We had a great stay the staff were very friendly, the jetty restaurant & bar was a highlight. For the first few days there was an issue with the WIFI however once we raised it with the management, Mr Laucin the manager when out of his way to ensure there were no further issues.

Its actually our 2nd trip back to Essque Zalu but it never disappoints and keeps getting better!!! Highlight is the buffet breakfast and themed evening dinners. And we never missed the amazing sunrises and sunset from the Jetty. We will be back soon!!!

Hotel staff are exceptionally friendly, our room had one of the best beds we have ever slept in and was extremely comfortable. Views from the jetty of the sunrise and sunset are breathtaking. Evening entertainment is fantastic. There are lots of activities to keep you busy and occupied. A great stay, we will be back for sure.

We arrived very late and at first look the hotel and staff were very good. Offered us a light sandwich which we declined as just wanted to get into bed! Relaxed mornings for breakfast with a full array of continental options, local fresh fruit etc all very nice. Lunches by the pool very relaxed again. The jetty is perfect for party vibe, especially if you have a group of friends. Steven the bar man there is up for a party and he really made our stay a happy one! We were all inclusive but noticed if you were paying for drinks they were very expensive. Food was reasonably priced however we were disappointed at the amount of seafood on offer for a hotel in this area. We were on honeymoon but didn’t receive any type of added little luxuries, our room didn’t have a bath which personally I would have loved a long soak after a salty sea swim. Overall we enjoyed our stay and the excursions we did were good- not sure if these were overpriced or not we did it through the hotel and as a honeymoon didn’t mind paying for ease but I’m sure you could find cheaper if doing it alone. The turtles down the road are worth seeing, super friendly and fun to have a dip with, very busy but definitely a nice trip out of the hotel. We were keen to have a couples massage but when we saw the location we were put off by how open it was to all the other guests by the pool. It would definitely benefit to move it to a more secluded area. Also the same with their honeymoon dining table, very open to all guests who could just walk past you while eating, something we personally didn’t fancy! August was a good month, warm everyday however it did rain occasionally but these were just 10 minute showers that passed fairy quickly. The jetty in the evenings was windy but not unbearable. All the staff were friendly and happy to help when needed, however the bar staff were at times a little slow. Another note to add we used USD cash our whole trip which didn’t seem to be a problem.

We walked into the lobby to check in to see one gentleman complaining rather sternly to a staff member about his bill and equally complaining about the service. I seen the staff walk away laughing/grinning. I was soon to find out exactly what he meant… No one approached us to welcome us or guide us where to check in. We were then made to wait in the lobby before they would take us to our room as they needed to double check our transfer process?!? Basically to check if we had used their driver to drive us to their hotel - we had not and arranged the transfer privately but this explanation was not good enough. Still, its very bizarre! We had our 2 children with us, a 2yo and a 3yo. Off they took us to our room, in the midday heat and took us to the wrong room. Not a room we had agreed on via email prior to arriving. So we had to walk all the way back to reception with zero apologies from anyone and then wait for hours for another room to be cleaned. We went and had lunch, brought 2 of the 4 dishes out wrong so waited for that to be rectified. Got to our room, the AC wasn’t working nor was the telephone, really helpful when you cant even call them to come and have to make the walk back up to reception. “Someone will come now” means someone will come whenever. After all these issues they had the audacity to demand full payment for our stay upfront! We paid for the first 2 nights and informed them we wanted to see how them 2 days went first before paying anything else and thankfully it was the right decision as we ended up checking out 5 days early. The food is not great. At all. Its a buffet breakfast and dinner. The first night my husband was awake during the night with diarrhoea. The second night I also had it. I barely ate my full stay of 2 days nor did the rest of my family either. You order eggs and they just don’t arrive. Staff member at dinner asked me if she could prepare my drinks bill for signing when I hadn’t even asked for it?! Found that strange and unnecessary and just unprofessional. Of all the staff there I found about 4/5 of them friendly and nice - the rest absolutely not. Not welcoming or friendly. The tables we chose for dinner and our breakfast seemed a problem for them. A big problem for them to add an extra chair and a baby chair as it was set up for 2 people. It was as if they didn’t want a family with young children there, I don’t know what it was but their attitudes were very telling. You would think I had asked for £1 million! It made me feel so uncomfortable. We could not wait to check out. Checked out 5 days early to another hotel. There is zero customer service here so I really do hope you have no issues as you will be met with not one single person who cares at all. It is not a 5* hotel.

