Nice small hotel, quiet with good food and attentive staff. Being in Nugwi It’s a good 1:30 hrs from Stone Town - and the last 20mins of road is extremely bumpy and potholed. Only thing I’d ask to change is during Happy Hour by the pool … this seems to end up being the staff playing loud Rap music and driving all the customers from around the pool away !
Fantastic hotel. Staff were really great, especially the waitress working in the restaurant, she was very friendly, attentive and professional. Rose did a fantastic job making the bedrooms very tidy and making sure every little detail is perfect. The facilities are great, lovely pool, like loungers and nice walks along the beach when the tide allows. It's worth noting that it's not a beach where you can just go and take a dip as the tide is either very very far out and knee deep for several 100m or very aggressive waves, depending on the time of day.
It was a great to be in Zanzibar last Month ago. It was pleasure to visit stone town, Kendwa beach and Prison island 🏝. Everything is super good and it is a nice place to visit . I wish to live in Tanzania Zanzibar 💞
We stayed 2 nights at Zanzibari in the private vila with own beach and pool at a hefty 750 usd/night. For that, you expect something extraordinary. Unfortunately, Zanzabari is far from a luxury resort to carry that price tag. Our villa was spacious and clean, but we noticed a sewage smell that creeped into the whole villa. The toilet was broken (cisterne craked) and water kept running as the inside mechanism was bad. Food was mediocre, far from gourmet and very basic. There were a couple of great and quick waiters but also some very incompetent ones, which instead of asking questions then served wrong dishes, forgot orders and so on. Very dissapointing to spend 1750 usd for two days at Zanzibari for that experience.
We originally were staying at another hotel and were unhappy. Therefore we moved to the Zanzibari and could not be more delighted we did. All staff were so welcoming, accommodating and couldn’t do more for you to ensure we had a great stay. Everything was cleaned to a high standard and well presented and our maid always left towel arrangements in our room. The hotel itself is stunning, overlooking a quiet part of the beach. Some people have commented on waiting times at the restaurant, however the high quality of the food more than makes up for the fact that it may take 5 mins longer to arrive than at most restaurants. The wifi is very strong. We only stayed 3 nights but the staff were so friendly and some greeted us by name. Local masaii came and performed a dance in the evening. Overall we had a very relaxed stay and would definitely stay again or recommend to anyone. The hotel we originally stayed in was within the same price budget as the Zanzibari which we could not believe as the Zanzibari could be classed as luxury whereas the first hotel budget.…
We are currently staying at the Zanzibari and would highly recommend it for a peaceful holiday in a small hotel with great staff. Our room - the Bustani suite- is amazing- perfect for a family with 2 bedrooms and a large lounge and terrace. Hotel is keen to reduce plastic waste by offering free water refills which we made good use of. The shower is gorgeous and bed super comfy. Staff are very attentive and happy to help. At low tide you can walk along the beach for a couple of miles and hubby has enjoyed his early morning runs here. Outside the hotel you can wander up to some shops and bars and the main road and experience some of the real Zanzibar. The hotel pool area is lovely with a beach area and looks over the stunning Indian Ocean. Sitting reading my book watching the sunrise on the large swing has been so peaceful. Our teenagers have also been really happy with the WiFi! The hotel offers a range of trips and the walking tour of Stone Town was excellent. This hotel was the last leg of a 3 part trip with Tent with a View and a wonderful place to relax after our safari. Huge thanks to the team for looking after us so well.…
We had an amazing time in the Zanzibari hotel! We were there for our honeymoon and everything was perfect! The staff was extremely kind and friendly! They even organized for us a special private honeymoon dinner with live african music! We really loved the view in the ocean, there are several spots where you can relax and admire the magical blue beauty! The food was really delicious with many choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner! I would certainly recommend the 5 course dinner! Finally, the location of the hotel is very convenient as it is close to the two best beaches of the island, Kendwa and Nungwi!
A true oasis in Nungwi. Beautiful accommodations, setting (direct beach access with private beach environment on ledge), and gorgeous gardens. Very clean and safe. Staff were all incredibly friendly. Food was tasty but geared toward westerners (recommend heading into town to try local food on the cheap). Walkable to town via beach during low tide. Very positive experience all around!
I needed to a quiet and serene environment to escape to for a couple of days and I am glad that I chose to stay at The Zanzibari. Not only was the environment serene, the service and accommodation were excellent. Although they had a set menu, they were more than willing to accommodate my request to sample local cuisine. To top it off, the manager was kind enough to offer a discount after I extended my stay by one night. The hotel also ensured that all protocols related to Covid-19 were observed.
Amazing place, great helpful staff, tasty food, I do recommend to get the 5 course dinner once at least. The prices of meals are comparable to restaurants nearby, but the quality is much higher and the food is very tasty. The hotel is located in the quieter but best part of Nungwi, among the top hotels you can find there. Nungwi beach is only 5 minutes on foot. Highly recommended. Thank you.
