We stayed at Opera Hotel for 3 nights in July 2021 and it was very wonderful : rooms are very nice and comfortable, terrace in front of the room was very pleasant. About the staff, they are wonderful ! They helped us when we needed to change money after a bad theft we had faced at The Residence Zanzibar. About the food, meals were very very good, thanks to the Chef ! Really appreciated the familial italian cuisine ! Recommend +++

I spent one night at the Opera Hotel. It was a last-minute decision to come to Zanzibar from Dar and many local hotels were booked in Kendwa. This property seems to be on the Kendwa/Nungwi line according to a local friend. The property is beautiful and new. The staff was very friendly from the top-down. The photos shown here are accurate. The location was a 1.5 hour/$30 taxi ride from the ferry. The property essentially stands alone right off on a local road. It's about a 10-minute walk to the beach. It's very direct, but I don't think I would be comfortable making doing the walk at night. You also have to walk down a kind of alley and thru a market in order to get access to the beach. Once on the beach, there are quite a few people offering things like excursions, braid, curios, etc. The pool at the hotel has some nice lounging areas that were probably more comfortable. Breakfast was a buffet bar. I had crepes, bacon, fresh fruit, donut, and scrambled eggs to order. fresh juice and tea. There were a few more things on offer I would suggest that the sign clarify that there is a choice of only one of the things that are listed for made to order. It was a very satisfying meal to start the day before the beach. I also had dinner the night before with stuffed beef and potatoes. It was good and the mocktails that I had were delicious. Everything was priced really well. I also had drinks and some desserts in the afternoon. They were a little off from what we ordered but the hotel took care of them. The only significant issue I had was regarding a friend coming to the property. There is a daily fee in concessions for a guest but later I was told that my guest wasn't allowed to come into my room. This upset me and after discussion, I was informed that the guest needed to register. I think clearer communication from the beginning would have helped, however the owner(?) was so kind and trying to make things right. In a situation that would normally make me not return to a place, in the end, I would come back because of the way that my complaint was handled. The things that I liked about the room were a sitting nook both inside and outside. It was very clean and the bathroom was spacious and modern with a Mediterranean flair. The towels were large and fluffy. There were some small ants and a gecko in the room but it's the kind of thing you expect. The bed, which had been made up so beautifully with flowers, etc., had the perfect amount of firmness. I slept very well and woke up feeling at peace. Everything about the hotel was simple and stylish.
