My boyfriend and I had a really memorable holiday at the Max Hotel (Zanzibar). The owners are a Russian family who go out of their way to make their guests' vacation the best of their lives. They organized balanced breakfasts, high-quality daily cleaning, hired unrealistically friendly staff (the hotel manager knows English well, can help in any matters, which is also really important). On the first day, they met with us to help with important questions: where is it better to relax, eat, book excursions, make purchases and much more. The main thing is to leave your hurried city life at home, here you have to catch a chill and keep calm, because the locals are all very carefree and leisurely. Hakuna matata and pole-pole❤️

You can judge on my impressions from the title of the review :) For sure it is just my subjective opinion and you also have to understand that Zanzibar is not about the Luxurious all-inclusive Hotel experience. The room that we had was quite nice, probably not so distinctive from other rooms that you can find on the island but we had air conditioning and amazing service - room cleaning that we had was probably the best that we had during all our stays: every single day fresh bad and towels. The nearest beach, market, and shops are literally 5 minutes on foot or even less, so the location is perfect! The food was very good, probably because of one of the best chefs who is not only a good cooker but an amazing person as well :) It is worth mentioning that if you eat at the hotel as a guest you have 10% discounts. An incredible dish is Sashimi that is prepared by Max (owner of the place) from freshly caught tuna. Be careful not to bite your fingers ;) Max Hotel proposes probably the best private tours experience for the most reasonable prices. Owners are incredibly nice people, especially Daria who was in contact with us almost 24/7 and helped with pretty much every single question or inquiry. So to conclude - stay there and you won't regret it!

It’s really worth money. Not some luxury or boutique hotel, but the place has some soul. From the moment I booked the hotel to my transfer to the airport, everything was organized, perfect and with the good price. Breakfast was really good , room was cleaned every day , reception helped a lot. Thank you for all people of Max Hotel who did our holiday unforgettable!!!

If the actual price was only $30 it would be so so. But after fees and taxes price was $60. The bed is rock hard(which is fairly common around here but this bed was really hard) the bed Had a crappy rough sheet and bedspread. Two pillows which were old couch pillows stuffed into very uncomfortable rough pillow cases. WiFi hardly worked. The restaurant was a joke. They could hardly provide a cup of ice. Gave me a hard time when I asked if I could have an extra towel. The shower has no divider at all in the bathroom so once you use it, the bathroom becomes a swamp and dirt and water remains on the floor. Theres a constant light from the main hall which keeps the room pretty light even in the middle of the night. Go elsewhere. Don’t stay here.
