other places, I think that the hotel is fair- amazing location, very friendly staff and service, acceptable food but basic, tired rooms. I think to tick every box you’ll be paying 3x the price, so can’t really complain.…
We checked in on 8/6/2022. Crazy person knocked on our back door telling me that the manager needed to see me. I went to the desk to find out the manager wasn’t even there. Reluctantly we were moved to another room across the property. That room was a disaster. The air conditioning squealed like a pig keeping us up all night. Then while using the sink in the bathroom the entire floor flooded. The manager and staff are useless. They couldn’t run a dog house. Unless you are desperate for a place to stay don’t stay there. We left and checked into another hotel. The most incompetent group of individuals running that operation. If they were giving away free rooms I would sleep on the beach.