Having previously visited Essque Zalu on my own I could not wait to share paradise with my family!! We ALL had the best time (young and old) and our biggest problem was having the kids (6&8 years old) rest for a few hours as we had early mornings watching the magical sunrise , spending time in the pool, daytrips in and around the Hotel, watching the sunset from Jetty to enjoying the evenings entertatinment during the dinner service. Also made some new friends during our stay! Lastly a BIG Jambo & Asante to all the friendly staff... Thx for the memories :-)

We spent a week in this hotel and it was an amazing time, the facilities and the entertainment day by day were incredible but definitely the best of the hotel is their staff, they make your stay even better by their great service and always positive and smiley. I would like ti highlight ZAINAB and LUCY from the breakfast, they really made us feel home and always spreading positive beautiful vibes.

Me & my boyfriend just spent a week at Essque Zalu, I was a tiny bit apprehensive due to some of the reviews but all I can say is do NOT believe the bad reviews, this hotel is heaven. We arrived on day 1 to the most beautiful reception looking out to the ocean, we weren't able to book a sea view suite so booked a garden suite instead but we truly believe now that the garden suite is the better option. The sound of the rain on the trees outside is so therapeutic and something we don't hear often due to living in Dubai. Every part of the hotel is breathtaking, the view of the ocean, the jetty leading into the sea, the pool area, breakfast feels like your in a little jungle. The rooms are very homely and comfy, separate bedroom and living room is definitely a bonus. The shower is big and spacious and the balcony is big with lovely views. The service was the best bit for us, the staff are SO friendly and welcoming and can't do enough for you. They truly do make the hotel even better than it already is. All in all, we had the most amazing special week and will 100% be back! Thank you Essque Zalu xxx

his was by far the best decision I took for my first vacation travel after 3 years. Essque staff and service are exceptional. I detected a bit of lag in customer service levels in the early weeks and I reduced my stay duration with Essque. Even on a reduced stay time, they took care of us so well that I felt bad for reducing my stay. I would like to say a big thank you to Mohammed, Mary and Cecilia for making our stay so delightful and cheerful. They made us feel right at home and I will never forget it. In fact, I will get my gang of cousins and come stay with you again. We were literally sad to leave. The hotel is beautifully designed with simple architecture to house the sea winds to ventilate the entire hotel. The hotel size is large and well spread. The hotel lobby is large and also has a lot of area to just sit and relax with with a book and drink anywhere at the hotel. The infinity pool is mechanism design that extracts the sea water and replenishes by itself. I would recommend the excursions and activities provided by the hotel itself which actually covers a lot. The cottage and villa walk ways are spectacular and pleasant. Essque hosts evening performances everyday and their dinner buffet spreads are a fusion of international and traditions cuisines. I just couldn't get enough of the wine and dine experiences. The Jetty Resto-Bar is an an exception in itself for the food, drinks and vibe, its right in the middle of the sea. So glad, there weren't any interference from local beach boys. The spa and massages are to kill for. The gyms work 24 hours. I spent most of my time in self reflection, meditation, getting tipsy and feasting my inner food good at Essque. I loved my morning walks in the hotel campus itself. I spent at least 4 to 5 hours reading and watching the ocean. The Ocean Sea Front Suite is absolutely worth every penny. The rooms and bathrooms were ecstatic coupled with beach views. The TVs were android too, hello streaming apps. Pros: - Large hotel campus - If you are a foodie, the bars and restaurant vibes here would continuously excite you - Cottage walkways were heavenly and green - Ocean sea front suite had tidal waves crashing the stones 10 feet from the cottage. It's a beautiful sight. You can use streaming video apps. The bathrooms were so good i slept in it, lol. - Evening performance are energetic - 24/7 security always surveilling - Less disturbance from local beach boys - Hotel lobby is uniquely designed and large - Despite being expensive, its worth every penny - Staff made us feel right at home Cons: - More dust bins in the room needed - Larger and more bottles of water I think you need to put yourselves out more because what you gave me cant be explained with word enough. God bless, do reach out to me if you need professional marketing tips to bring your A-Game. Do try the fishermans grill at Hilton Nungwi. Essque also arranges 4 trips a day to the beach nearby and even to Rock Zanzibar.
